With Lallana, Morgan and Cork, I think we are 3/4 of the way towards having a decent midtable midfield. Need to add pace on both wings and a CM who carries a goal threat so we can change up a little when required.

The sooner everyone (especially press) realise that we are not and should not be favourites for major tournaments, the easier it will be for a manager to actually have a chance of doing anything more than the odd QF. Can see the front page of The Sun now with a picture of Roy as a donkey or something in about 4 months time. Poor bastard.

To busy putting the club up for sale and sorting out Nigel's P45 I should imagine.
-
Would rather just add 2 or 3 quality additions and let this group go again next year. Obviously, some of the fringe players will move on but that's to be expected.

Think you're overreacting a bit here, who is acting like we're already down?

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

Why would you base your opinion on 1 game? He is in the Championship team of the year and is wanted by a number of prem clubs. It's like someone writing Rickie off after watching one of his off games this season. -
Haha, I'm sure Martin would have done the same mate : )

Is Anyone Else Not Bothered If We Don't Go Up?

The entire footy world doesn't want us to go up!?? Haven't seen any evidence to back that up at all. -
just give it to Guly

Difference is that most people's anxiety are proportionate to the situation. Playing a relegated Cov at home is all it is at the end of the day. We'd win this game 19 out of 20 according to bookies. Therefore I am 5% anxious and 95% excited for Sat.
-
No way will he if Guly is fit. Adkins has shown faith in Guly all season. Why would he drop him to put out a team which has been proven to not work?
-
If we play like Chelsea did tonight against Coventry I'll be fuming
-
Agree, Guly works best when creating the space for Richardson to run into. Otherwise we have no outlet on the right wing.
-
Wouldn't agree that he's been average all season. He's had some very very solid games, perhaps not as dominant as last season granted. He's made a couple of mistakes lately but you don't ditch your main CB for pulling a shirt and giving a free kick away or for 1 dodgey header back to the keeper.
-
Or Martin over Fonte?
-
Why would you play Pucheon over Guly?
-
Things like that don't happen to other teams mate. Hull will turn up to west ham and start kicking the ball in the back of their own net meaning West Ham will win 50-0 Meanwhile, down at St Mary's, Coventry will remember that they are actually a brilliant side, tight at the back with a free flowing attack. That 16 year old they might have to play at CB will be a revelation and will force his way into the England Euro squad based on this 1 appearance. Saints won't be able to cope and will be swept of the pitch and into the misery of the play-off's
-
I had to vote for Lambert as Guly didn't make the cut.

Guly

Wouldn't say Pompey should have been a straight forward result. On paper yes, but the derby factor plays a huge part. BC at home was poor yes but they are still a better side than Cov.
-
Cardiff away slightly different proposition than to Coventry at home don't you think?
-
No excuses for letting players have speculative shots from 25-30 yards then. Who was responsible for tracking Robson when he had two free shots from edge of the box first half? No one took the responsibility and it could have cost is dear being my point. No point having them both sat deep, especially as we have nearly zero goal threat from the middle.
-
Don't think it will to be fair. Can't see us getting much more TV coverage than we have had this season and we've had loads of altered KO's in order to accomdate the telly box.

I would replace the fullbacks. Fox was bought in for his set piece delivery but he really isn't a good defender. He so often turns his back on the runner and can be very slow to react. For any winger who would like to cut inside, you can do it at will against fox. As a defensive unit, the whole team need to be more alert and quicker to close down, tackle and get to the 50-50's. I also think we would be better defensively if we had an out and out DM and AM so there is no ambiguity as to who should be shielding the back 4.
