And so the climax of the season approaches, and Nige is making sure our players have the appropriate levels of arousal. Hopefully we can celebrate promotion and an exciting future, after being in the top 2 all season. Sadly, for the phew, it will be "If only we hadn't been unfairly docked 10 points!" That penalty has officially relegated them: they would've stayed up with those extra 10 points, and instead four other teams (Peterborough, Bristol C., Forest and Barnsley) would be fighting to avoid going down with Coventry and Donny. COYR! FOP!

Plan A: Win Plan B: Draw, and pray West Ham don't win by enough to leapfrog us. Plan C: Lose, and pray West ham don't win.

Which law states it's illegal to offer a bonus for winning? Throwing a game, yes, but winning?
-
What odds are they offering on Saints failing to go up?
-
Maybe, maybe not. They are desperate for promotion. It is promotion or bust, and they have already paid money to ensure Cheats FC don't go bust until the season ends. Why not offer a big bonus to Coventry? The worst that would happen is that they wouldn't have to pay. But at least it would give Coventry something to play for, and potentially would reap dividends (£90 million to be precise) if it works. Even if the odds are 100-1 of it making a difference, why not try? I can't see it being illegal: they are offering money for a team to do their best. Not the same as (for example) offering Brighton money to lose by 6, which indeed would be "Go to Jail, do not go past Go". (Hypothetically, of course )

Just had a worrying thought. For WHam it's promotion or bust this year. They've already given Cheats FC enough money to continue to the end of the season (thereby not losing the 6 points they got against them). So I wouldn't be surprised if they've offered Coventry a huge bonus (in the millions) for getting the positive result against us tomorrow that helps them (WHam) leapfrog us. Dodgy but legal, and probably wouldn't work, but food for thought.

It could be worse! 5-5 means WHam would have to win by 4. P.S. SISU out!!!!

I think this sums it up .. It's what I predicted ages ago. Plan A: gamble on promotion to the PL. If that fails, Plan B: cut to the bone, play the kids, keep the rotten corpse on life support just long enough until the last parachute payment has been extracted. And I doubt Chinny is very concerned about any future points penalties (unless he thinks he can find another idiot to keep the club running with filthy money).

Good point. They'll need a rest before the playoffs.
-
You mean as much as Cheats FC have been paying Tal Ben Haim?
-
I wonder how they feel about us losing to BC twice?
-
And then we get docked 3 points for fielding an ineligible player.
-
Not quite. If West Ham finish in the top 2 Saints could still get promoted through the playoffs.
-
Then WHam would have to win 4-0, or win by at least 3 scoring 5 or better. I would be tempted to take a 2-2 now. (Although I reserve the right to change my mind later ).
-
The other way around and I'll cry.

Ah, but that doesn't take into account that if they hadn't had the 10 point deduction they would have put up more of a fight on the last day (and wouldn't have given up against Derby once it was clear Bristol were going to win). And if that isn't convincing enough, the combination of the 10 point penalty and us giving Bristol 6 points has ensured their relegation. All of this will be moot soon though, when they get liquidated.

[h=3]PompeyBeej[/h]Jesus he needs to get real. 10pts deducted aside, unless you bang in a few or keep clean sheets you're only as good as the side you play in...he has played a few good matches granted but I hope he gets relegated again elsewhere...pref with our neighbours...from the Championship! Come on Hammers, come on Coventry, hopefully Blackpool, Brighton or someone good in the playoffs can see their dreams shattered! Preferably at the hands of one of our loanessold boys - Hoseclip maybe doing his bit as did Matty Taylor last night..

Including me. Nige took over a team in free fall (under Gormless and Dudd), and averaged 1.23 points per game (comfortable mid-table form). We finished 2 places above Leicester, who finished with a ridiculous record high number of points for a relegated team. And who walked L1 the following year (under Nige!) Anyway, back to Cheats FC bashing.....

June 2, I think. Here's hoping for ....
-
Wouldn't it be even simpler (with better odds) to just bet on Saints not going up?
-
Amazing, not one "has he signed yet?"
-
They still only need to win by 3, as long as they score 3 more than us.
-
-
Not quite. We have scored 2 more. If they win 3-0 and we draw 1-1 both teams would have identical goals scored and goal differences. We'd go up by head to head. If we draw they have to win by 3 and also score 3 more than us.
