  1. Recommendation from yesterday was to track it down on Iraqgoals.net online. I'll be in Dallas with the same problem, they don't take kindly to sissy sports in them thar neck of the woods... etc.. Anyone know how I can get a response from an admin on this board? My email address has been banned apparently for too many attempts at logging in, and now I have to reset my password everytime I want to logon onto this board - its driving me insane!!
  2. Thanks Window Cleaner, will hunt around for a live feed. COYR
  3. Apparently the U16s beat the Dons 6-3 this morning.... they must be exhausted playing against us again this afternoon... (yawn). Sounds like Puncheon has the bit between his teeth again. Serious question - anyone know if the JPT final will be online anywhere next weekend?
  4. They're nothing but pigeon fanciers... at least I think that was GM's gyst.
  5. Much prefer this new commentator alongside Merrington on Saints Player. Nice to hear the positive Saints commentary - ooh and just as I write it Swindon have a chance through Austin who several Saints fans where at school with according to the build up thread. Looking forward to a good three points tonight. COYR
  6. That's a shame - I'm not able to block rantings from this dissatisfied individual. Actually I'm not able to receive any emails from mods or admins. Judging by the TV programming used in GM's ill-humoured post I imagine he's a little like the old guy with the cane who often got concerned about little things because his life had become empty. Right, I'd better get back to complaining about things over here and wishing I was back 'home' in Hampshire, after I've been for a bike ride with a few US friends. Guide Missile? Your having a laugh - loose cannon more like.

    New York

Pretty solid advice from everyone so far. If you really want to see the Bronx and Spanish Harlem etc it can be covered by the Big Apple or yellow bus tours. To be honest this is a really safe city. Obviously don't make yourself a target by flashing your wallet or camera around but you wouldn't do that in London or Southampton so no worries. Staten Island Ferry - great suggestion. And free. IF you want a slightly pricier dinner and view tour consider a cruise on the Hudson at night. You can book these in advance and board the yacht at 42nd and 12th (outside my apartment coincidentally). Street grid runs north to south on Manhattan and avenues east to west and yes they are logical above 10th street. Broadway intersects from upper west and cuts across a few Aves which might confuse but with maps etc you'll be fine. Subways are safe and fastest way to get most places in NYC. West Village pubs/bars and restaurants are great - think Notting Hill Recommendations: Spotted Pig restaurant (reservation neccesary). The Other Room - cool little bar with great music and draft beers. East Village pubs/bars and restaurants tend to be a little grungier and more for the indie music crowd/art students. Quite a few good music venues are in this area, check out ohmyrockness.com to see what's coming up, buy a copy of Timeout NYC or email me. I still see way too many bands for a guy that's mid 30s. Recommendations: Georgia's East Side BBQ - cheap but delicious Southern food. Bars; Stanton Social Meatpacking District for a for a clubby night out amongst lots of girls tottering about in high heels and fashion crowd. Theatre district and Times Square - nailed by someone earlier, generally expensive and crap. The only decentish bar there is St. Andrews Pub Consider renting bikes and riding along the bike path that runs around the entire island of Manhattan. The full loop from 42nd counter clockwise is about 20 miles and took us 3 hours http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/ny/new-york/389125106980690575 This includes a ride through central park. Also consider riding across the Brooklyn Bridge for great views of downtown Manhattan on the way back. If you're feeling ambitious you could ride upto the George Washington Bridge and down through Weehawken to the ferry in Hoboken which will drop you off at 39th street and 12th. I do this a lot with my girlfriend and are both very casual bike riders and it takes a good four hours. Feel free to email me (philip.robertson@gmail.com) for more tips or to join you on a bike ride. For a day outside the city The Hamptons is way too cold and bleak at this time of year, and generally closed. Not all restaurants etc stay open in the winter out there. A day trip to Washington D.C. by train is possible. I like the idea of a Jetblue flight to N'Alreans (New Orleans). Miami is also a possibility if you want to catch up with Wayne Bridge etc Have a good trip. Weather is just warming up and spring is starting, one of the best times of year to be in NYC.
  8. 36 hours! Do you have someone with you that can check emails etc for you?
  9. I'm DVRing it, cooking a full English breakfast for friends and drinking beers. Drop me a line if any NYC based Saints don't want to deal with Nevada Smiths. I may have spare sausages.
  10. 7:30 in NYC - I'm DVRing it, cooking a full English breakfast for friends and drinking beers. Drop me a line if any NYC based Saints don't want to deal with Nevada Smiths. I may have spare sausages.
  11. Just found it on my cable box, has this game taken an insanely long time to arrive or am I just rather excited by the prospect of seeing Saints on TV at home again for the first time in what feels like years.
  12. Anyone know which TV provider is showing it? Setanta haven't listed it and its not appearing on ESPN or FSC.
  13. In a big girlie moment I actually gasped out loud when I saw the draw. Fantastic stuff. Has to be the tie of the round and I'd imagine it will be televised.

