If we fail to go up this season John, the team will be dismantled the manager and backroom staff will leave and we'll have to start all over again - Deeming the last 2 seasons on the playing side an utter waste of time, i don't think we can afford that.

Having holmes fit and confident would be like having a new signing, he's too good for this level as he showed with Wallsall when he had an injury-free run.

Christ sake. I'm not worried because i trust the people in charge know what they are doing, they've demonstrated that throughout last season. I'm confused by how many people that believe we need all these new players, why? We got rid of the dead wood over the summer, pard's did say the squad was too big - so we got the numbers down and we've so far added 2 quality additions to the full back slots. We will sign more cover over the next few weeks, i promise you that - but it doesn't really matter if that's before the start of the season or not, because our ''first team'' is competitive and complete.

Anyone remember Pardew's comments after the Ajax game last year? Something along the lines of ''playing teams like this isn't always the best preperation'' So is it beyond the realms of possibility that Pardew stopped us lining up a high profile team? And the club didn't see ''Reading'' as a fitting fixture to portray the Trophy, so they didn't do it this year? No - it must be down to Cortese and his masterplan to destroy the club.

Alot of the pompey fans think that this is very good news? as it will force a takeover through? are they for real? they just live in their fish tanks bobbing away...

That vid has wet my appetite for the new season even more. I cannot wait...

do be quiet, most of us aren't ****ting oursevles over non-rumours.

it's hard to tell what is these days!

How would a charlton fan know? he's probably nursing a slight knock, or he wasn't up to the level of fitness of the other players. We'll probably see him on saturday.
-
have i missed something? i've only seen a made up chelsea rumour where they'd pay £8m for him. Other than that he's training with the first team as usual.

I think this will put the debate ''saints can beat engalnd'' to bed.

tbf this is the sort of game you need in a pre-season, not a thrashing.....but a hard workout, not just an easy 13-0 win against some 8th division Swedish team or whatever. far more beneficial in the long run to have an early workout like this IMO.

i don't think we're good enough, we need lots of new players by tomorrow. Alps was right all along

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Edwards has lost his way a little bit, but as long as he hasn't lost too much pace, he'll be a good signing - always remember him being a very quick and skillful winger. -
It wasn't great, but we expect too much of these star players at club level these days - for them to go out and perform for another 4 weeks at high altitude is sometimes a bit too much. It's not going to really be remembered for it's football, more about how Africa came together and supported it as one. They did a fantastic job at the end of the day when a lot of people doubted their ability to host it. That's the great thing about the world cup, it's the only event in the world that unites every single country - even North Korea got in on the action! I think the best team won it though IMO, although Germany pushed them hard - you needed to be pretty good to beat the Germans this time round. I'm still going to miss it though, you can't beat having a football match on every day! Bring on Brazil...

it's ok, we've got forecast! oh

Shame and surprising given his comments in the echo a few weeks ago. Maybe the contract offer he received was not what he wanted? either way i think he's too good to be a backup GK in L1, he deserves first team football somewhere.
-
Surprised Danns hasn't moved before now, would still be surprised to see him sign for us though as we tried and failed in january - and that was when they were strapped for cash, it's a ''little'' bit easier for them now. As for Tyson, who knows? Was made aware of Pard's interest in him back in the january window, but no idea what movement happened then.

Company's carry on without the chief executive, and if he's on holiday - so will we. the club secretary takes care of most matters. And i can't imagine us signing anyone else until they're back from Switzerland anyway.

Jackson is just the sort of striker we're crying out for.

i think it's one of those kits that will look better once you see it in the flesh, the pictures don't really show it off that well. The video on saints player gives you a bit more detail though.
