Man Utd v Saints Post Match Hmmmmm.....
syd_barrett_saint replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Sounds like a manager in the making to me. He speaks French, I'd have him helping Puel out and translating for him. -
Back up for me now, but it was down inaccessible for all of the 3pm kick-offs.
-
Is the sportsmania website down for anyone else, or just me? :-/
-
My wife who speaks French and has worked in translation/interpreting for a long time overheard the press conference as I was listening to it today, and also said that the translator was pretty bad at his job. Which is probably making things even more difficult for Puel.

Saints Won, Watford 1.....Post match meltdown
syd_barrett_saint replied to Ohio Saint's topic in The Saints
I felt that Ward-Prowse was also at fault for ball watching, although slightly further from Capoue than Romeu. All it takes is one of them tracking the run and we keep a clean sheet. -
This thread just goes to show what a joke Saintsweb is at times. Redmond wasn't fantastic by any means, and had some poor moments, but he scored one very well taken goal, put another in the back of the net with a great finish but was marginally offside, forced a good save from their keeper cutting in from the edge of the box, and all in all made a menace of himself for the Watford defense in a way no other Saints player did on the day. What more do you want on his first competitive game playing up front, his full debut for the club at a fairly young age? And you call that average?

Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day
syd_barrett_saint replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Oh behave, Stekelenburg was quite poor for us and has been for years, and he's never going to improve at his age. McCarthy is still young and was great for Reading. If we are buying him then Dave Watson will be behind this and he'll get him back on track. I'll be much happier with our back-up keeper than in any recent years with this transfer. -

One of two players we're reportedly after who have been recently suspended for gambling! (Pied is the other) http://www.espnfc.com/as-monaco/story/2901006/monacos-valere-germain-handed-two-match-suspended-for-gambling -
VIDEO: Les Reed on Ronald Koeman's future
syd_barrett_saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Well, he could have answered the first question in a way that gave credit to the manager. Anything else is arrogant after the last 2 seasons we've had under Koeman. -
VIDEO: Les Reed on Ronald Koeman's future
syd_barrett_saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Overall it's a nice interview, but why can't Les respond to the initial question "how impressed have you been with Koeman" with a straight answer "very impressed"? And then continue to ay everything else. It seems slightly arrogant to me, like Les and his team want to take the credit themselves and not give too much to Koeman. -
Though after today Man City will still have a game in hand on us.

Fancy that, Whitey Grandad standing up for a refereeing decision.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 2-0 Bournemouth
syd_barrett_saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
All the players were under pressure for a whole half. Vic was the only one in the 2nd half who made a yellow card-worthy challenge, and he was the only one that couldn't afford to! I'm a big Vic fan, but it was a stupid red. -

But there was no way he needed to make that challenge! We head teammates covering him. -

People said the same about Mane. Be prepared to be proved wrong. -
It can be annoying, but this time he's right. It's ridiculous to suggest that Ings would have gotten injured had he gone to Saints instead of Liverpool.
-
This season I am convinced, Pelle is the real deal. He's surpassed all my expectations. Well played Grazi!
-
Our defending was atrocious and I don't understand why Yoshida was playing at RB, but effectively we lost this game because of the terrible offside decision, and Ward-Prowse not getting a clear penalty in the first half. De Gea being a superhuman also doesn't help. Bad luck all round.

Thanks, ScepticalStan.

I would also like to add my agreement. -

How did I know that this comment would end up being about Davis! -
Les Reed is representing our club, and trying to improve our image, so obviously he is going to try to put a positive spin on everything in the media. Anything that helps to improve our image can only help the club - pragmatically I don't have a problem with it, and if you do, then perhaps you shouldn't be taking much notice of what anyone says to the press. I'm not sure what the lies are you are talking about, I don't really take much notice of what is said myself - I am not spoon fed and nor do I deny anything or get wound up about things. I watch what we do on the pitch and see where we finish in the league and to be honest, I am very impressed. I'm sure the club has made some mistakes, but clearly they have not been major ones if you consider our recent trajectory. I was just laughing at someone who seemed to be trying very hard to find fault at a club that has been one of the most successful in the country over the past few years, in terms of improving our status both in league position and financially. No settling here - I am hungry for more, and I trust Les and the board to continue with the constant improvements we've seen over the past few years.
-
We really have dropped a ton of massive clangers on our journey from -10 points in League 1 to 8th in the Premier League followed by 7th and a Europa League place, haven't we? Good job we have sunshine ballarks Les to cover up the terrible job full of cock ups at our ailing club!
-
Whatever happens, I am quite sure that JWP and Steven Davis will both be in and around our first 22 players.
-
We should move on quickly and put in a bid for this Alternierend fella.
