  1. Don't forget a flypast banner, and a protest involving throwing soft toy squirrels on to the pitch. As opposed to ducks in Lowe's day Perhaps we should campaign for Rupert's return, once he has personally solved the Brexit crisis, he'd probably be a better option that the current chancers.
  2. Saints do not have an organised fanbase, like the running of the club it is completely disjointed. The Chapel couldn't even manage to pass round an unfurled flag overhead without making an embarrassing balls up of it on Sunday. I know that some of the 'higher profile' names wanting to become celebrities rendered it to eventual ridicule but something like the a re-born SISU would be a step in the right direction.
  3. Worrying thing is that in recent years the club have come up with efforts that are worse than the mock ups on here.

Some true words here Prof although rather than support Saints some might also find a more local team to support, I've known a few Saints fans who feeling disengaged with things at SMS are now following Eastleigh

    Close Heisenberg.
  6. Yesterday was the typical end of season damp squib, made worse by Gunn's error. We stayed behind for the lap of appreciation (hardly call it lap of honour any more). As much as anything as a 'thanks' to Ralph rather than the players. This too was a bit low key compared to previous seasons (although probably better than Puel's year which I didn't attend). Surprised in some ways Ralph didn't lead the team in his customary way but probably too many 'other halves' and their kids there for that. If anything I thought RH looked a bit bored with the event, perhaps not as raucous as in Germany. Just hope he recharges his batteries, comes back, and spends some of Gao's millions in rebuilding the team.

Saw a post yesterday someone suggesting two stripes on the front but with a plain back again.
  8. Should see the suggested £35m come tumbling down though.
  9. I think the original question is raised regarding standards that we'd apply rather than ethics as Poundland or VS are likely to attract ridicule. As for the ethics of it best to avoid gambling, tobacco (already banned isn't it ?), money lending - Wonga type - sponsorship. Personally I would'nt want to see children parading those names around on the front of shirts. On a couple of other issues though, if Sir Jim Ratcliffe turned up at Staplewood with a few billion to spare (won't happen but if it did) would fans be prepared to accept the controversy surrounding having Ineos on our shirts if it lead to a few protesting every match ? If Ralph brought some investment from Austrian chums to set up Red Bull Southampton ? (I think this was discussed on here before Marcus got involved).
  10. Don't forget Ty
  11. Reminds me on the old Adkinsism about Puncheon getting on board and getting an oar in his hands...
  12. These games should be in a Saints worst ever collapses rather than comebacks thread, but since you mentioned it. The Spurs match was an Easter Monday - lunchtime - fixture c 1979 I think. Saints 3-0 up at half time, gradually allowed Spurs back into it. Eventually 3-3. Could have been worse, Spurs player went round our GK in the last minute, and rolled the ball against the post from a tight angle (looked easier to score, but not as easy as Long v Bournemouth the other week). Add Leeds 4-3 in Championship to the collapses (along with Villa at home the previous season 2-0 to 2-3, Boro 2-0 in the 89th minute, to 2-2, and Spurs in the cup, Ronny Bastardrosenthal).
  13. I've been fortunate enough to have been at some of the games referred to ( 4-3 Ipswich, 2-2 Newcastle, MK Dons) but I can't say any game comes near to the legendary Notts Forest cup tie. I wasn't there as too young, but from what older relatives told me, it really must be the ultimate. Honourable mention though to the 1-1 v Villa in January 1976 with Hughie Fisher's last minute goal. Okay not spectacular in 'just geting a late equaliser' but look where it ended. 2-2 League Cup S/F First leg at Elland Road in 1979 worth a mention also.
  14. Sounds a bit Admiral Sheffield Utd from the late 70's. (Assuming two red stripes at the front).
  15. Impressive stuff. You could never doubt his commitment to the cause when playing although this is easily eclipsed by his dedication and fund raising since.

    Toomer

Very sad to read about the loss of Toomer. Was a good poster who made sensible and valued contributions on quite a few threads. Will be missed. Thoughts are with his family.
  17. Scouse v North London yobbos.
  18. Agreed.
  19. As they were playing Pompey, the incidents are likely to be 'pompey-related' .
  20. Where did that come from ?
  21. Comment from Catlin: Does he think some other team were playing there that day as well ?
  22. In for 'both positions' quite possibly, but two at £20m a piece seems unlikely given our finances.
  23. City haven't been playing with too much swagger recently, been expecting them to stutter at some point and drop points, though hoping they don't.
  24. If we're talking £20m plus, I'd have though Augustin was more likely to be targeted having performed in a stronger league than Belgium.

    Danny Ings

Thank's again Les. The ultimate insult and p!ss take in this deal is L/pool inserting a sell on clause. Wonder if Reed added these into the deals for VD & Mane in case they move on to Real Madrid.
