Crouch instead of Lowe ? Definately. I did feel at the end of last season that Crouch & Pearson were at last pointing the club in the right direction untill Lowe came back and Royally Fooked everything up,( AGAIN ). We only ever have had Lowe's version of the position of the club with respect to dealings with the banks etc, Crouch has pretty much kept his council except to say he had a working agreement with the bank in place prior to Lowe and Quisling coming back to savage the club for a second time. All season I have wondered where we would be had Crouch & Pearson still been at the helm and I am fairly confident that we would be in a much better place in terms of results , league position , crowd attendance etc. In this day and age lots of football clubs are in very serious financial situations , lots of clubs bigger than the Saints , It is just a very convenient big stick for Lowe to beat everyone with, everything that Lowe has done this year has been backed by" It has to be done for financial reasons" , sorry that is Bullshat , Everything Lowe does is to satisfy his own plans and ideas be they credible or not.

I am sure Michael Wilde's answer would be something like,"There is nothing I can do , Rupert stitched me up like a kipper, he has total control of everything and you are right in your description, He is a egomaniac. I can only wait for the crash like everyone else"

Really Poor performance tonight but although we got beat 3-0 I thought the defensive players were the better part of the team , The midfield and forwards were the real problem. None of Robertson, Mcgoldrick , Lallana, BWP , deserved more than a 2/10 tonight , Surman tried hard as did Cork but they were trying to do to much to compensate for the lack of skill & effort in there team mates. IMO , Robertson should be sent back to Sheff U ASAP,He contributes nothing. Mcgoldrick should be consigned to the reserves until he realizes that he is very ,very ordinary , just a chocolate soldier who loves himself to death. As for lallana if someone is willing to give us a million for him I would snap there hand off and BWP is just the same lightwieght underperformer he has always been.

Without a shadow of doubt Alf Ramsey was the greatest full back to pull on a saints shirt but as we are talking about a player who played in the late 40's early 50's I doubt that many on this site have even heard about him. He was a full England international and I did have the pleasure of seeing Alf play at the Dell,( I know I am ancient),on a few occassions. With due respect to the other nominees IMO Alf is in a class of his own in this group.Ivan Golac was very good and would rate second in the poll for me.

I have a Photo taken at the Dell with Me , My son & Lawrie holding the FA cup in May 1976 . It is very special to my family as it represents the Greatest Footballing Achievment in Saints history and we are very proud of that achievment and grateful for what Lawrie Mac did for Saints. On the other hand the action taken at SMS of removing the reminder of Saints greatest Achievment just goes to prove what Bitter and selfish people are presently involved in the corridors of power at SMS. Step up Rupert Lowe , Mike Wilde and the rest of the egotistical board of SFC as you have just proved what most of us have known for a long time , You dont give a toss about Southampton Football club or its history.

A great Idea to train at SMS a couple of days a week especially maybe on a day or night before a game. Most teams in european competitions ask to train on the opponents pitch the night before the game , gives them a feel for the pitch and perhaps more importantly a awareness of distances and visual lines. In the old days before training grounds became the norm teams always trained on there home pitch , I remember as a nipper I was outside the Dell everyday looking for players autographs when they finished training. Somebody should point out to Jan that a bit of training at SMS my help the lads.

I know this is going to sound like a old record and get me slagged off, but 90% of what I am reading on this thread seems to me to be looking for other excuses or reasons for our down fall than facing the real facts. In my opinion it started with mismanagement of the Club by Lowe after WGS departed , And after showing some shoots of recovery under Crouch & Pearson at the end of last season Lowe has stormed back in and not only killed off those recovery shoots but completely exterminated any possibility of a Recovery. I regularly read on here about how terrible it would be to go into Administration , We are in Administration ! Rupert Lowe is our Administrator. Lowe came back for one reason only and that was to ensure his nest stays as tightly feathered as it always has. He gives not one jot about what happens to the club and even less about its supporters, Whichever division saints play in is of no real concern to him as long as he can keep his personal wealth firmly in the Black. As for Michael Wilde the only reason he jumped into bed with Lowe was again MONEY , Wilde has financial problems and knew that unless he sided with Lowe he would Probably be a goner by know, I dont believe Wilde likes Lowe any more than he ever did. It was a union of convenience, allowed Lowe to get his foot back in the door and kept Wilde Solvent. We seem to be getting compared to Leeds quite a bit on this thread , the difference is Leeds got rid of there deadwood and excepted the Administration and all it entailed and are now firmly on a recovery course , Hence their 30,000 gates. We got rid of our deadwood and then let it return with a vengeance, consequently we are now much , much worse off than we were at the end of last season. I despize Rupert Lowe for what he has done and is still doing to Southamptom Football Club.
