  1. "This is our way, this is our philosophy", Hasenhuttl said about swapping the Portuguese full-back for Kyle Walker-Peters. "For the club and for him it is for the best."
  2. It shouldn't happen, but when you have an owner without a pot to **** in, there's always a chance this will go through unfortuntley - and without replacements. I don't want to see it, but i can see it happening.
  3. #playerleaves-automaticallybecomesworsteversaintsplayer To be fair, he wasn't great and I've never been a huge fan - but he's still better than what we have at RB. We'll lose a lot of experience with him going.
  4. Would make sense for him to go, he doesn't play here and he's not really that good. I guess this puts an end to any Vestergaard to Leicester deal.
  5. Ralph did say we didn't address that problem in the summer, and we needed to address it in this window. We're going to end this window the same, with less experience in full back. The only saving grace I guess is that KWP can play right or left back, but then anyway...we've just lost our starting right back so he's primarily going to be there.
  6. Sheff U close to signing Sander Berge for £28m They've not had to sell anyone either
  7. It's just how you look at it - just look at how we've dealt over the last couple of years. We couldn't get Che in before we sold Targett for example, there has been a general increasing theme that we HAVE to sell or move on before we can obtain anyone new. We wouldn't have brought in KWP had Cedric's move not materialised, I'm sure of it. Even though we could have done with KWP anyway. It could be the wage bill that's holding us back, I don’t know, but the general theme at this club over the past 2/3 years is that we must sell and generate cash before we can go and add to the squad. That puts us on the back foot every window. Maybe we're clearing the wage bill and holding back on spending so we can have a blitz in the summer.... but who thinks that is likely with this shamble’s ownership? I don't. It'll likely be the same as previous windows, sell before we can buy. We'll probably sell someone unexpected to fund a move for someone.
  8. Anything can happen, although very unlikley. Liverpool look a bit jaded at the mo, bit tired, griding out results rather than blitzing as they have been. We've got them at the right time in sense of tiredness I think...just before their 'break' - and they have to lose at somepoint, this season or next season...someone will have to beat them. If we put them under pressure and scare them with our running in the final third, then who knows. Not expecting a single dot of anything, but there's nothing wrong with a tiny bit of hope at the unlikley.
  9. This is the crux of it! We started the month with 'full back is our focus, need strengthening there'. It started to look pretty unlikley we'd even manage to get KWP on loan through the door, but the tone of one player leaving...Goas ears poked up - now we can get KWP in! But we're now in the same place at full back, albiet with less experience. Ralph must be having kittens, surely.
  10. We've got no chance. All I can say is enjoy us at the mo! Ralph won't put up with any of this **** anymore I don't think.
  11. We've got situations with the likes of Bertrand, PEH, Romeu, Bofaul - all contracts with a year to run come the summer. Club will 99% want to cash in if they won't re-sign, likelihood is that they won't if they haven't already. So we've got those to replace. Then you've got Cedric, Danso (?), KWP (loan expire), Yoshida and Long to think about too - they all leave at the end of the season. On top of that, we already need CB's, CM's, then we need to have a stormer. I’m a tiny bit optimistic that maybe the club are looking get a few high earners off, then bolster the squad all over - but I've tried to be optimistic for the last 3 years. Likelihood is that we will end the transfer window weaker than we started it. Just a hunch based on previous experience and an owner who doesn’t want to invest.
  12. #logjamofrightbacks
  13. I've never been a huge Cedric fan, not been one of my favs for sure. I won't be too fussed he goes, he won't be replaced by 'better' though. What gets me is that we seemingly have to still sell before we can even loan now, the only reason this KWP stuff has sped up is because Cedric is going. That deal wouldn't have happened had we not managed to move someone on. We will be relegated at some point if this carries on.
  14. Yeah 100% agree with that. You can't deny his technical ability, he's got it all. But as you said, his desire and application to professional football is why he has never made it and probably why he won't ever make it. He may say differently when he looks in his bank, but I still think a player with his talent should have achieved more in his career. A bit of a wasted career really.
  15. But at the same point, there must be a reason why Maehle hasn't gone anywhere. He keeps being linked, spoken about as being super cheap etc - but he's still at Genk. Must be something fishy there.
  16. Stop with this equality bull**** already and let us lead our lives as we wish. Nanny state.com
  17. So we now rely on getting in loan fees before we can strengthen our side Totally skint!
  18. I think we're nervous to play him at CB as he's so ****.
  19. I thought we palyed really well today, looked a threat and got a well deserved goal. Struggling to work out what Danso is to be honest, he has not taken his chances at all. Looked rubbish. JWP full of energy, Armstrong I thought was buzzing around - so I hope that injury isn't too bad. Ings should have done better with that header at the end, he looked ****ed with himself. Overall, we're still in the hat...! Good performance and we look a pretty decent side now days.
  20. I don't see the point in £20m when it will just disapear. I hate our ownership and how much they're holding us back, we could really go forward because we have a terrific manager here, like top level european manager in the MP mould - back him! Let him build a proper team in his way and we'd be having the time of our lives! He's going to get bored eventually as there's only so much he can do with this group.

    Che Adams

Probably true. He's not had many chances, and I can't remember too many clear cut efforts when he has - apart from the hitting the bar in one game. He's been utterly ****, let's be frank. He's got attributes there I'm sure, but he's been a bit rubbish. A non-goal scorring striker isn't what we need, and we've got two of them in Che and Long!! Luckily we have goals from elsewhere!
  22. Holy ****, some blasts from the past on here! I think we've all had some good run ins with Alpine over the years, although I'll be honest I did let him rile me a bit in my younger years! I genuinley hope he's OK in his health though. I've been posting on here since 2007ish I think (well, SaintsForever before that), time flys when you're having fun..? It's been a crazy decade and a bit, and look at where the club has been during that time. Down in the dephs and then some of the best years of our history. I didn't know about Saintlee though, that's really sad. I shared a few chats with him in the past!
  23. An amazing run of away form, which has moved us to a position of looking up rather than down. I can't quite believe we're 9th, it's ridiculous considering where we were 7 weeks ago - insane turn around. Credit to Ralph who has energised us again and the players for responding. Take a bow Jack Stephens though, he’s the biggest revelation in this turn around. Where on earth has he been hiding? Christ, if we sorted our home form out, we'd be up there challenging for Europe. Maybe we have a chance to sort that out in the coming weeks? Next 3 home games in the league - Burnley Newcastle Villa And then West Ham and Norwich sandwiched around them. We've got a chance here to give ourselves a really comfortable end to the season.
  24. That LD Sports thing still absolutely stinks. More so than it did, because even these months on it's still a company of nothingness who can apparently afford to sponsor a topflight English team. And they’re Chinese. and our owner is Chinese. Let me think a second. Yeah, it's not dodgy at all. Fully legit sponsorship deal with no links to our ownership. God, once we get that stupid little man Gao out things will start looking up. Until then, it's going to be quite a lot of dodgyness.
  25. We don't have the mobility or pace in the spine of the team to deal with players such as Traore or Antonio, it really highlights our weaknesses when you see players such as those running at us. We played 'ok', but not that amazingly. We played a hell of a lot better last weekend to be fair and got a deserved win. We did get two good goals first half, but it felt like we'd never really got massive momentum and were just strolling along a little. 2nd half Wolves woke up and we struggled to contain them, their pace and power was just too much for our limited spine. It's frsutrating because of where we were first half....! But it's a bump back down to earth, and the next two games will probably be further nails in that bump. We've got some games coming up during Feb and March which should give us enough though, but my worry is a few of them are at home - and our home form is still horrific. Until we sort that out, we will continue to struggle to pull away.
