I'm sorry but I disagree, he bottles 50/50 balls and headers - lacks conviction still. I like him but he is the sort of ball player that needs a Jimmy Case type figure alongside. He has improved though as you say in that department. Also he needs to cut out the petulance, stupid yellow card today for kicking the ball away.
-
We needed Wotton today more for his battling ability than errr..... "passing (in)ability"
-
I agree, we haven't got and don't want just hoofers but today was a place where we needed to adapt and couldn't. The set piece goal was poor and at the worst possible time. Totally agree about Hammond, we really miss him.
-
The pitch really was crap. Having said that a couple of odd substitutions and Barnard should have come on sooner. It was a Wotton sort of pitch rather than a Schneiderlin. We need to be able to win ugly at these sort of places where footballing principles need to go out the window.
-
If today taught us anything is it that you need to pick a team for the conditions/pitch so I don't think it is simple as to say "pick this team". On a decent pitch with a true surface then play wingers. On a pitch like Exeter's today then play narrow with battling players and in effect play "hoof it" football.
-
Back from the game. The pitch was very poor and therefore decent football was impossible - it was the sort of game where you need a defensive central midfielder who can take the game by the scruff of the neck - we don't have one who can do that. In fact we have a central midfield with an inability to tackle - 50/50 balls are never won or worse, not even competed. Major positive was Puncheon who on a better surface will be quality. Corners were poor and neither keeper really had that much to do. Fair result in the end.

Indeed Pancake.....

Many have, but there is a difference between being bonused on something and actually manipulating situations via third parties, unbeknown to your employer, to ensure that a larger than normal bonus is paid. Unless the CEO is in on it of course.

It's profit and without going into too much detail, its something to do with this that is the real reason that he mysteriously left West Ham.

A poster on a skate site is saying that if they go into admin then they automatically forfeit the 2 years parachute payments assuming they also go down (which they would with -9 points) - this is worth about £40 million apparently. The poster was not sure what happened to the prize money they would receive for finishing 20th. (£30 million also?) Assuming this is true, if they are not wound up but go into administration and survive there is only one way they are going, the only question that remains is not "if" but "when" we pass them on our way up. In their current state they are not an attractive proposition for an investor, in administration they would not be an attractive proposition for an investor. Either way they are f***ed.
-
From what we were to understand about Saints situation last year, a number of administration companies turned down the option of taking us on as they thought we were a lost cause. On the basis that the skates situation is much much worse who would take them on and what happens if nobody wants to touch it?

or Saints....to get another player to drop their wage demands or another club to drop their transfer demands.....football clubs and agents work in mysterious ways!

What utter c**p. The only bad game he had for us and not helped by clowns in front of him.

No, no, you have it all wrong Duncan, Harry has saved Pompey, triffic.
-
If they can then surely Spurs would be better off telling Kaboul and Begovic to wait until tomorrow, walk out for nothing and they get an extra £1 million each signing on fee? Is it as simple as that though if they are not paid? Not sure anyone has got to the bottom of it yet.

To stop you going out of business or to put some cash in their own pockets before you go out of business? Azougy is a liquidator is he not?

Saints Reserves Losing 7-0 Tonight To Plymouth Then!

Shouldn't that read "and BWP" ? -
Agree - 400k tops including add ons.

The problem as I see it is that none of them can dominate a game - none of them seem to be able to drive the team forward and dictate the play. Imo Hammond is the nearest player we have to be able to do that but we just seem lacking in that department somehow. The word I am looking for is power I think, we need more midfield power to overrun opponents midfield and go through them like they weren't there.
-
Who do you feel is better out of interest? I can't see that the likes Wotton, Gillet or James are better than Hammond. Spiderman? A matter of debate, but I don't think a combination of any of these are particularly effective. If Puncheon is a more of a winger then I still think we lack someone in the middle of the park to play with either Hammond or Spiderman on a regular basis.

Bring your £10 notes to wave at the skates and get a Thailand flag to wave at Avram.

No wonder poor Avram needs to get away for a nice sauna and massage now and again to relieve the stress.........
