Thanks for the suggestion SM.

Daft question - but has anyone found a link for televised coverage of the game? I've made do with Test Match Special on radio.
-
Do we still have Andrej Pernecky as well? Read some good things about him from reserve games. That makes five keepers...and only seven forwards... gulp.
-
Now that is special. Thanks Steve!

Erm, perhaps I've had a couple of ****tails too many this evening but I doubt he'd be offering the entire 2.7 billion to us... we're not exactly a profitable club at this stage... I'll be happy if we're merely stable and can hold onto our players for a couple of years, get back into the CC at worst and build from there. Fecking delighted that one of the strongest links I have to home are still going to be alive.

I watched a Northampton game a couple of months ago at Sixfields, my brother's way of showing my American girlfriend British culture on a recent trip home...bloody comedian. The game was bleak, some nice elements of skill from younger individual players when they weren't being knocked off the ball by some rather industrial defending. Pitch was awful, lumpy and lots of exposed muddy areas. Oh, and the crowd was made up of 80% mutants. Other than that, I've no experience.

That's a fair question. By "lower teams' ambitions" do you mean minor leagues? The answer is - they are really not catered to beyond being feeder teams for the established professional teams in leagues such as MLB, NFL, NBA etc. (At least as far as I understand). However, the MLS is a little different as its still building and generating a fanbase, so they are open to new 'franchise' teams such as San Diego.

The American attitude to sport has taken me much of the eight years I've been here to appreciate. Sport is entertainment and as such should be considered a fair contest between teams as part of a televised program. Actually that sounds quite American. A few observations: - In professional sport (baseball, American football, basketball etc) the team with the worst record (West Brom this season in the Premier) receive the first pick of the best player from college football and the team with the best record has last pick. - Players have salary caps and teams have a limit on the salary they can pay (this doesn't apply to baseball - see Yankees $200 million a year salary bill). - Televised games are dictated purely by television. I've attended college football games where the play stops for television commercials. Yet, there are still 90,000 to 120,000 people at most college football games regardless of whether its televised. - Although the television programs that show the games have heavily commercial backing the NBA, NFL, MLB and MLS teams uniforms/shirts don't carry commercial endorsement. Not saying that its right or wrong, purely interesting to see how its done differently. Sports teams move around and franchises can be bought etc., but the poorest are given a sporting chance to survive not used as a feeder for the richer clubs and left to die. Fingers crossed things get sorted out soon. I feel in limbo. Just waiting.

This has be saved as a golden post. One of the funniest things I've read on here in ages. Thanks SC.

Ok, that's me signing off for the season and will be hoping the new owner steps in soon. Enjoy the sunshine chaps and chapesses.

Wolves this Friday in US?

Likewise, I ran a search through Setanta's broadband, premium and regular channels. Nada. However, now that spring has sort of arrived in NYC - I might just head out and enjoy the sunshine versus sitting in smelly Nevada Smiths watching us get beaten again -
Woohoo! McG!! ANd the commentators just answered my question - 28,000
-
Any idea of the attendance figure yet? Lots of people on Saintslist were suggesting its close to a sell out (bar the bits that are closed)

Razorlight at Filmore NYC were great. Top shows in 08 were: Verve at MSG BRMC at Filmore Supergrass at Webster Hall

Heading home for a visit from 10th - 25th of March - any good recommendations on car rental that's not going to cost an arm and a leg. Looking to pick up at Heathrow, drive around Southern England and head back to Heathrow on 25th.

I've switched to an iPhone from a BBerry and have a few observations: - Phone call quality is dreadful to the point of be unsuable for business. i have lived in the same apartment on Manhattan for 3 years and have used a Blackberry for phone calls without much problem. With the iPhone one in three calls is dropped or is difficult to hear. I've gone back to Apple who have replaced the phone three times to see if it improves but acknowledge its a frequently reported issue. - Battery life is awful and yesterday the battery died after 6 hours of having it in my pocket not being used. Today I've turned off all the location based and push functions to see if it will maintain a charge longer... but its still losing power quite quickly. 3G has come too soon for mobile devices in my opinion; we don't have small enough, affordable mobile batteries that can support the demand for power. - No copy and paste. This might seem like a minor trivial item to bring up but I often find myself stuck wanting to email, SMS or share information in mulitple formats without having to retype it - e.g. address of restaurants or names etc. - Unable to open multiple apps simultaneously. If I'm calling home in the UK and want to use a calling card, I'm not able to open a contact number in my addressbook, type it into the keypad on the phone and switch back again to get the rest of the number or switch back and forth between the map or an email to type in directions etc. - $1 for ringtones of songs I already own?!?! - Camera quality is poor. My BBerry had a flash, ability to zoom before taking a pic and decent image quality. - MMS is less of an issue for me as I'll email the image instead. Summary; iPhone is a great toy phone with some great tricks.

Patterson scores with his first touch!! Let's work on this goal difference! Lovely stuff.
-
Woohooo!!! Jason Euell gets a second from a long flick over the top by the sounds of it!! Get it. Come on Preston and QPR get a couple and I'll be a happy lad tonight.
-
Chelsea leading finally.
-
Ipswich booed off. Lovely.
-
Davies spills ball, Euell puts it behind for a corner. From the corner Jon Stead puts it wide. Probably last action of first half.
-
2 mins of first half remain. Ipswich coming back into the game. Watching the Skate game its raining really hard - awful looking night, incidentally Ballack has just hit the crossbar. It sounds windy in Ipswich - any idea if its wet as well?
-
Really nice opportunity for Saga just pushed wide.
