Who was your favourite foreign Saints player? (current players don't count)
Badger replied to dune's topic in The Saints
I tried looking for that goal by Golac to answer Le Goddard's question earlier about how good he was.Pretty amazing really that as a right back he is in the position of a right winger to take the header from Channon . To bring that up to date for younger supporters that is Richardson or Butterfield being roughly where Barnard was to score the first against Peterboro at St Marys this season.See that happening, with the same quality finish ? No, neither can I. I did find the following Golac clip from his time as manager of Dundee Utd. This was in a derby v Dundee in which he puts a Dundee player on the deck. Legendary status up there as well for that and winning the Cup. -

If you look at the team photo for that season I think a couple of players are wearing the alternative version ?

Golac was played at right back but on form he was a right back-right midfield and right winger combined; he really took control of that side of the pitch and he played some great one touch football with Ball,Channon and Steve Williams. As a defender he was hard,a good tackler and very strong. He would not have been out of place in the 'Alehouse' team in the 60's. He would frquently turn defence to attack . Probably the best right back in my time supporting Saints (late 60's onwards). -

He was a 'shoe-in' for it. If Arabs have such things. -

Pulis- wasn't he welsh -
Agree with most of your point but not that these two would be short term signings. On the contrary infact, as I think both have potential, and in Pilkington's case fully expect him to reach the Prem and perform there.

The 'thin stripe' is a little worrying.

At the moment the GD's and goals scored do not seem to be doing the job of seperating the teams. Never mind. We are probably ahead in the conference co-ordinators column.

I don't normally claim to be ITK but a good connection of mine in the catering trade reckons our next big signing will be French, a highly regarded Chef de cuisine. Surprised with his other connections Cortese does not bring in some Italian waiters as well. -

My only problem with that is the fact some of our best conferencing co-ordinators have previously looked to leave the academy to co=ordinate conferences at The Emirates etc. -

He's only 23,so as far as conferencing co-ordinators go, I'd say he's one for the future. We need strength in depth, even in the catering department FFS. -
Now that would be amusing, and I suspect Cotterrill will want to go if given the option,as he probably knows he might be on a few weeks in the new season to impress the new owners before he's on his way again.

Definitely amongst the biggest 'pullers' in the division. Yes if he fulfills his potential.

No, he spent a fortune to help them become mediocre, albeit with one glorious run in Europe.

Home shirt would be alright. Not impressed by the away shirt template but it does seem likely in view of how widely it has been circulated elsewhere. Personally I think the black away shirt has been done to death, every club going has had one over the last few seasons. Ditto for yellow/blue although this has stretched over forty years now, although the navy/yellow strip of two seasons ago was a good variation on the theme. I would not rule out a sky/navy combination making a return. and yes good work by the original post.

No, I think his 'moment' was in 1978 when Archie Gemmill made a monkey of him.
