Whats particulary good about Southampton at the moment Well liked Billionaire Owner passed away suddenly In the relegation zone no goals in four games out of the JPT and League Cup Old Manager sacked after 4 0 win Injuries to the better players Chairman who has upset the National Press Fans with parking charges ticket taxes and no installment facilities If things improve people will be happier but at the present I think you have to be realistic things could be a lot better
-
I agree some of it was plausible the other day but now it now appears to be fantasy
-
I cannot disagree with anything you are saying but I am rather concerned about the Academy As a League 1 club are we getting the best youngsters in as results this season for the U18s are not good http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/AcademyFixtures/ I think the priority is to get out of League 1 as soon as possible and to sort out the Academy later

Where is the evidence that AC Milan were after Cortese in the First Place running a League 1 club financed by a billionaire for a few months does not seem to be good experience for running one of the top jobs in Europe. I have been very sceptical of of this episode in Cortese's stay at SFC and because of it I have never warmed to him. I did not really mind Cortese sacking the manager as he is the boss but doing it at the beginning of the season and before the transfer window closed was pretty poor management unless there was a really compelling reason to do so. Now we are in limbo until Adkins starts to make a difference to the team and with the apparent lethargy with the team it make take some time.

Seems plausible to me. However he is here now and likely to stay so lets hope things improve both on and off the field

Time to accept that it is unlikely we will go up

Last time Adkins got promoted S****horpe had less points than Pardew and SFC got last season -
Not sure he has the relevant experience and attitude to be running a football club. Not sure he is the top notch business man people are suggesting http://www.sportspromedia.com/movers_and_shakers/southampton_appoints_cortese_as_executive_chairman/ Although a reasonable job with access to the football world probably but not that high powered either and not particulary relevant to running a football club

I think that most people on this thread make inaccurate comments on this Forum including the experience and ability of players coaches and chairmen But are you saying that Cortese has strong links to Italian Football because I cannot find any evidence myself If so please let me know because I can only find limited info regarding Cortese who appeared to have a job running sports and entertainment departments in banks Although a reasonable job with access to the football world probably but not that high powered either and not particulary relevant to running a football club http://www.sportspromedia.com/movers_and_shakers/southampton_appoints_cortese_as_executive_chairman/ I doubt we will ever return to being a normal football club for sometime

Plus The team is in the Relegation zone

I saw Barnard score one in the Pre Season Friendly at Farnborough

I see we are not 'South Coast Team' anymore

Very Positive from Cortese I think in this case -
I thought this season there would be no excuses The team is not playing well but of course this may change

This is the quote At present there appears to be no individual or group appointed to monitor chairman Nicola Cortese in his running of the club. Decisions regarding the sacking of Alan Pardew, attempts to prise money out of the media sources for match day photosand the abandonment of the popular season ticket installment scheme have done much damage to the image of the club and its relationship withe the fanbase. We have seen what happens at Southampton before, when a man with no football experience at running a football club tries to impose his will over everyone and everything within the club infrastructure. But in the past at least there where other directors who could make a belated stand and challlenge the chairman. Currently there appears to be nobody with an independent body of experience and authority at St Marys to ensure democractic perspectives. As regards the Liebherrs they are duty bound to now listen to the supporters who fund the club and the limited company. If the family are committed to the clubs welfare their first concern would be to acknowledge fans perspectives and that commitment can only be confirmed with an announcement clarifying exactly who is monitoring the clubs progress above Mr Cortese. Whilst SISA is indeed grateful to Marcus saving the club, like all fans, we no believe that there has to be serious consultations and a firm assurance that his family remain excited and committed to the club and that somebody within their ranks will be taking acknowledged responsibility for ensuring the Chairmans conduct and behaviour warrants the position of custodianship that he has been granted. It is the emotional and financial commitment of Saints supporters and the continuing impressive attendances that ultimately ensured Markus's decision to invest in the club. Without that, it would not have been an attractive or sensible decision. Southampton FC is a precious social institution that ultimately onlu survives on the goodwill and passion of its supporters. Mr Cortese would do well to now realise that. They want to know what other supporters think
-
I dont think you understand the working of a supporters club Go a long and see what they are saying Perhaps we dont need one I dont know but it would be a good idea to know what is happening at SFC and give some input to Cortese.
-
Pardew and Cortese were never going to work The Divorce is going ahead and we have a new manager probably the best for all concerned except for the fans

Time to accept that it is unlikely we will go up

Yes I agree but NickG will come out with some statistics to prove otherwise. I just cant see how we can put in a promotion challenge without Lallana and Lambert performing like they did last season I suppose we could scrape into the play offs but where are we realistically going to get loan good players to spark the team -
I dont think you can blame Pardew he was only one of four on the Transfer Committee
-
I find it quite amazing how fickle the fanbase is a few weeks ago if anybody suggest that Pardew was not up to the job they would be met with a bit of abuse. I never thought Pardew was the man for the job he was OK but not great . I feel that Adkins could be very good but needs to be given time as the team still needs additions which Cortese/Pardew failed to get

Seeing Fialka on SKY was the lowest point in my nearly fifty years of supporting SFC I even thought it may have been better for us to fold instead of having him as Chairman. So I was pleased when Markhus bought the club but the pleasure turned to concern when we were being promised Premier League football within five years. Although it is quite possible for us to achieve the rise to the Premier League nothing is guaranteed Because of the high level of expectation some fans are shocked to be out of the JPT League Cup and in the relegation zone. There have also been some problems with ticketing which have not been explained sufficiently well plus problems with the national press which lead to concerns within the fan base. However I would like Cortese to act in a manner so that the club dont get so much negative press and these type of threads are not posted I think things are improving but Cortese is new to British Football and needs to learn it cannot be expected that he would be a perfect Chairman from day one despite some fans thinking that he was. A few wins in the next month or so will calm things down I dont live in Southampton but in Berkshire where I talk to fans of other clubs and most think there is something really wrong with club at the moment whilst last season they thought we had done really well in nearly getting to the playoffs
-
I saw Pulis in Preseason he was not very good but not very bad either
-
Only 19 Managers have been at their clubs for over two years which is quite a worrying statistic but sometime in the next few years he will go
-
Some fans are quite shocked that a team which did so well last season with a respected manager now find the respected manager sacked the team out of JPT League Cup and in the relegation zone. Which may lead them to think that the club is not professionally run.

Kicking a bag of wind around cannot be that difficult

Dont really know what to think a bit underwhelmed but Adkins is a reasonable appointment for a League 1 side. Hope he succeeds but between them Pardew and Cortese appear to have mismanaged the last few weeks so its going to be difficult as we are still short of three quality players which we were all expecting.
