  1. I wouldn't want to see them go bust but the guy in this vid kind of sums up how I feel about their plight.
  2. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/pompey-face-ultimatum-over-unpaid-taxes-1796879.html Owing agents and clubs money is one thing but if this is true then they really could be up s*** creek - the HMRC don't mess about when it comes to money that they are owed. They are emotionless and wouldn't hesitate to wind the club up.
  3. I agree and you also need to look at what AP inherited off the pitch. Yes he ultimately will be judged by his performance on the pitch but the guy had no coaching staff and no scouting network - people often assume all scouts do is look at potential players but their core role is looking at future opponents/tactics etc. He has had to put all of this together as well as coaching the side, bringing in players etc. It will take time but it is better to do it properly than any quick fix. The strategy this season is clearly to bring in a few loans and stay up - why bring in high waged players in what to all intents and purposes is a "dead season" - next season I would expect to see a little more money spent on Championship quality players who will be more willing to come than they would have been at the start of this season. As long as we stay up - which we will - then the first part of the longer strategy will have been completed.
  4. 100% agree, I posted this on the main board thread: Storrie admits he was close to resigning last week. But he has decided to stay on after the Fratton Park fans chanted his name during Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Everton. He added: "It has been hard and frustrating. "But when the crowd sings your name, it makes you think 'Blimey, that doesn't happen to many chief executives'. "It made me feel quite humble." Or to put it another way: "It wasn't hard and frustrating signing off the inflated wages of the past few years without raising concerns as CEO to the future viability of the club, but now we are in the s*** it was really nothing to do with me you know. But when the crowd sings your name it does make you think how naive they really are and besides who else is going to pay a chancer like me nearly £1.5 million a year. It made me feel like buying a big boat at Hamble"

  6. I would hate to drive what you are driving then. The overall stopping distances in modern vehicles with ABS are nowhere near that. In a modern vehicle with ABS at 100 you would stop before you got out of the penalty area (to use your analogy) - this is a fairly standard test for anyone who has been on advanced driver training. The bigger issue is being able to react quickly enough by recognising proactively the potential issues ahead. The stopping distances in the Highway Code haven't been updated for many years and are antiquated at best. P.S. This debate may be better off moved to another forum as it clearly has nothing to do with post match analysis!
  7. I have a feeling that you are decidedly a "Guinness glass half empty" kind of chap.
  8. I think that was my fave away game although seeing us beat Liverpool 3-2 away was special. An honorary mention to a 1-0 win at Newcastle and 4-1 win at Wolves also.
  9. Think that should read "minority of football fans with lack of pateince and lack of understanding of what the manager inherited in getting restless after no wins in 8 games shocker"
  10. Fans of East Stirlingshire think Alex Ferguson was terrible in his tenure there. Or to put it another way, comparing a manager's success or lack of at another club to our own is irrelevant as every club and situation is unique. The only fact is that AP should be judged solely on his long term performance at SFC.
  11. I am not sure it is. Was reported at the time.
  12. No, but things are not as simple as you are making out. There are more fundamental issues as to why we have started the season poorly than AP playing 4-5-1. It will take time and patience to sort this mess out - a mess that is largely (but not exclusively) down to the decisions taken by Lowe during his tenures.
  13. Pretty much everything.
  14. For once I agree with you. When you strip out from your posts the usual snide remarks about the people in your "circle of hate" you sometimes make some good points. Keep it up.
  15. An unbelieveable situation really - you can see why we are such a shambles and how much work there is to do at all levels in the club.
  16. I am sure who ever is wheeled out will be "up for it" on Saturday and "determined to put things right for the fans".
  17. Other than that though it was ok?
  18. When is the solent forum? I agree it would be interesting to raise these points and the ones in your original post.
  19. Agreed. He has the demeanour of a man who has only just realised what a huge job he has on - he needs our support, it will take time.
  20. What is worrying is Perry, Thomas and Lancashire are all weak links in defence. Spiderman is too lighweight in midfield as is Lallana. Holmes is left footed so it appears we have option on the right (Thomson only seems to be able to play well against non-league teams). Gobern, White and Patterson are not ready. James is ok at RB but not in midfield, Wotton is not good anywhere. Saga and Rasiak don't want to be here - so what are we left with.....not much. If this was the start of pre-season then Davis, Murty, Harding, Gillett, Hammond, Lambert, Mills are probably the only ones who I would keep (as well as loaning out a few youngsters). unfortunately we are having to have our pre-season in August and into September.
  21. I don't think any of us really fully appreciated what a mess AP inherited and it is going to take weeks and months to sort out. A rudderless squad devoid of confidence (and in some cases ability) coupled with other issues such as no scouting network will take a massive effort and time to sort out. It was an often used phrase during the darkest days but this club really was rotten from top to bottom and that includes the playing staff. Major surgery rquired both on and off the field. Out of the squad picked tonight I think at least 9 need to be shipped out and the same number brought in - barring an immediate open cheque book policy that isn't going to happen before the end of the transfer window so it looks like a transitional season, number one aim survival, number two aim, phase in better players and ship out the dross - build a platform for next season.
  22. I am not sure MLT would really care what the forum oddball thinks anyway.
  23. It depends on how you measure "far bigger" and "failed to achieve" - I would say that is subjective - MLT has said that he achieved everything he wanted to so who are you exactly to make that call? I would imagine there will be many non-Saints fans who will buy the book - I have read plenty of autobiographies of other players. That having been said, it's difficult to find good reading in Parochial Little World, is it easier in Multi Personality Town? I note you still haven't answered my question about asking him direct, you know where he will be, you have the opportunity to put your money where your mouth is so maybe you could have the "courage" or "conviction" to do so?
  24. And what you don't seem to grasp is that for 99% of Saints fans we couldn't give a toss if he is a "legend in sport" or not. He is a Saints legend and that is good enough for us - it is you that seems to have the "issue". I will look forward to your report from Waterstones Basingstoke though - assuming that seeing as you are such a Billy big balls you will be asking him face to face about the extra chapter as you suggested earlier?
  25. The first thing to do is to find out if what the person telling you is true - probably the only way you can do that is to go and have a look yourself. If it is then you could probably give a deadline to the neighbour via a solicitor to remove and put right any changes made. There is a law to do with claiming land that is registered with the land agency (I assume it is?) - but the occupiers would have to serve you notice I think after 10 years of using and maintaining it, then wait a further 2 years during which time you can legally eject them. If the land is not registered and they have been occupying it for 12 years then you may have problems. Look up "adverse possession" on the net as this should help.
