The "leaks" are from elsewhere, and like you I suspect there may be some use of our interest to lever a better contract. There is probably more than one game of brinkmanship going on here, as well as our interest.

Alan McLoughlin - Our first £1m disaster signing.
-
Sadly, I think you'll be proved correct. Rhodes would be £5/6m before Huddersfield even consider it, and even then they will probably hold out for more.
-
Yeh, good points made there. And while we are looking for an outsider to steam up the league, I think Clotterill will turn Forest into play off contenders shortly, they can't go on with this run of bad luck which has blighted them recently (over the last nine games or so).

Agree, Reading are one of those nondescript clubs who are there just to irritate, but at the moment are putting a good run together.
-
Surely a topic deserving of its own thread ?
-
Yes, how does it compare with the SPL ? I think we should be told.
-
Thanks for a fairly reasoned and balanced post !

No. I think this has been covered earlier in either this thread,or post-match thread re NA's comments in interview. General view is that it is another player,in addition to Lee, from what NA says/or way it is said.

Fair point.

All good reasons, although I doubt the salary would be less at Celtic.

Bit of a vendetta against his least liked player going on there...
-
He was amazing for the first season I agree, but in his second season I think he lived up to the lazy p!ss poor attitude that many had expected. Why ? Don't know, but word at the time was Mark Hughes influence in the dressing room had caused major unrest.

Agree. Actually I think the fee was c £20,000, which also underlined at the time that we were getting a bloke who had already been 'pensioned off'. Frank Worthington is another candidate. Pretty uninspiring for the first couple of months, but January - April* he was superb (1983/4) in our cup run,and run to finish second. * of course it should have been to May,but I think he had a fall out with Lawrie, or Lawrie decided to run with the youngsters for next season , and Frankie was out of favour. Great shame we had not signed him c1979/80 to play in our great one touch team with Channon,Ball, and KK.

Cox would be a good signing for this league without a doubt. Question is though whether we are signing for NPC or possibly with one eye on the Prem league ? I just hope our (over?)ambitious approach does not leave us without the necessary recruit for the remainder of the season.
-
I have thought this for a while now, especially in view of inflated costs associated with domestic players. If we are considering spending £4-5-6m perhaps, then we might better value on the continent (Vossen was a name bandied about in the summer) than here (relatively inexperienced Rodriguez for example).

Why Saints fans got arrested against Brighton.
Badger replied to PhilippineSaint's topic in The Saints
And how many Palace fans were arrested by our gay friendly constabulary that day ? -
Might have been a red card on Planet D'Urso though

Disgraceful sexist comment from you young Ottery. Write out 100 lines "I must not make crewd suggestive remarks on the main board".
-
Lennon really is a knob for talking about this publicly. The only reason I can see is to bring our interest in to the open in order to start an auction involving some of the Prem clubs who have previously been watching him.
-
Might be spelt incorrecectly and should read Eling nr Totton, in which case it'll be a done deal as we always sign players with local connections (Vokes, Jukiewitz, Stock, Howard, Holly Vallance etc ).
-
Did he not play today then ?
-
Billy Sharp looks a bit of a porker as well. But in truth both he and Hooper - if they're in your team - might be described as sturdy or stocky."Fat bastard" if in the opposition side.
