I remember how bad I felt when we lost to Stockport and blew a chance at the LC Semis. That wasn't as bad as that. If Liverpool and Spurs get thru and Sheff U get Chelsea I will feel better.

Any news on the Kit ? I don't do twitter and havn't seen anything on the website. They used to say a few seasons ago. We wore Red/White v WHU but Navy v Villa so no clues there apart from one was a sunny day and the other was a Monday nite.
-
Sorry he's terrible. There was that one against Villa where he got in a promising position down the left and just kicked it out for a goal kick. He did a similar thing tonight. The one where we won it back and he had Pelle and Tadic either side, tried to run thru on his own, fell over (yet nearly retained the ball). The Spurs chance should have got us a point... Even the Sunderland goal he actually tried to miss so it got taken off him...

I think the other big difference between the LC and FAC is that the LC winners have to start in Europe a lot earlier like St Patricks or Bangor City in late June early...
-
I thought the rule was that if the initial shot is on target its his goal regardless of what happens afterwards. Ostenstads was going wide before Neville slid in so that was never his. Pelle should get that. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't.

Its awful. Not the stripes (I won't be wearing it down Wallsend High Street) but the naffness of homemade shirts. I thought those days of (S) were over when we left The Dell. We finished 8th in PL FFS ! Our media profile has never been so high. Who were aap3 ? Who are weho or whatever ? We should have big name Sponsors and big name manufacturers bidding for the contracts... Unless I'm missing something and we are pricing ourselves too high.

He's young and Argentine so you'd assume he's on MP radar. He's one of those languid CBs, I've seen him have some clumsy moments (but so has Lovren). He doesnt always start for Basel. Murat Yakin Has rebuilt the team a couple of times having seen all his good players sold to Bundesliga. But Basel are not the prettiest team to watch. Have to wonder how they took 6 points off Chelsea in CL and still didn't qualify. And the Europa 2nd Leg v Valencia where they blew a 3-0 1st Leg lead through ill-discipline and naivety. Yakin just stood on the touchline as the carnage unfolded before him. And I had thought of him as a Saints manager until that point.

I was there yesterday. Brother is a QPR Fan. When it was Derby I said "I want to go" I felt like it was the Final I should have had in 2007. And then they got 11 points. And we had Bale, Surman a still decent Kenwyne Jones. Hate them, hate them, hate them... How quickly their end emptied... It was awesome. My most mental celebrations: 1 Raziak @ Derby 2 Camara v Norwich 3 Zamora v Derby yesterday Like obviously I'm not a QPR fan but it was that good, I hugged so many random dudes that I think I might be pregnant...

As a Swiss Fan - the ones that have had a mention: Josip Drmic - scored a ****load of goals for Nurenberg and has got a big move to Leverkusen. Not really in our price range. Watch out for him in World Cup. Ricardo Rodriguez - Is a very consistent if unspectacular left back. Think his contacts up at Wolfsburg. Heard his name linked with a few PL teams. Would be a decent signing... Watched all the Basel games in the Europa League on the streams. I like their CB Fabian Schar 22, still a bit raw, but he's strong, brave and scored a few goals as well. Would be well worth a look if Lovren went.

Back From The Game Thread? It was a case of MoPo: "I hope my s**t team plays better than theirs." It didn't. End of. Wigan doing nothing in Championship.
-
MP didn't send that team out to play s**t and lose 1-0. He's obviously got faith in some of the less regular players. Its a "Go out and show me you're better than Sunds reserves" mentality. We got away with it against Burnley and Yeovil and no-one batted an eyelid. We came unstuck today because the performance was lacking and Sund were (very) slightly a step up in quality. How many of our regulars had a good game today? Shaw? Lallana? Lambert?
-
I was there. It was awful. Thing is: when Poyet comes out and says he's not arsed, going to play weakened team and doesn't want a replay. It then comes down to: Does MoPo think that his weakened team is better than Poyet's? In the LC it wasn't but this team was MUCH stronger (Shaw, Wanyama, Lambert, Lallana [starting]). Sunds team was MUCH weaker: (their version of Gazz in goal , no Alonso, no Bardsley, Brown suspended, no Ki , no Johnson, no Fletcher...) I reckon what we sent out was good enough. The shame is a replay would have been OK.

Well I never bet against Saints but... Carroll + the style they play + Yoshida = CERTAIN DEFEAT !
-
I was 99% it would get recinded so its a pleasant surprise. IMO makes the difference between certain defeat @ UP. Carroll gave us a terrible time last year.

FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)

lol ! Live in Newcastle and was screaming at Andros' Dad to pull us out. Reckon it will be first time I've ever been to a ground 3 times in a season. -
FA Cup 5th round draw thread (Sunderland Away)

Am I the only person who hates it when they say: "Here's some balls to look out for..." and put the numbers up? It spoils it IMO. I press the 'mute' button and use a piece of card to cover up that side of the screen. I wish they'd say: "Look away now" like they do on the news. -
Done. Been checking everyday to see if our game vs Newcastle is staying on Saturday 29th March 3pm. Could have had a flight down for £47 and train home for £35. Its now £70 and £45

http://fsf.org.uk/blog/view/An-open-letter-to-Northumbria-Police A Middlesex based Sunderland fan wrote an open letter to complain and (if you don't want to read the article) got the following reply: Assistant Chief Constable Greg Vant said: "We sympathise with the disruption caused to fans associated with the change to the scheduling of football fixtures. "The police do not have the power to order clubs to change their scheduling. Our role is to identify any safety concerns, make representations to the football clubs and present our objections to Safety Advisory Groups. We did this and also wrote to the Football League outlining our concerns. "The potential implications for public safety and disorder arising from both Newcastle and Sunderland playing at home on the same evening were obvious to all concerned. We were always of the view that this was an entirely avoidable risk and we raised our concerns and objections from the outset. "This was clearly the responsible thing to do having listened to and considered the representations made, including a specific request from the Football League to make the change."

I've got it on my Hard Drive / DVD box. I can burn it no probs. I just checked and its 2 hours 10 mins (if I remember rightly , that afternoons FF kinda just segued into the match coverage) so it will have to be compressed very slightly to fit on a standard DVD .

Brian Greenhoff: Ex-Man Utd and England player dies aged 60
adysaint replied to WealdSaint's topic in The Lounge
The 1st of Utd's 12 involved players to pass away. Its Greenhoff, in tears, being led off the pitch by Tommy Docherty in the 76 Cup Final Video that most Saints fans will remember. He would then score the winner in the replay the following season when Man U got their revenge over Saints @ Old Trafford and went on to win the cup. -
Cos I noticed some players wear wristbands with their country on (Cisse has a Senegal one) I bought these: Popped them in a Jiffy - Gaston Ramirez c/o Southampton FC and he was wearing one!

Yeah, as Swiss - USA 94 was awesome. Everyone was bangin on about Romania but we murdered them 4-1 in the Group. It was so much better without Engerlund. Except for all the Irish bias. Memo to British broadcasters: No Irish person supports England.. Therefore no English person should support Ireland. Ancestry excepted.
