http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/frattonlatest/Cotterill-We-should-have-been.6437651.jp? I am beginning to wonder how long Cotterill will last before he walks.....lol at the "This may be a culture shock to people because this competition is meant to be fair – but we have been really, really put through the wringer to try to get some players" quote - grossly overspending on players you couldn't afford to stay in the PL and to win the FA Cup wasn't fair either.

The last two seasons were exceptional circumstances with the Lowe experiment followed by having no players last season. I am talking about a traditional pre-season having no bearing - someone earlier pointed out that last year Leyton orient beat Newcastle 6-1.
-
This debate comes up every pre-season and every season it is the same...pre-season results have absolutely no bearing on league results for any team. The end of the world is not nigh based a few meaningless friendlies.

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Portsmouth-Football-Club-Statement-1135.aspx Rough translation - "The game is up and we are now seeking to put as much blame on the HMRC as possible - how dare they contest what they are actually due. Basically we are f@@@ed so we need to get to court as soon as possible or we won't be able to go out and spend £8k a week on players".

An excellent choice Mr.ESB

"If the appeal finds in favour of us maybe the government with their new focus on austerity should pay a little more attention to the heads of the HMRC and their lawyers. I can't help but feel this is taxpayer money being wasted, and I'm not just saying that as a portsmouth fan, I'm saying that as a taxpayer". Lol at one comments on The News - they really don't get it do they - oh the irony! I also find it difficult to believe there is a taxpayer in Portsmouth - it is all benefit claimants and exchange & barter.

That would be a really good signing- he was excellent against Man Utd in the Carling Cup Semi's. -
Don't forget you can claim tax relief for working at home. I get about £300 a year, not much but better than HMRC having it.

I agree - and finally we are in a sound financial position and have a chairman who realises that the way forward is not to sell your wonder kids as soon as someone waves a few million £ under your nose - long term thinking and strategy at last! -
Arguably he was the only one that made us some money having negotiated a settlement to get rid of the rapidly plot losing Burley - at the time most of us would have driven to Scotland.
-
Where is this from? If accurate it also suggests Mills and Holmes and not considered first team and are on their way?
-
Can you play right back?

Normally by 3.10 pm on a Saturday he is moaning about how crap we are, so the lack of patience is no surprise.

I see Palace have said that Danny Butterfield has decided to join another club - he would be a good signing. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us take Lee Trundle on a free as back up for Rickie. -
Johnny Palacios? Right Back/Centre Back

Is our online booking system the worst on the Internet?

Going back a few months I seem to remember filling out a survey on suggested improvements - hopefully an upgrade is imminent. -
They've just nicked a 9 year old off us from the Bournemouth area. His parents had to move nearer to Chelsea in order for it to be ok under FA rules....I wonder how they funded that move...hmmm.

From a skate site: From a source close to the club! "CVA under threat. HMRC claim that it can only be approved if the club owes HMRC £21m but they claim to have paperwork proving that we owe £35 m. If AA declares the CVA approved HMRC will challenge it in court and officially lodge an appeal to have the club liquidated." http://www.fansonline.net/portsmouth/mb/view.php?id=276977

But presumably if they are in administration at the start of the season then the transfer embargo remains in place?
-
That is quite surprising as AP, when interviewed on Solent towards the end of the last season, said that the clubs were talking and he hoped something could be done - maybe someone better has become available?
-
Agreed. He is good at clapping but seriously did we ever find out his main footballing attribute?

So, in summary, depending on which route this goes they are either f@@@ed in the short term or f@@@ed in the long term or both. Excellent.
