Manager doesn't stand behind each player for the 90 minutes of each game telling him what to do. The tactics are just a guideline, after that it's down to the players. Didn't Romeu say just that only this week? Fans lend far too much importance to the manager. Football is about the players.
-
At this stage of the season yes. It's down to the players, always has been and some of the displays just aren't good enough. Manager was never good enough and nothing has changed in that respect. The players are good enough and their lack of address and continual errors are what needs to be corrected just now. I mean the Hoedt error on Sunday, the manager can't be held responsable for that. Nor the close range misses that seem to happen most games.
-
What is it exactly that you think they can do? Changing the manager brings absolutely no guarantees. Look at WBA and Stoke. There are just no really obvious managerial candidates about at this stage of the season. Our results are down to the players and we can't change all of them.

Vince test selection you mean ? Not sure that we need to worry a great deal about that. Unless he has a fantastic series in New Zealand that is. Pity about Bailey if that's the case. -
Gone in December ? He should never have been here in the first place. We knew what he was and yet we appointed him in desperation anyway.
-
His style of football must please the fans...or not. It's evidently a loss of face thingy. I mean the reason for sacking Puel was that he wasn't good enough right so this bloke obviously must be. Club have cocked up big time and are too proud to admit it.

Missed the first 25 minutes so can't say about that but after it looked like a turkey shoot, they could have had a packet and we offered nothing at all going forward. Still think that Hojbjerg brings nothing to the side in an offensive role.

You know a lot of clubs seem to pay Monaco a lot of money for players that aren't all that, all that. Perhaps Rosie has a few other accounts down that way.

Can any Yorkshire Saints help out Steve Moran?

Mega rich footballers only came to pass with TV money and global audiences. It wasn't our couple of quid for home games that were going to pay them tens of thousands a week back in the 80s. I remember selling fruit machine tickets issued by the supporters club to help the FC out. -
Swearing at SMS .... tolerable or offensive ?

Hmmm, good job the poor dear didn't attend football in days of yore then. -

Well with other clubs perhaps. However I think it's only moves to non-UK clubs that can be negociated during the final 6 months. May have changed recently though. I see him at a Nantes, Amiens type of club really.. -

Can't say I didn't warn you. -
Did we really have any intention of buying Promes?
Window Cleaner replied to ChiefScummer's topic in The Saints
Perhaps he wanted Promes from the off but All England Les probably tried to fob him off with Theo. -

Probably yes but on our terms and not theirs. Our terms weren't acceptable to them at the time so nothing was finalised. -
He's pretty much right though. We have good players, they can get us out of the situation.
-
Indeed, not many of them didn't become full internationals, and not for Macedonia and Kazakhstan either.
-
He'd be alright there if he had one of the best sides the Championship (let alone League 1) has ever seen.

When would you have pulled the trigger on Pellegrino?
Window Cleaner replied to Bad Wolf's topic in The Saints
Who turned us down I believe. Doing pretty well at Marseille just now. Then again they've a strong squad in a relatively weak league. I mean Thauvin scored 3 last night against Metz. Bit of a failure at Newcastle wasn't he ? -
Because he wanted to be Chairman I suppose. Excellent footballer, probably none too bright though.
-
We probably couldn't even get that done before he gets banned.
-
Well you can write off Nasri, he's unemployed for a reason. Something to do with illegal vitamin shots I believe. I mean you could give him a contract until his UEFA ban kicks in I suppose but it won't be long in coming, his TAS appeal having been turned down mid January.

All of these views don't take into account one basic thing. With whom do you replace him? The time for getting it right was last summer when there were still a few "respectable" managers about. Once other clubs start firing and hiring your choice becomes limited. We needed to get this right last June (or not sack Puel) and not be floundering around with an idiot at the helm once the season started. -

The difference being that Pochettino was a top class international footballer and had had a few years in management. He also had (and still has) a very tight knit and efficient coaching team that comes as part of the deal. This bloke was just a no mark that'd done a while assisting Benitez. Perhaps he was just put into place to await the eventual arrival of Benitez, who knows really. -
Why would he resign ? He was what he was when we appointed him so nothing has changed. It was up to Les and whoever to appoint the right bloke. Now if we want shot of him we have to sack him and pay him off. Fixed term contracts work that way. If he was a great manager and he wanted to leave to go to another club we'd ask for compensation, fixed term means fixed term you see.
