  1. One thing I always find odd is that people often expect an alien life-form to be technologically advanced. There are millions of species on Earth that have evolved to be very efficient and perfectly adapted to their environment, many that vastly outnumber us. There is only one species out of the millions on Earth that has any real interest in technology, if there is life anywhere else, the chances are they would be about as interested or aware of us as the average ant.

Here come the Cameron luvvies out in force again...
  3. Loads of places in Norway, but probably not touristy enough for most. The prices scare most people off too.
  4. Black Swan Green by David Mitchell. Lovely book, the sort you don't put down again until you've finished it.
  5. It's not really Matthew Le Tissier you know Delldays.
  6. Is it? I have so many I get confused. Is deppo one of mine too? If so, I am doing pretty well. A full list would be handy if you have the time, cheers.
  7. Who the **** is Deano6?
  8. For most of his time at Saints I relied on match reports on saintsforever to hear first hand reports. Every week a very large proportion of those reports criticised him for not working hard enough and often being a bit ineffective. Then he got injured and everyone then started saying he was great and did the important stuff nobody noticed. I'd never heard any of that until he was injured. then he eventually came back and everyone started saying he was largely ineffective again. then he left and everyone said he did all the important stuff nobody noticed. I have no idea how good he really was, but he seemed to be a better player when he wasn't in the team.
  9. the bible looks lightly on rape in many places, here's the punishment given in the bible: (Deuteronomy 22:23-24 NAB) If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her, you shall bring them both out of the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbors wife.
  10. I'm sure FF doesn't really think somebody saying so on this forum is proof of a story. He probably asks some bloke down the pub too, or maybe a taxi driver.
  11. Don't understand why hitting a child is more OK than hitting an adult or why it should be considered a good way of teaching anyone how to behave. I'm very glad it's illegal here as hitting children at all is pretty barbaric. Also, when I was a teacher in England I saw that it was pretty much only the children who were hit at home that saw it as acceptable to hit other children. Any comments about "just a light smack" are pretty daft as well, the child understands it's been hit and that was the way they understand a situation can be dealt with.
  12. I've seen Christians hitting children. I've heard Christians say teachers should be hitting children. I've also heard Christians say awful things about Muslims, calling them evil people and saying they must be stopped. I've heard of Christians abusing children. I consider all of these things wrong either way round.
  13. You think you're so funny that you don't realise how much of a knob you come across as.
  14. The irony is most people would consider yours a snide remark there.
  15. I am a Dune luvvie.
  16. Your posts are always a delight to read, deano, you should consider becoming a full member. Not of this forum, obviously, some other forum.
  17. Well it must have made it very unfair when played in that SWF footie match recently. Surely somebody would've noticed it then?
  18. ah chicken and fish, the staple diet of the left wing, profit making businessman vegetarian. Intolerant bastards, forcing everyone to eat like them.
  19. I'm seeing mostly sofas.
  20. They've got forums for everything.
  21. You comment on him pretty much every day and he's even in your location. You two are obsessed with each other.
  22. I wonder which there are most of, people who find deppo's posts entertaining or people who think Dune's are of any value. Genuine post as these two seem to be constantly squabbling over who is posting the most rubbish.
  23. That's not necessarily true. After we had our house built, laminate was basically what we could afford. Also having very small kids, we wanted something that would be tough, but not be a nightmare financially if it got damaged. We went for laminate and it still looks just as good four years later. When the kids are older and we can afford it, we might replace it with something else, but I've never regretted using it. A wooden floor would have had some annoying scratches in it by now that would bother me if I'd spent decent money on it. Ours was just an Ikea one. It's very easy to clean too.
