  1. Interesting. Solent got the Ward news correct, but seriously got their Pericard news wrong. We seem to be changing our targets alot at the mo!
  2. I agree, he'd be just what we need. A different dimension up front. Pressure is there all the time, but pressure is always easier to deal with when you have fantastic footballers in your team!
  3. It won't, because Gillingham have already said they'd want more than £1.5m for him.
  4. Whilst he'd be a superb signing, I was hoping you'd actually heard something, FF. Still, this is the 1st sort of 'official' link to him, as opposed to a few of us going on about it on here!
  5. At least he's still at the club!! What on earth do they do with Portsmouth's scenario on the next edition?!?!
  6. Very true, I mean Thomas came in costing around a million pounds. He sits on the bench most weeks, and is probably on around 7k at week. For a bench warmer to be on that wage in league 1 is probably unheard of! - Thing is, he's never going to get offered that by another club, so he'll stay with us until his contract expires. Saga's a massive drain on wages too, then we have the others who just take up minor wages like Pulis, Moly, Holmes etc.
  7. Nothing staggeringly new, but Warnock confirms in the audio link that unless Palace get new investment, then 2 or 3 players will have to be sold. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/crystal_palace/8448729.stm
  8. I think your mate that txt'd you probably reads this forum, amigo!
  9. The only solid link that we got regarding Danns was the fact that we were mentioned it as being interested in him on that local London news site. (The one that broke the Fonte story originally).
  10. I was thinking the same. But after hearing Pards talking post-Fonte signing. I'd say we DEFINITELY want both.
  11. By all accounts, top, top player. Pretty much shouldn't be anywhere near this league so it's a bit a coup, i'd say! I don't think there are too many Palace fans saying "glad he's gone" which is always a sign of quality. I still feel there's room for Ward too. Didn't someone post about Thomas perhaps leaving soon too? Excellent signing by the management. Always good to make signings that can just walk into an already good team.
  12. Didn't think he was tough tackling. I always thought of him as similar to Lallana. Attacking midfielder who can play out wide. (With Danns favouring the right-hand-side)
  13. Holy sh*t! Well that would replace Mellis, and then some
  14. Leeds linked with Barnard today as a potential replacement for Beckford. (Imagine Jackson will be high on their list too)
  15. Doesn't really mean much to us (unless you believe the rumours about us being interested)...
  16. With Ridsdale running that club, the fact that they are on the brink of financial collapse is irrelevant!
  17. Am I excited by the news? Nope. But useful squad player, none-the-less. Plus, he's played in this league for 6 months. I'm still hoping we've got another striker deal in the works, but I perhaps doubt it now.
  18. Whilst i've been firmly in the Simeon Jackson fan-club, I've got to say that with Gillingham wanting more than £1.5 million for him, coupled with Barnard's 250k potential asking price, I wouldn't have any complaints if we landed Barnard instead. He's 3rd top scorer in the league, and is only 1 goal behind Beckford.
  19. I was shocked at that price, when i saw it! - I think he's having contract probs ala Beckford. That price is INSANE!! The only official link we have with him was the Echo throwing his name out, casually. Pretty much the recent history of him is here:- http://www.southlondon-today.co.uk/tn/Sport.cfm?id=50162&headline=Southend%20asking%20for%20up%20to%20%C2%A3250,000%20for%20Lee%20Barnard http://www.pinkun.com/content/pinkun/norwich-city/story.aspx?brand=PINKUNOnline&category=Norwich&tBrand=PINKUNOnline&tCategory=xDefault&itemid=NOED01%20Jan%202010%2013%3A16%3A38%3A903 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_5823492,00.html
  20. Agreed. I can see him fitting into a 4-5-1 system. Like you say, neither Morgan or Hammond really run at players. So this guy offers another option for us, and a different threat to the opposition. Not to mention, the fact that he's 6'2", which fits in with our newly formed team of giants!
  21. Ward is certainly possible (hopefully) I'm hoping the other is Jackson. A few teams will be looking at him for certain, so an early bid wouldn't be the worst idea.
  22. Was looking for good centre-backs on FM (as you do) earlier today, and scouts came up with Dorian Dervite at Spurs. Thought I'd look him up on wiki. He's 6 ft 3", can't get anywhere near the spurs team, and went on loan to Southend last season and by all accounts, did really well for himself. Wonder if he's worth a punt, should we be looking for anyone there.
  23. Elliott Ward (Championship Quality centreback, who Pards has worked with before) Jason Puncheon (If he's NOT on a season long loan at MK Dons) Simeon Jackson (Would give opposition defenders something totally different to think about)
