I think we should actually knock St Marys down and build a much smaller stadium that only those who have been to every game for the last 10 years can go. That way we will never get to the CL will get less income worse players and quickly drop down the leagues maybe get sold to a group of fans never produce good kids because we cant afford the academy and then finally end up in the blue spuare south. At least then certain people would be happy cos no point in doing anything remotely positive with this club as the real fans couldnt handle it. And to top it all off we could play the skates every year. Happy days.

I would be disappointed if we sold the so called naming rights but even if we did it would still be St Marys to every one which would devalue that sale anyway. If the Leibherr family after many more years either extend significantly the stadium or build another I doubt many would mind a formal change of name to say the Leibherr Arena.

Circumstances unfortunately dictated watching the game on tv and in the pub and The Alex was the venue of choice but it could not have been better either during or after. AWESOME ATMOSPHERE. Best pub in town for football!

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition
MarkSFC replied to Jimmy_D's topic in The Saints
I expect that we will bring 6 or 7 players in while releasing/selling Holmes, Seaborne, Harding, Jaidi, Barnard, JonnoQuick, Connolly, and Puncheon. I would hope that the 'calibre' of player is one of young hungry and still not quite t their peak. Players who may fit the bill; Hooper JRod Rhys Williams McEachran Matt Philip Tom Ince Guthrie -
I wish u every luck in getting rid of the parasites as quickly as possible and hope u survive. I too have always regarded our two clubs as similar in terms of history and size of city and therfore potential support level.

everyone needs to get to the pub early to calm the nerves build the atmosphere and to ensure the singing is pumped and very intense. This is going to be an amazing day.
-
well we started the season on live tv and I seem to recall we we quite good that day so I have no doubts that we will finish the job off in style. The 'pressure' of last opportunity will focus the minds of this team. When its really properly mattered they have not let us down.
-
I agree to some degree about Fonte who seems to have stood still - no pun intended - over the season. Hooiveld though has been excellent mostly The problem I think we have is the lack of an out and out defensive centre midfielder. All 3 are niether that or an attacking midfielder so the balance hn midfield has never been quite right and this is the area I think has cost us in our defeats. I have no doubt whatsoever that we will beat Coventry so in the summer we will need 1 CM and CB if not two better than we have. Fonte, Cork and Hammond should not be first choice next season.

Which pub would you recommend in Southampton to watch the match?
MarkSFC replied to rog's topic in The Saints
always The Alex! -
I think we need to make 4 decent signings, a CB a CM, a RM/W, and a ST. Possibilities or wishlist would be: Matt Phillips Gary Hooper Curtis Davies Tom Huddlestone Depending on the progression of Jack Stephens we may need a loan at right back until he comes through. We will also need a keeper at some point in the not too distant future to take over from Kelvin. Players I would let go/sell: Seaborne Jaidhi Harding Bart Forecast Barnard Connolly - although maybe worth a coaching role with the academy It's going to be an interesting summer....

why take it so personal? No....haven't forgotton what he's done but doesn't mean he is good enough now or for the prem. I dont understand why w*nkers like you get hung up on players who have done little and would go tomorrow for 50k extra.
-
good. now we can sell him!
-
fair play and congrats to them. They have best defence, we have best attack. We could still end up with more points than QPR last yeaq and come 2nd. Whatever order we both finish in we have both been great, them for their 17 game run, us for awesome consistancy for being top2 all season.

How long do you avoid football sites when things go t1ts up??
MarkSFC replied to Joey-deacons-left-nut's topic in The Saints
when it all goes tits-up I will let you know. Get a f****** grip. -
its a strange one this cos when you think about EVERY game is on tv! Nerves shouldnt be anything to do with it but results for live tele suggests otherwise. I think this season its more to do with the fact that the opposition seem to get themselves up for it more - not tgat we wouldnt be as obviously over the season we are best - and thats almost certainly because its thd 'league leaders Friday though is different and is near as damn it The Championship decider and so far in the last 3 years this has hardly failed us when it really mattes.

