I hope we don’t get Columbia.
-
Bedernak looks utter garbage tbh. Slow, clumsy, rash. Everything you don’t want in a cb. Now watch him score!
-
Poland look utterly devoid. Columbia need to put them out of their misery.
-
Ashley young wouldn’t look out of place in the Panama team.

He is an utter ****end. Skate supporter as well for what it's worth, did my head in speaking as if they were out all game. Idiot.
-
Can Sam skate matterface do one now? He has been a clown all night

I think his point is that the price of the 'current' VVD's or Wanyama's have risen, and we're not prepared to rise with the costs - so we're still floating around in the same price bracket - 5-15m, which won't get us players as good.

Interesting comments here - http://www.talkingbaws.com/2018/06/why-stuart-armstrong-will-be-missed-at-celtic-and-be-very-welcome-at-southampton/

He had a great season at Celtic under Brendan Rogers in his first year, but after his very underwelming season last year we are once again not signing a teams standout player from a 'lesser league'. He has become a squad player at Celtic at absolute best.

And that is why English referees are playing pundits at this world cup, rather than being chosen to referee matches.

Feel a bit sorry for the likes of Peru and Costa Rica, they do it all right…but lack that superstar player, someone to play that final pass or finish that final chance. Their general play is quality and often better than their opponents, but you will always run the risk of a sucker punch.... So credit to Peru and Costa Rica at this world cup, they've approached it the right way but have just lacked the quality.
-
If we do see him as a future part of our plans, then it would have been nice to communicate with him during the loan spell.
-
There aren't any standout teams really. The two I've been most impressed by as of now are Mexico and Croatia. I do get the feeling France will start to slowly warm into it though, and they already have 2 wins whilst not playing amazingly.

I absolutely agree with that, impossible for teams to get success on all their transfers and I'm not expecting the club to get 100% on this. The issue I have is that the percentage for us has swung since that season, and a higher percentage of our deals are now not really cutting it. Hoedt, Carrillo, Boufal, Gabbiadini, Clasie, Hojbjerg, Redmond - our main and biggest signings over the last couple of windows, and they have all been relatively crap in terms of return. Compare that to the days when we signed Mane, Tadic, Toby, Pelle, Bertrand, Long - yes, we signed a couple of duds in that window in Gardos and Taider (if he counts), but the good certainly outweighed the bad. Similar the season before - Lovren, Wanyama, Osvaldo....obviously Osvaldo flopped, but the other two were mainstays. I want to see us getting back to that – I don’t expect us to never sign a dud again, but the return on successful additions needs to be much greater, otherwise we’ll just continue to throw money down the pan.

TBF i said exactly the same last season, but somehow we managed to be 10x worse. It was all VVD's fault though, apparently.

Yeah, I renewed yesterday myself. I'm also still in two minds right now as to if it was the right decision. I usually renew quite quickly, but I left it as close to the last min this year in the faint hope that they'd give us some excitement/hope before the deadline, as there were simply no other incentives for ‘early renewal’. But anyway, I still renewed anyway. Not quite sure what I'll be getting for that money yet.

Midfield won the day there. One team played with a midfield, the other team didn't. That was a true mess by Argentina. It doesn't matter if you have Messi and co, if you have no one to supply them then you're a bit screwed. Must be so frustrating for Messi..... Credit to croatia though, give their midfielders time and space and they will pick you off in time - which is what they did.
-
If you even look back to that window though....we signed Juanmi, Caulker, Martina, Clasie. Terrible additions. 3 decent signings from that window in Virgil, Cedric and Romeu. That's when the **** started to hit the fan for me.

Bournemouth Burnley Chelsea (they are in total limbo) Palace Fulham..? Spurs

I know what he means though, you'd usually see ''Les Reed and the clubs head of Recruitment are working with the manager to secure new signings'' etc. For a Jeremy Wilson puff piece to not mention Reed is interesting, maybe he's slid off via the back door hoping no one will notice.
-
The club are clearly trying to put the blame on the last two seasons down to keeping players who didn't want to be here, but that's just them covering up the issues with recruitment and management which have been far greater. There needs to be some acknowledgement that our manager choices and player choices over the last 2 and a bit seasons have been complete trash and this is what is to blame for our regression. A stroppy VVD or Fonte didn't stop us scoring goals or breaking down teams, that was due to our inability to correctly replace Mane or Pelle, and correctly replace Koeman with a more positive figure.

That was an interesting use of VAR for sure, denmark will feel a little bit agreeved - but it was a handball IMO. VAR certainly makes games interesting......
-
I think he meant fit and proper persons, which is a fair point. This takeover was held by the league for a while and we may be starting to see why.

Looks less likley by the day if we're honest.
