I'd still like the quality goalscorer or striker we have been after since last summer. Hooper would be first choice but seemingly not available. Puncheon's return probably rules out Sordell. After that I would still like a CB and a GK , as injury to Kelvin leaves us needlessly up sh!t street in a panic.

I've been a bit nomadic at SMS, sitting in all but the Chapel stands. Kingsland north/Northam corner has become home of late. East Stand at The Dell.

I would have liked to have seen Dickson given a chance at LM in AL's absence. -

Amidst all the clamour for a striker, and new CB - yes, both needed - I am still concerned about our GK options, and believe we need a reliable back up for Kelvin, if not a long term replacement. -

Where does the idea that they will sell at all come from ? -

To some extent I agree, but how many signings have West Ham made ? The only difference is that Saints do not announce our interest from the rooftops everytime we make an enquiry.

Yes I remember that with reference to maybe a loan, maybe a big signing.Think it was after Coventry.

But to be honest that has been his stock answer to questions on the transfer front every window. Although it did seem remarkably less upbeat than the last two interviews, which may be due to the nature of the defeat as much as the pending transfer situation. He did also, I think, use the phrase 'unacceptable' about the performance, and said 'you could find things out about people' in their performance. It was a muted interview but along with some cliches, it was out of the 'don't get too high...or too low if we lose' school of management. Probably better than a ranting tirade, and less entertaining than some would have made it.

What some people have not realised is that it is the first pioneering 'rebel' teenage generation who first wore denim, are those now reaching their 60's and 70's having been the youngsters and set the trend in motion. I attended a funeral for my cousin a couple of weeks ago, he was amongst the 1950's/60's James Dean era who pioneered the jeans, casual wear era, I don't think many would have told him to his face that he was too old for such fashion.

That is not necesarily an age issue, more of a 1970's timewarp.

Yes, an invaluable contribution to our survival during his limited time with us. -

They didn't buy him, he was released after his contract expired as far as I recall. -

If you are only measuring it by cost sold less original cost of purchase then Richards, and Kevin Davies are clearly out on their own. If we're looking at cost and the benefits they've brought to the club then thats a different matter altogether, and off the top of my head I'd nominate: Ron Davies - £60,000 , survival and more in the oldDiv One Alan Ball - £50,000 - promotion to Div One, and establishing ourselves there playing some great football John McGrath/Jimmy Gabriel - can't even recall the fee - inspired signings who helped steady a leaky defence, and become the 'Alehouse' team. Jimmy Case - £20,000 took over the Alan Ball role. -
Give the bloke some private time here, he's travelling around the globe so he's at his parents house where his mum has cooked his favourite meal for him. Could be worse, he could be on the front pages of a Japanese tabloid (The Rising Sun ?) pictured as ****ed as a newt coming out of a Hiroshima night club before joining us.But at least he is not conducting himself like Gazza. Oh by the way, I too would expect him to get his arse over here to Staplewood asap as well, but will not get too worried for a few more days yet.

I fear you might be correct, although people will no doubt scrutinise other teams line ups today, to see who is missing, without sound explanation, and set off on another route. -

Agree that we are a striker short, but also light in cover for CB and a GK in my view. -

Well that used to be par for the course - Charlie George,Perry Groves, Delgado more recently even - but I had hoped signing crocks was a thing of the past.