    The Goals

And here's the Wayne Thomas effort - though I did post this to another thread I didn't want anyone to miss it. http://img697.yfrog.com/i/x5s.mp4/
  15. http://img697.yfrog.com/i/x5s.mp4/ - Wayne's goal - recorded from the TV but still reasonable quality.
  16. Sounds like a busy start from Ipswich who are well up for it. Couple of opportunities for both teams now an ambitious shot from Lambert and good chance created on the break by Lallana for Barnard - volley at the keeper. And now Lallana with a shot on target saved. Anyone else watching the FA Cup 'big' 4th round tie - Accrington vs. Fulham.
  17. This is fantastic rather like a daft game of Guess Who but without the pics of beards and glasses etc - I hope next week's game gets postponed as well. So to summarise; there's speculation that a friend of a guy we might have signed or might be signing might also be signing. Is anyone a friend of Jackanory on Facebook... Sorry I'm being mischievous. Any thoughts on if this fictio....possible signing is a striker as backup to Lambert and Connolly?
  18. "50,000" what though... REALLY hope they both stay fit and would love to see one if not both beating Beckford... who I could see getting picked up by a mid to lower third Premier League club like Hull or Wigan.
  19. We've scored twice as many goals this season as to the same point last season. We're winning games and creating chances handsomely and for the first time in many years I'm really enjoying listening to Saints games (despite the iPlayer nonsense). COYY
  20. Yeah, I found that on every game this season. Commentary doesn't cut out for the opposition and its nice to hear what others think of our club.
  21. My brother, also a Saints fan now lives in Northampton, and in his wisdom last year he paid for my American girlfriend (not well versed in English tradition.... I couldn't find any other excuse for going to the game) and I to attend a Northampton game as a home fan. It reminded me of attending games in the early 80s - everything just seemed really stark and a bit too "real." We were there in March when the Cobblers were struggling to avoid relegation and it was cold and miserable. Plaudits to those that attended yesterday - I heard Saints songs multiple times on the commentary. Onwards for a 'glamour' tie next round. I'd be happy with putting several past a club with an ex-Saints player or two.
  22. Sounds like Lambert was kept quiet again and we battled hard against a top 6 team. Not unhappy with 2-2 though am a little concerned about the amount of goals conceded. Not that worried about Lambert really, as we scoring goals from all over the place including against Arsenal yesterday according to the Daily Express. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/141803/Southampton-s-Darren-Bent-strikes-to-smash-Arsenal-dreams
  23. Brighton have been a touch fortunate - every bounce or clearance has been favourably landing at the feet of their players. Jaidi has been caught out a few times though. Antonio has been shut down by their full back and now have a man spare to track him everytime he receives the ball. Lambert is being man marked by their big centrehalf. May need a little Lallana magic to unlock this one for us.
  24. The first mile will take a while as everyone is bunched together and walking. Don't let this make you think its affecting your overall time and rush to 'catch up' time and run an even race. NYC marathon's are noisy - bands and people cheering everywhere particularly on Manhattan - enjoy it and soak it in. Sunday looks like the best day of the week for weather here, and rained almost all day yesterday, hopefully it will stay somewhat cool for you. Good luck!!
  25. Hahaha. Really funny article and I particularly enjoyed the use of satire (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/satire) perhaps you gents/ladies should take a quick read of the definition after you've taken a deep breath. Ignoring the American's use of wit, because (my turn to generalise now) that's what most Brits do when they think of the American sense of humour, many Americans are not brought up to believe there future lives will need to have anything to do with this foreign language and are disaffected with our sport. In the eight years I've been here and witnessed NFL, NBA, MLS and college (university in our language) equivalent sport, its the way the athletic programs are setup for students that allows them to excel in more profitable pursuits than football in America. College's well developed sporting programs are setup to encourage students to graduate into professional athletes in the NFL, NBA even pro golf and play those sports in North America where their lives exist, rather than football. Soccer is a massively growing 'alternative' sport in the US played by everyone up to college, boys and girls - look at the success of the US women's national team, but is essentially only played to our sixth form level and then students are offered a chance at an education free of charge (or heavily subsidised) to learn and play for a university. Yes, there are soccer scholarships but they are fewer in number than most other American sports. America grew and created its own sports possibly because the Pilgrims were attempting to create something different to the place they were escaping when they first landed at Plymouth Rock. However many Americans will find time to enjoy our sport, as much as many Brits enjoy the NBA, NFL and NHL. Just out of curiosity have any you watched a full game of those three sports? And or college sport?
