I expect we aren't really looking for all that many players...4 at the outside and that the "field" will be very narrow. Can only see us being interested in a CB (probably Astori) a FB (probably Gamez) and a striker with an AM being an option if we can find a good deal.

now where did I put my old boots
-
six weeks off sounds about right.
-
so then what was the outcome of the meeting between Billy Sharp and MP yesterday (if in fact it took place )
-
nearer 40 with the add ons...49 million euros anyway.. Plus tax free (ie he doesn't pay it, PSG do) salary of around 780K euros a month. So about 150K £ a week net, would cost PSG somewhere around a million and a half a month with tax and social charges, really you're getting into the realms of the unreal at that sort of salary. No player is worth that much, I mean he does a decent job but PSG still lose matches.
-
how many were there ? More than 2...can't all be skate fans then.
-
On Ruiz anyway, a CB who isn't great in the air but tidy in the tackle and has a good pass completion rate. Apparently some think that he's more of a DM than a CB.
-
Must be a Portsmouth signing then.
-
A Spanish player or a Spanish speaking player ? Could make a lot of difference on the WP front and as the FA give their accord on those.............
-
does he actually exist ?
-
and really for a player of his supposed quality the fee doesn't seem particularly high.
-
Will he ? I don't see where he's going to get a regular start actually, not with all the top players that we're going to sign...eventually
-
and as we couldn't pay them an add on they made trouble for us at the FA, beginning of the end pre-administration. Must have cost us about 350K in all I think, 250K in installments according to various criteria and the sell on fee.
-
Is he not ? that's simple then we just need to sell one or two of our better players or even just drop them so that he can integrate the side as he wishes. :x No need to buy top class players when you have JWP in reserve, remember his rabbit in the headlights hoofing forwards against Man U.

All sounds very Dan Brown to me.

Can Southampton break the top four next season?

never know, might be another Aquiliani around for them to buy. Liverpool's record for wasting money on players who don't adapt is legion. -

Liverpool without Suarez might not be a particularly daunting proposition. -

Still think we can come close by improving at both ends. Few more scored, few less conceded and we can move up a good few places. After that it depends on factors that we can't control like Arsenal's recruitment. Citeh,Chelsea will be top 2, Utd should be but Moyes isn't SAF so there may be ripples in the force there. Leaves one place and about 10 candidates, logically it's for Arse or Spurs but if they should lose Bale Spurs may be totally wiped out. Leaves Arsenal, good side but they're always fragile at some stage of the season or other, desperate for a really solid DM and we can at least deny them the one that we have. -

strange that Paine and the old codger next to him are looking to their right but Cortese is looking rather straight ahead. Perhaps he sees the game with expanded vision. -

100 million ? yeah right 40 at the most, then again rule of 3 , regular as gravity. -
Bearsy is a bear of very little brain, a name like Aspas...well he just can't pass it by now can he which is probably why he gets banned from time to time.. but he's like a small child, doesn't know any better on most occasions.
-
Ah yes the lad who had very definite views on Gary Speed...and why should he not. Signed as a MF and we turned him into a CB.

So probably not the player that Monk thought might be signing last Saturday then. Although I'd expect virtually all of the technical and coaching staff to be on holiday just now. Players must be back in, what, about 2 and a half weeks time so logically coaching staff would be off as well apart from those needed for "signing" purposes. So I'd guess it's more of a 3 monkeys approach than genuinely not knowing.
