  1. Why do ypu post nonsense when our League position indicates clearly we are contenders for pomotion
  2. We had better players under Koeman and better players are what we need now. In the 1980s we had some top players and did pretty well but since being in the PL we have generally struggled to attract top players so results have been poor and no doubt this will conntinue We do have KWP but I expect him to leave soon
  3. 1963 was probably one of the best years I can remember being a Saints Supporter but it was bloody cold in January and February
  4. I hope tonights game will be as good as this one where ten man Saints lost 5 4 and we win this time I think Cliff Huxford was the replacement goal keeper Southampton v Preston North End, 07 September 1963 - 11v11 match report
  5. I think you a bit unrealistic to think this bunch of players would be in an automatic prpmotion position at the end of October Get real it is gpoing to take time to become a realistic pomtion bound team Not sure any of the squad would have got into Adkins squad regularly apart from KWP
  6. Does it matter I would like to be promoted with a squad who are likely to perform well in the PL not sure the current one has sufficient numbers to succeed there
  7. Very true but it does take time for teams to evolve
  8. I would not go as far as to say that but playing in a succesful team with a decent players does help a great deal
  9. As a first reaction I think people like to think badly of players these days not sure it was so prevelant years ago. I cannot remember being critical of players when I was watching players regularly years ago but KWP is the only current player I feel players well regularly as I expect all the others will back balls ups during the game
  10. Thats footbasll sometimes you win sometimes you lose. If you cannot accept that and expect perfect results most weeks I think you should think of doing something other than following the Saints Currently they are a work in progress as a team and have collected enough po[nts to be still in the prpmotion race after 20% of the season which is reasonable with the squad we have at the moment and with proper investment at the end of the year could be in the PL next season
  11. There was one great positive we fucking won
  12. The reason we are shit is because our recruitment is appalling even in the championship this season we have not recruited anybody who is standout at the moment Contrast it with Hampshire who do really well this season with players brought in from other counties like Fuller Barker Brown and Gubbins doing well They also get rid of young players who unlikely to make the grade to Div 2 teams but most home produced players do perform well for some of the season helping to win games
  13. Agree with you Saw this on the Internet which I fully agree with too Southampton had the worst window of all the relegated sides as their talent pool was raided. Romeo Lavia, Tino Livramento, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Tella, Mohammed Salisu, Moussa Djenepo, Mislav Orsic, Armel Bella-Kotchap, Duje Caleta-Car and Paul Onuachu all left the club, with the first five being for huge fees. In response to this exodus and transfer kitty boost, only Shea Charles and Ross Stewart were signed for fees, with Ryan Manning and Joe Lumley joining for free. The rest were loans for youngsters but the point is, this isn’t good enough, Leicester lost most of their stars but rebuilt completely and now look set to get promoted.
  14. You must be joking as I said earlier Adams Armstrong and Edosie are not just not good enough to be involved in a PL promotion campaign
  15. SR are a fucking joke if they think this squad is capable of promotion back to the PL
  16. I cannot really see t I find it hard to believe that any manager with a front three of A Armstrong Adams and Ediose would be able to get a team promoted to the Premier League especially with the goal keeper defence and midfield that we have at the moment. We need better players surely like we had in our last promotion before we chuck out the manager
  17. We have had four managers in the last year or so it seems completely unrealistic for any manager can get this group of players to be a team ready for the PL in nine months time, It will take time for the team to evolve to to challenge for promotion It took four years to return in 1974 and even longer when Adkins took us back up the last time, And those squads had far better players than we have today
  18. Fuller for Crane and we would have probably won I feel sorry for Crane who was over hyped and has achieved little I remember Alan Terry Castell who began as a leg-break and googly bowler but later switched to medium-pace was going to be the next best thing 60 years ago. for his 9th wicket stand of 230 with Danny Livingstone against Surrey in 1962
  19. Adkins had a decent squad who did well in Leauge 1 and evolved into a proper team Russell does not Today we have kids at CB a mediocre LB and no Rickie Lambert to score goals We also had Lallana Guly Cork Hammond and Schederlien Cannot see many of today's team improving Adkins team
  20. If that is the case we have a crap team but I still think KWP is a pretty decent player and one of the best we have bought in recent years
  21. SR are the cause of this by buying mainly young and inexperienced players but unlucky with injuries to both Stephens and Bednerak. Only KWP would stand out in our last promotion team the rest would have never got near it
  22. Need a couple of additional players Robson from Middx could be a good choice
  23. I know what you mean thats Football win some lose some This one really pissed me off First Season in Div 1 Southampton vs Blackpool (1-5) Dec 30, 1966 Still does I think we even scored first I think we beat Arsenal at home a couple of days earlier
  24. I am up for it as at present we are averaging 2 points a game so if we play 46 games on your logic we get 92 points surely good enough for promotion We do play 46 league games this season don't we?
  25. So how many points lost by Saints this season been the fault of GB three wins so zero in those games he may have been at fault for one of the goals on Saturday but I am not sure he lost us any points as we were well and truly thumped. So was he directly responsible for any of the goals against Norwich when we dropped two points not sure he was. I do not think it is a good idea to have such a young goalkeeper unless he was exceptional which he is clearly not but he must have something about him to get into the Man City academy. During our other promotions to Div 1 we had in 1966 Campbell Forsyth experienced Scottish International Peter Wells a 22 year old Goalkeeper from Nottm Forest in 1978 and the latest was experienced Kelvin Davies
