Let's be honest a. 'Suitable' replacement for AL would cost as much as we get for him. Also if they were that good they would go to a champions league club. I think we have learnt that even for 15m you don't get much for your money. We are really dreaming if we believe we are going to move on to the next level by flogging off our best players.... Our rhetoric regarding players leaving is contradictory to the empty ambition statements. In reality it is very likely that this club will now chase the short term bottom line and investment in a European challenge will just be just words that placate fans. Selling AL would be similar to Liverpool selling Suarez and saying we are going for the championship next year it wouldn't make sense..... I thought the Kruger interviews were an indictment of where we are heading not a message of expectation based on any evidence or conviction about how we will improve our position. It was nothing more than a rallying call...

'No colour coding' = We told MP that there would be a fire sale of players! No wonder he fled... 'There will be transactions' = The same... 'We are not disappointed' = We want a manager with lower expectations who won't mind us selling our Crown Jewels. 'We did all we could to keep him' We gave him no reason to stay so expected him to go.... Adam gave him a very easy ride as usual. Should have pushed him on selling our best players and how that will get us into 'Europe' the two do not go together? Adam needs to learn to ask a question and then shut up, not ask a question and then proceed to start to answer it for the interviewee as he always does...

Should we hold a vote of No Confidence in the Board, or...

Oh please not Moyes. His football is completely different to MP - is that what we aspire to? -
Should we hold a vote of No Confidence in the Board, or...
captainchris replied to eelpie's topic in The Saints
Well said. The board are out of their depth here..... God knows who they will appoint but I am fearful.... After last year's building of credibility we are heading for 'little old Southampton' again. Nothing about this episode or the ones to follow allowing players to leave will help this club grow. We are now officially a feeder club to big boys again So we have now lost our chairman, Manager and looks like captain all the space of a few months. That sounds to me like rank poor running of a growing successful club! My vote would be no confidence....in fact it appears to be a complete shambles ... -
I would like to see anyone 'plan' for mid table!!! To plan for mid table is to dice with relegation in this league.. Without our manager and best players what do you seriously predict will happen? We are playing with fire.... If we don't push on now we never will... If people are happy without the aspiration to play with the big boys that's up to them... Personally I preferred Cortese's ambition and vision not to say his ruthless management....

Precisely ...... The opportunity we had this summer comes to a club like ours once in a generation. No leadership and no ambition will lead us in just one direction....... Really poor management of the team, the manager and the communication which is obviously appalling. Why is the CEO of blinking duck hunting when such cataclysmic events are needing urgent attention here ? We have failed to invest in the future and will reap the 'rewards'. Football for a club like ours is precarious fail to plan at you peril....

How to replace Lallana...if he goes.
captainchris replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
At last a sensible post on the subject. Ramirez is nowhere near a replacement AL..... Weak in possession and we surrender the midfield when he is on the pitch causing big problems for the whole team. -
The 'point' is, if we unload a couple of our best players the others will want to leave too. Morale will drop in line with ambition. There will be a downward spiral which would see us in the bottom half. Anyone in the bottom half could have dropped out of the Premier League this year we all Know that. So we are dancing with the WBA and Villa guys. Does anyone want to risk that? Not forgetting our Manager who will not want to be at a club with no ambition so he goes and once in a spiral we have seen what can happen. Just watch gates fall too as the standard of football drops along with results. Not saying it will but the risk is very high. IMO you either continue to progress and invest aiming higher or drop down alarmingly if we let our skilled guys walk. There is no choice, no half way house.

442 - hello - we don't change our style !!!!! Pardew no longer manages us!!!!!! We are not 'old school' we are development........

Excellent point ...... -
Another player who got infinitely better when he stopped playing for us then..... Never a great fan personally - never a player that was anything but quite ordinary.... No disrespect to him but really quite average....wouldn't get anywhere near our current first team...

Forums are for an exchange if opinion and I totally disagree with the person who thinks those with differing opinions should be banned. Football is about opinions, the more the merrier. Those without one are in my opinion better off talking to dictaphone and playing it back! Have some tollerance of others and enjoy what they have to say . Without some strong points of view this place is stale and pointless....

Ahhhh Dalek some real common sense at last... Never close to making it with us.....

This is a logical sensible argument. Without keeping this Swiss together (bar the deadwood) plus adding three or four minimum next year will be a struggle. It's a case of bring in the reinforcements required and finish top six or if we don't then could see us in the bottom half or worse.... Not to invest in this team would be criminal given the talent we have. The worry is that if we don't invest the great players we have will of course think about moving on and/or their motivation will drop a level........ Manager and players will need to know now though or they will start look around for options which then turn into decisions !

Excellent post.....

Two things:- Lack of investment in January, lack of pace without J Rod = lack if badly need sqUad investment in Jan = etc etc Get Mop I sorted now with new contract! Why are we not responding to the obvious requirements of the team? We just ponder and ponder

Not with Rimierez starting we wouldn't be......

We are all Saints fans mate - you have no monopoly or special praise for that ! It's just that this is a forum for opinion not a forum for declaration of loyalty to the cause which you appear to think is unique - clearly it is not ..... Nothing to do with 'Scapegoats ' either - it's just someone's opinion and on a forum they are supposed to have one. - that is what it is for! You can disagree with the opinion if you have one of your own but to suggest you are more loyal to the players Is absurd.
