Maybe we were - However, I think most trains were delayed or stopped at Bedford that day. I remember getting off at Bedford and being told that there were buses to Leicester outside - whereas outside there were no buses and a lot of very confused travellers. Thought we'd miss the game until i saw a Forest fan trying to organise 6 people for a taxi and rushed in. We arrived outside the ground at about 3 mins before kick-off.

I remember a story from my dad that when Pompey last won the Division title (49-50)they brought the trophy to the Dell and did a lap of honour. As i wasn't born then I have no corroboration if this is true or not, but I can confirm that we used to look for the Pompey results when at the Dell and cheer if they had won.

Forest away in the cup in 1977. we drew 3-3 at Forest, it was a very mental atmosphere. I had hitched hiked down from Leeds (does anyone hiotch-hike these days) with another Saints fans and we stayed with his mates over the w/e. Lots of drinking, but as I was young it was also lots of fun. Forest away last season - we won 3-0. Took the train up but it was stopped at Bedford and shared a taxi up to the city ground with a group of Forest fans. My nipper got the lucky seat in with the Forest fans (I sat up front with the driver) who quizzed him for 60 mins on Saints, he was exhausted by the time we got out of the taxi!

According to one of the original reports on the issue Mr.Benali claimed that uncleaned windows, a dirty swimming pool, garden not maintained and damage to a hob needed £33,000+ to make right. Even if Mr.Cortese did inflict this damage the claim is outrageous and I'm not surprised the club contested it. Settling out of court implies, at least to me, that a more reasonable sum was agreed upon between both parties than was in the original claim, and that the club did defend itself against an unreasonable claim.

Didn't expect anything from the Spurs game and I did expect other teams to pick up points, so I'm not nervous yet. However, if we lose next week-end then my level of concern will rise.

OK Barry what can we do to make a better atmosphere at St.Marys? Here's my ideas: I support a full end of the ground for singers and we move the away fans into a corner. Let's get the Marcus flag off the club and use it at games. Let's use the SWF to generate new songs - I'm crap at this but I've seen some great innovation on here on occasions.

Is this linked to the fact that we sold out our allocation to season tickets holders - I love to join in the singing, wanted to go but couldn't get a ticket? Perhaps too many fans ticking off the ground rather than wanting to vocally support the Saints?

Just looked at the stats on the BBC and there were no cards - was the ref lenient or did both teams manage to play their games without the need for more aggressive tackling?

I would keep any trophy and forgo a place in the Champion's league where we may well not win a game. Let's keep the happy memories!! and yes I was there in 1976!
