  1. There was a section of home fans - to our left - who gave it a good go. They had a very annoying drum. I agree with Saint Garrett, we were quiet for a lot of the first half when things weren't going our way. Disappoinitng considering the numbers we took.....
  2. Just back from the game. I thought Wigan were worth their first half lead. We played extremely well in the second half, but didn't kill the game off. I was disappointed at our first half display but very excitied by our play in the second half. Shaw, Rickie, Morgan, J-Rod and Jack all looked good today. Davis added something to our mid-field when he came on, as did Adam. Clyne and Punch were overloaded on several occassions on our left wing - it took us most of the first half to figure this out. Impressed with Saints numbers but it turned us into St.Mary's with inly some singing................... Wigan fans were very friendly............... but there was some agitation on the way home, looked like Saints fans were to blame but I could be wrong.
  3. Wigan will be up for this game - so i think a point is the mst probable result.
  4. There was some discussions a while ago about wall murals honouring Saints legends - even if not at the ground but outside on nearby buildings.
  5. I don't agree - getting a 2-2 draw at Chelsea, fighting back from 2-0 down and a 0-0 draw against a good Everton team is not the performance of a frightened team or manager. It's your opinion and you are entitled to it, but don't say "most supporters" agree when there's no evidence to back this up.
  6. Get in touch with your feminine side - with a name like Junior Mullet you can't be far away....
  7. Why the conversion now ? Can't see how getting a new manager impacts some of the things you now believe will happen.
  8. Now tell the rest of the boys that if they want a sh*t in future they need to go before the game !
  9. Just changed my opinion (slightly) on Harry after seeing that video - he called it right on Rio and Frank - perhaps he does know a thing or two about football....
  10. It's good to see that terrace humour is still alive and well!
  11. Nicely put. I would add that Cortese's profession as a banker does not make him a moral person. In fact over the past few years we have seen that parts of the banking world (investment banking) is very happy to act unethically, illegally and immorally to get to their target. Also, for me, this is not a case of "the ends justify the means", the end result is not guaranteed. Even if it was guaranteed there is something called Values, which in a community club like SFC should include Respect. The club's management did not act with any respect to Nigel Adkins. A part of the club died the day the chairman decided to act the way he did.
  12. Good read - but it still doesn't mean I shouldn't be disgusted at Nigel's treatment. Just because it's football and just because other clubs have done this it does not make it morally acceptable for SFC to do it.
  13. When does Sir Alex retire?
  14. Even if this turns out to be the best appointment ever I still am disgusted by the way the club has treated Nigel. No amount of success will ever erase the shame I feel at the way Nigel was dismissed. Success should not be bought at the expense of core values; respect, loyalty being 2 I think of in this situation - if it is then I may as well support Portsmouth who won the FA cup by compromising their core values .................
  15. Nice idea, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
  16. How about in the 18th minute - as he was sacked on the 18th?
  17. I will still support the Saints, but I find it very hard to forgive the callous nature in which Nigel was sacked. This action does not reflect the values I hold, I do not chase success by hurting people or by putting the pursuit of success up as the only reason for carrying out an unfair act. Maybe I don't have the whole picture but it does not seem that Nigel has been treated with very much repsect. Cortese's lack of comment, explanation or otherwise as to his motivation, his rationale on this move can only add fuel to the fire, the fire that says this was an unjust action! I love the Saints. I don't love Cortese.
  18. 1/. Lawrie Mac, 2/. Nigel 3/. Gordon S.
  19. Shocked. I thought he had earned the right to take us to the end of the season and then review his situation.
  20. Gutted. In shock. This is not the same as Pardew going. Can't say much more. Part of the love i have to SFC has died today. This is not the way I want the club to be run. Will i go to future games, probably yes, but my drive and desire was linked to the team and manager. The only analogy i can think of is the day I heard that Lawrie was leaving - but he wasn't sacked and that is what makes this worse. Nigel Adkins = Southampton Legend.
  21. The problem I have, but I can't speak for anyone else, is that he doesn't show us any respect in that statement. His implication is that we are the worse team in the division, whereas our current form clearly shows that we are not. He's a pundit, he should do a better job than that.
  22. I sing, He took us to the Premier League, but happy with He take us up the Premier League.
  23. Whilst we're on the subject, the comments from Robbie Savage after Villa - if you lose to a team like Southampton then you really are in trouble (not his exact words but my memory of what he said!)
  24. Lovely goals - and great to see Rickie score with his head again!
  25. Agree with this
