  1. I was impressed by his performance in the Carling Cup match, but not sure reading others observations over the play offs that he would be up to it. Their GK in the cup game, Heaton looked okay, although I now hope we are aiming higher.
  2. Interesting summary, and agree with your conclusion; how much easier it is to settle in a side brimmimg with confidence and the right type of senior player to nurture the new talent. Think I'd divide it into three categories, making the breakthrough, making the grade (at what level is debatable), and fulfilling potential.
  3. I've just seen the article, what a load of b0ll0cks !
  4. It was a joke many years ago that Liverpool was really the capital of Ireland, perhaps this proves it.
  5. Cancelled.Just seen on Twitter Some numpty in Sainsbury's told the Echo the club had made a bulk order of Twiglets for the event so its off.

Two extreme views, some truth in both though. It was largely down to Jones better signings that enabled the team to move on, Richards, Marsden,Pahars, Beattie. That said, it was also his p!ss poor signings, and their attitude that saw us heading for the drop before he was relieved of his duties, ie Palmer (in his second season with us),Hirst, Hughes,Ripley. He also made some dreadful signings for us - Todd, Marshall (OG). ln the end Lowe was right to remove him, and I'm convinced he would have gone a couple of months sooner on the back of results had it not been for the court case hanging over him. Seems a nice bloke though, and I would not begrudge him his 'success' elsewhere since.
  7. Would certainly get my vote as the best 'team goal' I've seen in over 40years. It is however more than the twenty years suggested by the OP so not up for votes here. In the last twenty years, it has to be MLT's first vNewcastle 1994.
  8. I was always too busy watching the old codgers hanging up the scores on the scoreboard to pay too much attention to the Albion Band at half time. But they are preferable to the bald mincer conducting the entertainment nowadays, what an embarassment.
  9. RAF dog displays. Complete with a guest appearance by the Laughing Policeman.
  10. Were we linked with a GK in Germany ? The only one I recall was playing in the Netherlands.
  11. okay, perhaps I should only include the big six in that, ( and Everton who are just arseholes stuck in a timewarp and still wallowing in the Howard Kendall era).
  12. And how has that been received amongst the squad ? Wasn't it also "blabbed" to the Echo last season as well ?
  13. Matches against real other clubs, with proper supporters rather than glory seeking arseholes.

Linking the above posts the answer is obvious: The Anasol Rupert Stadium. Has a certain 'ring' to it, don't you think ?

It will remain St Mary's as far as I'm concerned. But of course it should have been named The Rupertdome in 2001.
  18. Probably not as "devastated" as Fat Sam is about not going to Vegas due to the play offs though.
  19. woman..
  20. (submarine) beaten to it !!
  21. Original Badger reporting for duty.
  22. The original post did say most memorable other than the finals of 1976 and 2003, hence no mention of "..Stokes, he's onside...one -nil" as David Coleman described it. As for Hugh Fishers equaliser, you can only really judge the moment as it was at the time, not in hindsight. So unless you had the benefit of clairvoyance in the 92nd minute of the match v Villa and knew instantly where it would lead, it was at the time a great equaliser in stopage time. Moran on the other hand, at Fratton..last kick of the game.. Fishers goal was quite memorable for me for private reasons, as my late father was a big fan of Hugh Fisher (if only to cause healthy debate in our house about the more illustrious members of the side I banged on about, ie Channon,Osgood, Steele..).
  23. Nice touch, and good story.
  24. Yes, although still only a worthy runner up to Moran 1984.
