  1. I will tell him later but I am pleased to hear that most people think we played very well Seeing somebody else who went to the game so I will see what he says
  2. According to my source who I go to games with Defence extremely secure Lamberts Penalties very good but apart from them nothing much The team played with no real width and not much imagination But we are in League 1 and should be improving throughout October and I fully expect to be in the play offs after the Dagenham game and perhaps sooner
  3. How do we know he is a successful businessman I cannot find anything about Cortese he may well be but so were Lowe Wilde and Crouch
  4. Just dont see why is career is ruined did very well last season only to be sacked by a peculiar italian who appears to upset a large number of people
  5. I find it very strange that since Pardew left the club fans think that he did not do a good job but while he was at the club he was greatly admired for doing a good job and most fans thought at the end of the season that it was ridiculous to sack him. I thought he did alright not great but should have been given the chance to get us out of League 1. I was surprised to hear that Danny Mills on Radio 5 Live said that Pardew was the best man manager he had come across so Pardew does have a good reputation within the game.
  6. I think you make a reasonable point I would have hoped that we would have done a little better since NA came to SFC although we beat Sheff Wed I understand we did not play that well and not beating Yeovil was not good. I think Pardew did OK not great especially at the start of the season where we should have done better but he was not helped by individual errors in some away games something which of course happens at this level of football. So lets see what happens when/if Lambert and Lallana start scoring like they did last season. Other fancied teams are not winning regularly so there is everything to play for and after beating Bournemouth in August it will be interesting what happens on Saturday
  7. Lets face we hardly signed anybody except Richardson as we had no right back and Dickson has not played much - although we have to pay Brentford appearance money Butterfield was signed after Richardson was injured . Pre season was poor going to Switzerland to play top class teams just as their season started was questionable followed by games against Farnborough Sutton Barnet where we did not play that well
  8. Seems a very good call to me But getting in decent strikers/wingers on loan is not going to easy
  9. John B

    Nathan Eccleston

Why was Cortese at the game What is his role in getting in players
  10. When does the Loan Window shut?
  11. Yes it was I was there no internet no booking fee just walked along Milton Road and stood behind the goal Did we have a Chaiman then? We probably did but no one cared who he was just cared about football The previous season had been pretty dire if I remember as we won very few games
  12. Only a light shower at Sheffield lets hope for a large downpour this week at Yeovil and Southampton Six points and we will be near the play off places
  13. I followed the Saints in 1978 whilst travelling in Thailand Malaysia and Indonesia by reading local newspapers and going to British Council Offices
  14. With all the bad press relating to Cortese I doubt whether you are right At the moment in the relegation zone sacking Pardew Probably most think the board are pretty incompetant
  15. Who knows but I dont think it would be a disaster if Cortese left as we dont really know how much money the Liebherrs are going to invest it has always been assumed that loads would be invested but has it I dont know By the way I dont see anything which suggests that the club is going to be sold
  16. Whats particulary good about Southampton at the moment Well liked Billionaire Owner passed away suddenly In the relegation zone no goals in four games out of the JPT and League Cup Old Manager sacked after 4 0 win Injuries to the better players Chairman who has upset the National Press Fans with parking charges ticket taxes and no installment facilities If things improve people will be happier but at the present I think you have to be realistic things could be a lot better
  17. I agree some of it was plausible the other day but now it now appears to be fantasy
  18. I cannot disagree with anything you are saying but I am rather concerned about the Academy As a League 1 club are we getting the best youngsters in as results this season for the U18s are not good http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/AcademyFixtures/ I think the priority is to get out of League 1 as soon as possible and to sort out the Academy later
  19. Where is the evidence that AC Milan were after Cortese in the First Place running a League 1 club financed by a billionaire for a few months does not seem to be good experience for running one of the top jobs in Europe. I have been very sceptical of of this episode in Cortese's stay at SFC and because of it I have never warmed to him. I did not really mind Cortese sacking the manager as he is the boss but doing it at the beginning of the season and before the transfer window closed was pretty poor management unless there was a really compelling reason to do so. Now we are in limbo until Adkins starts to make a difference to the team and with the apparent lethargy with the team it make take some time.
  20. How much for?
  21. Seems plausible to me. However he is here now and likely to stay so lets hope things improve both on and off the field
  22. Last time Adkins got promoted S****horpe had less points than Pardew and SFC got last season
  23. Not sure he has the relevant experience and attitude to be running a football club. Not sure he is the top notch business man people are suggesting http://www.sportspromedia.com/movers_and_shakers/southampton_appoints_cortese_as_executive_chairman/ Although a reasonable job with access to the football world probably but not that high powered either and not particulary relevant to running a football club
  24. I think that most people on this thread make inaccurate comments on this Forum including the experience and ability of players coaches and chairmen But are you saying that Cortese has strong links to Italian Football because I cannot find any evidence myself If so please let me know because I can only find limited info regarding Cortese who appeared to have a job running sports and entertainment departments in banks Although a reasonable job with access to the football world probably but not that high powered either and not particulary relevant to running a football club http://www.sportspromedia.com/movers_and_shakers/southampton_appoints_cortese_as_executive_chairman/ I doubt we will ever return to being a normal football club for sometime
  25. Plus The team is in the Relegation zone
