  1. won't find many better CMs than those that we already have, we need a striker before any other position now, a real one.
  2. thought Maya played up until the West Brom game and just missed the last 3 through some sort of minor injury. Could have been simply dropped though. Then again knowing that he had a full summer of games to come perhaps we just rested him a bit. Anyway Brazil-Japan this evening, competitive football at last.
  3. wasn't Maya injured for a while ? Or did the Olympics and the constant games for Japan just catch up with him ? Must have played nigh on 50 games last season.
  4. wouldn't think a 10 million £ winger is beyond our means, next years revenue from tickets + TV will probably exceed 80 million.
  5. He's a national hero round these parts, "Verts" country around here, if you don't know all about every St Etienne player since 1920 you're considered as a bit of a nonce. Aimé Jacquet comes from a village about 15 miles from here. You also have to hate Lyon nearly as much as you hate Pompey (I said nearly)
  6. Probably go down to Pompey, see what a third world country looks like.
  7. Platini junior is a director of a sports equipment manufacturer owned by the same company as PSG, Burruda Sport. In the main Platini junior is a legal advisor in France to all PSI activites and not PSG in particular.
  8. But at CB having a regular pairing is important in my view. We'll have to decide on 2 and fit the others in when needed.
  9. but Griffit weighed about 45 kilos when he came here. Doubt if Dyer was ever that lightweight.
  10. Think we'll let the Astori thing go now, unless we have plans to play Lovren elsewhere than at CB. We probably just pumped that up a bit this week (or last) to get Aulas to agree to our 8+2 offer and not pay 10 outright.
  11. And to describe Kenton as "exciting" well that's far fetched. Don't know which forum it was on but I warned you all about Griffit, he was just too small for top level football. Why he was built up to be some sort of future star when he'd just played a few French league 2 games (Blue Sq level at best) stumps me.
  12. think we'll start with Maya and Lovren at CB anyway. We'll have to see where Forren fits into the plan, can see Jos leaving though..
  13. don't know about a full back, Lovren can play there on both sides.
  14. Really ? I thought Laurent Platini was just a legal advisor to the company that owns PSG. He used to be a legal advisor to PSG a few years back but left them for the Lagardere group and then went to PSI (who own PSG). Didn't know he was on PSG board if in fact they actually have one. Platini is on record recently as a critic of PSG's spending.
  15. Platini played for St Etienne, doubt if he's a fan of PSG. Anyway there is now an investigation into some of PSGs recent transfers. Might even get kicked out of the CL.
  16. Woah there, not so much of the Gazza, in fact I expect Cropper to pass him in the pecking order next season.
  17. probably because previously to that he only had a million dollar buy out clause. New contracts don't always mean that the player earns more money or even that the club wants to keep him, it's just everybody protecting their interests.
  18. yes that's how it's being reported in Lyon.
  19. Like yer average Lyon fans knows anything about football. I work out of Lyon on occasions and the few that I've spoken to this week seem to think that Aulas is cutting off his nose to spite his face. Then again he's got a bit of a track record for that hasn't he. Remember this is the bloke who paid 28 million euros for Gorcuff.
  20. Ball player but not at all bad in the air.
  21. No target over 350 is the subject of a good decision. We need changes throughout the set up. Starting with Adams and whoever calls himself Director of Cricket these days. Recruitment is rubbish and coaching seems to be in the same vein. The first priority after last season's Championship campaign was bowlers, bowlers, bowlers but we didn't get any.
  22. He's a good CB but he's also versatile. Can play at "lateral" means full back I suppose and as a DM. Has made a few untimely errors this season but that could well be down to his situation at Lyon. They went through a rough spell and Aulas doesn't hesitate to criticise individual players in the press or on TV. Plus Garde is about a quarter of the coach that Puel was and his iffy performance is of course the players fault. Lovren was signed by Claude Puel who is very rarely wrong about players but he was unceremoniosly sacked by Aulas for no reason whatsover and replaced by Remi Garde his assistant or youth team coach or something. Puel cost Aulas far too much because of continual CL bonuses and he just sacked him. Garde started alternating Lovren with the veteran Brazilian Cris (an Aulas favourite) and the youngster Umtiti and that didn't obviously go down at all well.
  23. didn't get on with the coach at Lyon, then again there are always frasques between coaches and players at Lyon .Also frasques between the chairman and coaches, chairman and players, chairman and local politicians over their new stadium, in fact the chairman is a bit of a knob.
  24. Free transfer from Lyon, something that just doesn't exist. Aulas rarely lets his players who have any sort of residual value be out of contract, always sells them off with a year or two left on their contracts. As a rule Aulas sells to the highest bidder as well, players rarely get much say in where they end up.
  25. waste of paper anyway
