I've been more impressed by Butterfied than Richardson so far. Holmes did a couple of blatant foul throws that the ref didn't care about!

Look, I quite like that Banksy piece so I would have preferred it if it hadn't been amended, but that is my purely subjective relative viewpoint on the two "works". The fact is - and this is correct and if you don't agree you're completely missing the point - Banksy, or any fans thereof, have no moral recourse whatsoever against whoever defaced this. Banksy makes his statements on people's property without warning or endorsement. If someone chooses to make a statement on his works then that's just tough luck. End of story. As for the comments about Southampton, this isn't the first time a Banksy has been defaced and it won't be the last. He is from Bristol and his work on Park Street in Bristol has been splatted by blue paint.

Bit slow in coming but here's my tuppence worth... Really enjoyable game that Saints dominated for the first half from about 8 minutes onwards. We set oursleves up to combat Brighton's preferred tactics and it worked a treat but we managed this without compromising our own attacking possibilities. We should have had a penalty and so were bloody unlucky not to be ahead at half-time. Unfortunately the contact was on the blindside of the linesman which presumably is the only reason we didn't get it as he clearly wasn't shy in flagging (apart from for offsides). I think Brighton managed two efforts from outside the box in the first half and that was really it apart from a couple of corners. Only some heroic defending stopped Lallana from bagging one. The accusations of time wasting against their goalie are ********. He wasn't deliberately time wasting he just didn't have a clue what to do for the first 60 minutes as we took their preferred options away from them. At the start of the second half we continued in much the same vein and should have scored when Richardson set up Lambert. He really should have buried his header - it was the kind of chance you would go mad at a lesser playing for missing the target from. Very frustrating. The tone of the game changed a bit when Brighton stuck on a bigger striker and started to play direct. A few of our players started to look a little ragged and the game opened up. I've seen Poyet claiming that they eventually opened us up with their passing. That's nonsense; they created a few chances towards the end because they managed to finally pick up some second balls from their forwards. The pen looked like the wrong decision, FWIW, but thanks to Super Kelv it didn't matter (although it did make the Lallana incident in the first half more annoying). We had a great chance towards the end when Lallana tried to play Guly in having broken from midfield; IMO, and it's easy to say after the event, but in the goalscoring form Lallana is in he should have shot towards the far post himself. So, all in all, I would say we were unlucky not to win; we should've had a penalty and we created the clearest chance of the match when Lambert headed over. I think we really need to press on form here though, and a minimum of 10 points from the next four games has to be the target if we're going to claw ourselves into the top 2. I'm not an advocate of dropping Lambert at the moment because he is still a dangerous player and did contribute last night but he really has lost his touch in front of goal - I think the main target for Jan has to be a striker to make him compete for his place. Realistically we're not going to start with Barnard and Connolly (who will probably pay a visit to the treatment room sometime soon, whilst arguably being our best forward), and Guly is not doing enough to justify starting ahead of Lambert.

I didn't make it on Sat. Interested to hear how Holmes approached the right wing role - did he cut in a lot or did he go outside and use the right boot to cross it?
-
Seriously? That would cripple them unless they got to the Prem, surely, even without interest?
-
Why don't you go and live in the forest somewhere then? Build a little shack, catch your dinner... nothing's stopping you. Maybe you actually quite like "civilisation"?
-
Back them all on an accumulator and I guarantee you at least one of them will mess up!

Agreed, he handled Soderling's power game expertly earlier. I still have my doubts that he will ever win a grandslam but then he's unlucky to be playing at the same time as Nadal and Federer.

Sorry, can you reconcile the two bold bits for me please?

He is correct with his central tenet which is that protests like the recent one in London are impotent and really rather pathetic and become the plaything of disgusting unwashed knobbers. He is right that the form of protest he advocates could have far greater impact. But it's a **** idea.

Don't know.

Redknapp, we all hate but we all know we missed out, don't we?

It is a good achievement, yes. The bottom of the league position was clearly false. He's taken them from being one of the best teams outside the top 4 to finishing 4th. -

Indeed. Which was a decent achievement (although I think the Premier League is presently weaker than it has ever been). Leeds managed that too though and it did them no favours in the long-run. I'm sure Spurs are better run than that but if they fail to keep progressing it won't be long before Redknapp starts moaning that he can't sign the right players. I see he's started talking up their title prospects suddenly; presumably because he'd been told he couldn't "wheel and deal" in January. -

The point is not that you might recoup some money further down the line, it's that he constantly demands a rapid turnover of players which can have serious cash implications in the here-and-now. Why does he do this, or rather why has he done this? Hmmm.... The guy is obviously capable of doing a good job if you are prepared to adapt to his methods. How far those methods are capable of taking you is still a moot point. And he might be a criminal. -

To be honest, if you are seriously moaning about this, you may be a ****.

Nah, thia is just PR ******** and where iz da signing s and why aint Lawrie Mac and LT bigging him up and why can;t my kid have a free Xmas present?! FFS!! -
Let's not kid ourselves. If Saints had been in a similar situation we would, mostly, have enjoyed the ride. However, I would like to think that we would also act with some humility and recognise that the victories might have been hollow ones. Take CH, for example. He comes on and writes posts alledging all sorts of illegality on the part of people involved in Portsmouth but yet maintains his smug facade around the cup win, even though it is obvious that it was built upon taking out liabilities that could never realistically be serviced for whatever motive the then owner had in mind.

Exactly, with the addition that they then bent the rules to suit Portsmouth when it became widespread public knowledge that they were completely insolvent. The FA also need to ask themselves why they did not throw them out of the FA Cup.
