Not a good comparison imo. BC went on to win two European cups, 1 league title and 4 league cups with Forest, whereas Derby pulled in another league title under Dave Mackay (with Cloughie's team) after he left.

Mauricio Pochettino staying as Southampton manager - Official
red&white56 replied to Ashley Grute's topic in The Saints
But as he was listening to his translator express in English what he had just said in Spanish and he corrected him on a couple of occasions when his translation was wrong, I don't think there's an issue with what we heard from the translator. -

Just listened to his press conference and he was very clear, very affirmative that his job is to get us through to the end of the season in best possible way. -
While I agree with may of your points I don't feel that "the game is over". Wigan won the FA cup last year - less fans than us and in a season they were relegated. We still can achieve things - we may not get above 9th position but a great cup run is still possible and should be an aim.

£30 million for for Luke Shaw should we take it?
red&white56 replied to modern matron's topic in The Saints
If the Cortese plan is European football then I presume he will want us to not just make up the numbers but to participate and win games, and perhaps have an outside chance to win. We won't get there if we go weak at the knees every time someone flashes their wallet at us and we sell our better players. Our reaction should be, No Deal! -
There's an article on the BBC website where Poch denies the rumours and says he's staying.

Just checked Viagogo and they are still offering P4 tickets - but you have to sign up as a Fulham fan.
-
I ended up buying the Viagogo site (the Fulham direct purchase wouldn't respond). On Viagogo they were showing options to buy combinations of 2, 3 and 4 tickets in P4. Whereas the Fulham FC ticket purchase site only showed me P2 and P1. In P2 only single seat tickets were available, so I tried to purchase in P1 (uncovered and restricted view seats were the only possibility to get 2 seats together). This was when the site threw me out and I found the Viagogo option. However on Viagogo I had to pay a handling/VAT fee of £14.50 on top of the ticket price (£35 each). hope this helps..

Just bought 2 tickets in P4 - seems that there are still tickets available in this block.

anybody know the Saints line up?? -
Do you really think we are "sleep walking"? We still look a better team than most of those below us so I don't think this will happen, whether we sleep walk or not.

Although I'm disappointed that our form has dropped off over the last 6 games I wanted to get some perspective by looking at last season and comparing it to this. I am happy to share this with you: last season: won 4, lost 10, drawn 3, goals for 22, goals against 33, points 15, position 17th. this season: won 6, lost 5, drawn 6, goals for 22, goals against 18, points 24, position 9th. My conclusion: we have made progress, no need to panic just yet - in January we can improve the squad.

awful or aweful ???

I was looking forward to seeing how well we'd fare tomorrow but with all of our injuries I feel we need to focus on going for a narrow win. Keep them out, score on the break! 1-0 Saints J-Rod to get the goal and to become a Saints Hero!

Not sure Gazza can take any blame for the first goal, I think you are being very harsh on him. Also nor for the third goal, it was a wordly goal, but really the fault was letting the villa boy get so close to goal that when he did hit it Gazza had little time to react..... The second goal I think he could have done better - like attack the ball - but what was left of our defense was dumb struck at how Villa were back in our penalty area so quickly that nobody really challenged the header. So I agree he get's some blame - 10% seems right.

Bought my 2 on the end of a row, filling the row. I like atmosphere at games (the nipper and I sat alone aren't going to create a very good one) so I will always try to find seats in the crowd, not by myself......... There must be others like me???
-
Just bought 2 tickets in Block 43 - it looks 2/3 full. (didn't look at other parts fo the ground as I did that last week and most were full excpet for the odd seat here and there - the Itchen / Chapel corner had seats open at that time)

You sign Whittingham, we sign Pochettino....

Try singing and shouting abuse - its good fun! -
Others have already said it but that was a great performance; total dominance in 1H. We slowed down in the 2H and whatever Fulham gave in the 2H we snuffed out. The last time I saw Saints play with this kind of dominance was in the 83-84 when we finished second in the old D1. We made a few team look average at the Dell. Great all round team performance but today Adam, J-Rod and Ricky stand out. Stood in the Kingsland corner and the atmosphere was great; just like an away game - not sure how it sounded inother parts of the ground but it felt like we were powering out some real noise.