they can read now? Shi t we are in for it. With intelligence upgrades of that significance maybe they are capable of planning such deeds. As normal they will all get a little over excited coming up to the big city and p is s themselves improving on the overall odour which lingers around them. And no doubt when we get to 5 nil we had better stop because i cant imagine they have mastered counting to 6 and higher yet whilst all the reading has gone on. I read somewhere that the instructions for the 'bubbles' were posted on line when originally anounced and they all thought it was to do with their West ham games
-
pompey owe one hundred mill, one hundred mill pompey cannot pay the bil cheating skate bast@rds and repeat
-
west ham need to get 7 more points than us in just 6 games. We could have been in a very strong position but as it is we are in a strong position. Basically two wins next weekend and we may well be able to clinch promotion against reading on tv at home! Massive weekend coming up!!
-
it may be true it may not be true that we are on the market but in essence every business has its price and if the right purchaser makes the right bid at the right time then a sale may or may not happen. Just as it happens with players as such stories like this are almost certainly 'paper talk' and 'mud-slinging' probably initiated by west ham connections!

was never good enough before, extremely unlikely he has become better during his time recovering. I hope he enjoys a good rest of his career.............somewhere else.

[quote=Noodles34;131) Some people do not think Saints will win every game, some people have watched them long enough to know how we can **** things up. I spent most of the late 80's and early 90's seeing us fail to reach the League Cup Final over and over again, no matter what lesser team we drew out of the hat. and herein lies the problem within our supporters. People become conditioned by their experiences and coupled with their natural instincts either think that the past dictates the likely outcome of the here and now or actually has little to do with it In the case of Saints it has nothing to do with it because it is a completely different set of players staff and management. They are not affected by saints in the 80s or 90 because they obviously were not there which allows the complete fresh perspective and attitude. I understand why you and many of our fanbase have thir feeling that we will messit up ''because thats wgat saints do'' but this is a team and a club that is extremely well managed and a group of players who are very good at winning and achieving the aims set for them. I lived through the 80s and 90s but also the late 70s which with the early 80s were a level of success most saints fans do not expect to experience again. Im not so sure now, i think it may be possible what any individual believes is their choice but its exactly that - a choice. Cortese, Adkins and the players all choose to believe that SFC is going places and its that approach that maintains performance The last people on the bus are understandably in some cases are us fans as a whole. Individually its your choice whether u jump on board now and enjoy the ride or make other arrangements down the line to get on board the journey. When we are all on board as one who knows what can be achieved.

actually it soundr like one last try to alter our mindset, to attemp for complacency to enter our camp. The man ir pathetic, he has been cracking under the pressure gold and sullivan must put him under to achieve promotion. I'd be amazed if he is their manager come next season and probably not even by the end of this one. Not that i really care about the jumped up arrogant little club. We have NA so no mind games here just success!
-
I think that Southampton FC was actually a sort of a gift of a project to Cortese from Markus. for Markus I expect the purpose was mainly sporting and personal and far far less money orientated than alot of people think. When ones personal fortune is supposedly in the billions then making 50 million by investing say 50 million isnt actually going to make any difference to ones lifestyle. For Cortese it will be a life changing project I suspect. It will be his career defining role and on top of that he will be driven by the memory of his friend. I like the lack of public connection with the club shown by the liebherr family and that just fuels speculation of a lack of interest. This may be accurate but equally it could show a complete and utter trust in Cortese and a desire to let him carry out the wishes of their relative. For these reasons i think that we are actually in very safe hands for the next few years. there will be a point in the future that is the best moment to sell and maybe they will take it. And if they do fair enough because we will be in a hugely better place than we were when Markus and Nicola took over.

as far as making saves I think Kelvin is up there with the best. Unfortunately other aspects of his game are not so good which is probably the reason england never came calling. His command of his area is un-inspiring and he stays on his line too much at corners for me. Also his kicking is not the most accurate. I also think that his distribution in terms of speed lets him down. I dont blame him for the last two weaknesses in his game as when he learnt the game keepers could pick the ball up more and for most of h4s career he has just hoofed the ball as opposed to playing out from the back as we do now. The game has moved on as have saints and sooner rather than later kelvin will have to too in order for saints to keep progressing even though he has shown unquestionable loyalty and service. I hope he goes into coaching for us.
