Shocking first half - Spurs deserved their lead and were making us look like a bit sily. Much better second half, but we gave ourselves too much to do. There's always talk about the "rub of the green", and teams that get relegated don't have it. Their second goal illustrated their rub of the green and our lack of it. Jose gets back, dramtically clears off the line only for the ball to go to the only Spurs player in the vicinity, and not to one of many Saints players.

We still look like a championship side, I wish I had confidence that we might come out and plat better in the second half but I'm not sure where it's going to come from............

We have to be strong at home and pick up points there. If we draw against Spurs then that, IMO, will be a good results. Unfortunately we have WBA away after that........ so we have to then target Swansea at home - a win. 4 points out of the next the next 3 games might help !

Disappointed - hoped for a point. To let in 4, OMG there is something wrong, I'm beginning to get nervous.........

Depends on who is fit.............

Thanks - I hadn't seen the other thread ! -
Just been to try and get tickets for West Ham and it's sold out. If I understand correctly they only gave us 1800ish tickets, surely more will be made available Does anybody know more ?

In the second half JWP put in some excellent tackles on Pienaar and stopped them totally bossing mid-field, but when we were under the cosh in the 1H I think he was lost, like Lallana, chasing the game. All in all I was impressed with him.

In the first half at times J-Rod, Rickie and Ramirez were pushed up as a front 3 and it looked we were playing with 3 strikers. This certainly caused Everton problems but as we never seemed the win the second ball we were always caught out in midfield when we tried to play it up to them and then quickly lost it, with those 3 still upfield. Going forward we looked good but as soon as we lost the ball boy were we in trouble. From under the stand I coudn't really see Richardson's side but could see down our left flank and for large parts of the first half Clyne was facing 2 on 1. Not sure where the midfield were but by the time they had realised the danger Everton were already exploiting the space. I must admit I thought isn't that exactly what Fox has been facing when he's played. For me that was the crux of the issue; in the first half we attacked as a team but didn't defend as a team, they over-powered us in mid-field and at the back. We looked better in the 2H but then again Everton had a 3-1 lead and had just about wrapped the game up. Everton fans were silent except for their goal celebrations. Those fans i spoke to said it was quiet today but didn't offer up any explanation. However they were very friendly and helpful.

Can't wait to see us win !

Next week will be interesting - Everton doing very well but clearly not considered a "big club". If we can come away with a draw then I'll feel very positive.

I read a report of a County game last week-end and it mentioned Bart making brilliant saves......... Maybe all he needed was a fresh start??
-
Still glad to be in the PL, but a bit concerned about shipping 6 goals - even away to Arsenal - it's still painful and a worry.
-
I love attacking football, but we lost 6-1 today so perhaps there is a need to consider if the defence can keep us in a game long enough for our attack to win it.
-
Will be worried after the Everton game if we still have no points.

To'getha as in Toegetha or is that Toogetha, I not familiar with this word ??????

Ok hindsight is always 20 : 20. However bringing on Chaplow, with instructions to help break up the work of Paul scholes (who had loads of time on the ball yesterday), might have helped us get a result yesterday. He may not have the skill level to be in the starting eleven, but he has the energy to affect a game for 15 - 20 mins, which is what we needed yesterday.

Billy Sharp - Joins Notts Forest on Season Long Loan
red&white56 replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
I'm in line with your thinking. If we do get relegated (and yes there is a possibility it will be us) will we keep all of these new players? I don't think so. Players like Billy would play an important role for us if we go down. However, asking him to hang around and be an insurance policy in case we get relegated is not fair to him. Good luck Billy ! -

If we bought him to get over the line then i hope someone also thought about whether he would cut the mustard in the PL - if we let him go it seems that our assessement of whom we needed to survive in the PL was poor. -
Wow, some very harsh appraisals on here ! I wouldn't want him to sign for Saints but that's not a good reason to slag him off.

Why did we buy him if he's so suddenly surplus to requirements ? I don't want to think that our leaders didn't think we would get promoted last year and only bought him to help us get promoted this year. We should keep him !!
