  1. Its an interesting view on the term reserves.... Of those who started last night for us, Cork, Morgan, Martin, Butterfield, and Harding have all started a league game this season or were a regular in our promotion winning side last season. Plus you have Bart who is a good player waiting patiently for his chance and SDR who has been great when coming off the bench and only 3 days earlier grabbed us a point!!. Of the other 4 Holmes is decent but injury prone, Ward-Prowse and Reeves are very promising Academy products, which leaves Forte who is in my estimation the only "real" reserve as he will never force his way in the team on pure merit when everyone is fit. The rest could. And then you have the "reserve" subs...Guly, Lambert and Barnard. Get a grip whingers....we lost a game away from home in the last 20 mins.... which in the whole scheme of things will be forgotten very quickly!! The ONLY thing that matters is getting promotion which will hopefully be this season. Bring on the 'Boro wall.........
  2. and what if all the main leagues in europe did the same in their 2nd cup competition and all the winners competed in the 'european nations' cup or league?
  3. heres a radical idea. Why not rebrand the competition as the 'English Cup' and make it that clubs may only play 'English qualified' players? This will help develop our nations players quicker, possibly encourage clubs to focus more on english players, and also fans would have a much better expectation of who was playing and the quality to be expected. And yes it would mean more kids and probably a lower quality overall but at least it would aid the national teams.
  4. "17 game unbeaten home run slightly dilutes what really is an epic run of victories!!!
  5. http://www.leaguemanagers.com/managers/mpl-league.html?seasonid=142&type=Season+Total well try this as obviously foo ked up using the link option!!
  6. This is not a bad place to start... shame there does not seem to be a "career" option! Last years makes for good reading
  7. too right we do.....75k I reckon!!!
  8. If you remove relegation from the Premiership then you remove promotion from The Championship, an obvious comment but this then completely devalues the Championship because without the incentive to progress to the highest/best league to play against the (current) best teams everyone will lose interest, from supporters, to chairmen, to players. This in turn dominoes down the system and would kill the game in this country. The motivation and incentive to create something successful - like Saints are actually doing now - would be removed. Do you think Markus and Nicola would have bought "League One Southampton" if the best the y could achieve would be winning The Championship? Of course they wouldn't. Clubs like Chelsea should remember that they are only where they are because of the money Abramovich (and Matthew Harding before him, as didn't he oversee most of the development of Stamford Bridge?) has invested, not because they have a massive supporter base. They do know BECAUSE of their success and have spent millions marketing themselves abroad. Before this time, 80's and most of 90's they were not much better than us in fact worse for many! A closed shop set-up is only good for one person....the owner.
  9. Spot on...bloody pointless thread. I have always thought it was more than likely to do with recruitment policy and the big picture "southampton style". who cares anyway....we are top of the league with THE best young manager in the country.
  10. be great if someone could create a chart which details the number of fans per mile - based on the assumption that all supporters travel from their home ground!! May be a better indication of who is best supported as its far easier for midland and northern fans to travel away.
  11. Thats why Jason Dodd and Paul Williams are employed by "the club"!!! I think BT would be a really good option at least for the next few months.
  12. we dont need a fan on the board, we need a board of fans. Perry McMillan, Mick O'Callaghan,Nick Illingsworth and Richard whatis****ingname will do for starters. PERFECT
  13. if it keeps whinging ***** like u away.....keep em coming NC.
  14. what about Peter Wells or Terry Genoe?! Seriously though Shilton by a mile and he also played a couple of seasons behind some of our weakest defence. Kept us in the top flight on a few occasions
  15. good, get rid. would make sense why NA has played him more than RJ....i.e. get him fit and playing so someone will take him!!! Save RJ for later!!!
  16. Think thats exactly why we may get both. However much it takes now to buy them it will no doubt save us money for when we are up in the Prem. As much as I like Rickie and Connolly there is no way that they will be good enough when we get to the Prem to fire us to the top 10 at least. Barney niether. To get to the top ten or higher we would need to spend 40-50 million at the absolute bare minimum. Getting young players in now will allow them to progress as players but more importantly as a team so when we do hit the Prem which is looking increasigly like next season, the transition will be as smooth as possible without wholesale changes!! Excellent policy....very excited for the next few years.....still desparate for a Centre-back though!!
  17. Steve De(E)Ridder Colin cLARKe
  18. Seaborne will never be anything other than average League One. He lacks the pace to step up (as does Jaidhi now) and against quick lively teams that press hard he hasn't the speed of thought or level of footballing ability to cope. Martin will be fine as 4th choice and Radhi as 3rd choice. We need a player who is quick, strong and better than Fonte. Not sure Harding or Dickson will ever be Premier quality but probably good enough this year, and hopefully Reeves and/or Shaw will break through soon. Butterfield and Richardson have played at this level before so we should be ok this year. I would like to see a new keeper but clearly Adkins is more than happy with Davis and Bart so fair enough! Overall we need AT LEAST one CB NOW and let Seaborne go even sooner!
  19. Maybe Jemal was on the original list and now Gorkks has been offered its too good to turn down. Any delay for a work permit may well apply to Gorkks as well. Football is a harsh business....moving Seaborne on to make way for both would be perfect!
  20. 1) we sign a centre-back but not jemaal nor kilgallon 2) we sign Billy Sharp 3) Chamberlain signs a new 5 year deal 4) We hammer WBA 6 Nil with Lambert scoring all six 5) Fonte signs anew 3 year deal 6) Jack Cork is named Captain neck sticking out enough!!
  21. For someone who suffers incredibly from Back pain, the way Lambert is sitting in those crap seats with no room for tall people suggests actually that there is very little the matter with his back!!!! I guess its all relative to what you do for a living!!!
  22. what if someone has offered silly money, say 5-6 million for him? Would we accept that?!! I did actualy think it ws strange that he wasnt in the away picture....or maybe The9 has created this story simply on the basis of the lack of him in the marketing?!!! but then it is slightly strange that he wasnt in it..........mmmmm!!!!
  23. Sums Davis up completely which is why we need to replace him NOW. If Bart is up to it, great otherwise a new youngish/experienced keeper should be signed.
  24. cancel the wedding or the honeymoon then! DOH!!
