It's been like this before. Only saving grace is that if you support a proper club then it's days like these that make the victories and success all the sweeter. Not a great crumb of comfort in the here and now though. Could be worse - imagine losing 4-1 away to Accrington Stanley.

I tend to follow May-Z's interpretation on this and the timing of it. I think several people commented on here that Rohl was nowhere to be seen for a week or so before the announcement. There article states has left his role as First Team Assistant Manager and has returned to Germany , not that he has left Saints to take up the post at Bayern. Had this been the case then no doubt the club would have issued a more self indulgent article praising their staff and recruitment in the first place. It wouldn't be like SFC not to want to flag up what a great stepping stone we are to your next career move.

To be replaced by others who have routinely proven not to be up to it either. Accept that Romeu may be a better selection than PEH, although Romeu is critiscised after a couple of games for lack of mobility. Defensively, I wonder why Yoshida doesn't get a run but again after a couple of games theres a costly mistake. Ditto Vestergaard, although his mistake could be costly and within the first match. Redmond, yes, I'd agree his selection seems to be based on the vague hope he recaptures the form from last season, the one and only season in his career he's shown any form.

Disagree to lay this entirely with Ralph. Club is rotten from the top, mismanaged, p!ss poor recruitment over three seasons, and he's working with a rag-tag assortment of coaches assembled by others. Of course we'd like to know more about Rohl's departure and whether this was down to him, but we probably won't get to the bottom of that.

Problem being nearly all available options are a similar standard of sh!t. I said at the end of last season that I would be happy not to see any of them in a Saints shirt again, including last years POTS , Redmond, who had just had the only decent season in his career to date. Unfortunately the 'board' were unable to get rid of the dross, and Rdmond has reverted to type, ie crap.

Shouldn't we have scouts and others watching and providing him with input on the upcoming opposition ? (I recall Adkins said that was down to Crosby, and Lawrie once gave John Mortimore credit for much of this )Not looking to completely absolve him of blame but it does seem we are ill-prepared in every respect. Perhaps we have delegated this duty to one of the many goalkeeping coaches we have.

I hope our scouting network are keeping a close watch on Boufal's kitchen table as well as I believe that has made more meaningful challenges than most of our defenders or midfield players this season.

Read this on the BBC match thread: Steve Brown, whoever he is, could probably be regarded as a fairly impartial observer so it's interesting to read that view.

Seems barely plausible and quite a stretch of the imagination to believe that to be honest. Nelly appeared on a clip of a pre-season meeting and it was said she was struggling with speaking English and still learning. Perhaps she speaks German and learnt that as a second language. Or does Kat speak Mandarin so they converse in that ?

Despite the lower attendance, and I suspect there were less people in the ground than given by the official figures, I thought the support in the second half was much better than usual when the teal started to rally. Read someone saying that support improves as the team gets sh!tter,and there seems some truth in that as the stands contained people who wanted to be there and support Saints rather than 'tourists' and Chinese students taking selfies. For the last 15 minutes it reminded me of the support at The Dell in our annual relegation scrap in the 90's.

I've avoided the bandwagon critiscising JWP but for much of the first 65 minutes yesterday I was seeing that his critics had a valid case as his passing and contribution seemed woeful. Credit where it's due for the free kick which was something MLT would have been proud of and out of context with the rest of the game, but I didn't see much in his game overall. That said PEH, didn't seem to offer anything creative for most of he game. That said, I certainly didn't agree with the singing Romeu's name in the second half as we know his contribution would have been more muscle but little creativity.

Also remember Saints playing the Japan national side in a pre-season friendly at The Dell in the early c1971 or 72. Won 6-2.

Note the comment on the OS that he'll start work early 2000. Hope this doesn't mean no Head of Recruitment until Matt Crocker has his feet under the table.
