  1. In your neck of the woods, about 80m I would guess.
  2. For some of which they (the father) have been tried and sentenced. The arms trafficking was in Angola - a spectacularly nasty civil war where, of course, there were many child victims. http://www.haaretz.com/news/israeli-mogul-gaydamak-sentenced-to-jail-in-france-for-gun-running-1.5294
  3. I've been on the other side of it (although never lost), and 'the Liebherrs' is the key to any action. I'm sure a lawyer's letter will be sufficient to get it taken down.
  4. I know you can't libel the dead - the post makes reference to the whole family, not just Markus. And seriously? It's unbelievably libellous, and the medium through which it is expressed has nothing to do with it.
  5. Made me laugh. The usual suspects.
  6. Is there any evidence for that? Much more likely, surely, is that the 'third party' suddenly emerged with what must have seemed like an expensive fait accompli. Only it wasn't.
  7. I'd expect legal action on that. A worse case of defamation is hard to imagine.
  8. Indeed, but let's see how this plays out. Will it degenerate into crowd intimidation of the players as they effectively run the gauntlet to get into the training ground? Or has this thread had some moderating influence on the potential for harassment - as is evidenced by the attempt at careful language in that little missive?
  9. These kinds of incidents always freak out the gun lobby. The fact is, though, that gun control has become laxer, not tighter, since Columbine, so god knows what will happen now - perhaps it'll become a requirement that all Americans must keep a smorgasbord of semi-automatic weapons otherwise reserved for special forces in their homes. The whole constitutional 'right to bear arms' is smoke and mirrors anyway. As written, it's tied in with the right to raise militias (basically to defend against any counter-revolution from the British) and has nothing to do in intent with the right to enter cinemas, schools, banks, etc., and murder as many people as possible.
  10. Well surprise, surprise. Just two days after the shooting and we're already knee-deep in conspiracy theories. It was all a US government PsyOps operation. Holmes was an Oswald-like patsy. And it's all because of an upcoming UN vote on a small arms treaty. Freaking lunacy. http://www.examiner.com/article/conspiracy-theorists-call-dark-knight-shooting-a-staged-government-plot
  11. So is Neil Allen calling for a mob at the gates? It might be interpreted as such if he's not careful.
  12. Really? They'll have to name it HMS Scumbag in his honour then. If he and his ilk are going to finance this, it'll be nothing more than a monument to way the super-rich **** on British taxpayers.
  13. Agreed, Lord T - although I wouldn't be surprised if Adkins has been set a Europa place as a target for this season. Optimistic...
  14. Then why all the bleating from the club about the players getting nothing in the event of liquidation? I hope they're not telling porkies just to play to what counts for a gallery over there.
  15. Meaning they get nothing from the club, but the wages/outstanding contract/deferments are settled by the PL from parachute funds that would have been paid to the club?
  16. Yeah I saw that. Appalling doesn't even begin to describe it. I imagine our resident auto-didact is banking on some of those cretins to cough up.
  17. So where IS the money coming from then? That article is ludicrously short on detail - or reassurance that it won't fail and fall back on the mug taxpayers to pick up the tab.
  18. In the six months since this thread started, the estimated cost of this piece of idiocy has increased by a staggering £20m. The age of austerity indeed.
  19. Stratford.
  20. All under the watchful guidance of newly appointed captain Francesco Schettino.
  21. This thread now has more pages than the Bible.
  22. Or with a range of firepower only available to the military in other countries.
  23. Yep, it stinks. Still, Ian Tomlinson's family have a civil suit coming up, which presumably now more than ever will enjoin the Met. At least they should get some decent compensation. I only hope it goes to a full hearing - the Met are very adept at avoiding these by coming to a pretrial settlement that includes no admission of fault.
  24. He said I was the most tedious, which ranks higher I think.
