Would love to see Brentford in the Premier League! My Nan and Grandad (never met the latter) were Brentford fans.
-
I'm coming round to this line of thinking too. Yoshida was absolute trash against Sunderland. If we have to keep Alderweireld in midfield, I'd like to see Gardos given another go instead.
-
It's still a selective stat that distorts the truth. Why not include the previous 6 minutes?
-
He has been pretty awful for most of the season. But I do remember his best performance was probably home to Sunderland, where he set up a ton of goals. Maybe he'd do well against Sunderland again? Although recent form would suggest otherwise. Would like to see Djuricic given another go instead if he's fit.

Read my initial post again. I was talking about Saints playing well without a big man (Pelle) away to Chelsea. How Chelsea line-up is immaterial to the discussion.

Veho Muvi K2 vs Go Pro Hero 4 Silver
syd_barrett_saint replied to syd_barrett_saint's topic in Technology Chat
Thanks for the replies everyone. But, it seems that no one has got/used both, to be able to give a direct comparison? -
What's that got to do with what you quoted me saying?
-
Yep, I think Chelsea away was proof enough that "a big man to hold up the play" isn't always necessary. A good option to have for some games maybe, but I'd like to see us go with Mane, J Rod and one other (maybe Chicharito... or Ings, who knows) for a lot of games next season.
-
I thought that Mane and Long up front at Chelsea looked promising. Would be nice to see that again, against lesser opposition. If we are thinking of dropping or replacing either, then surely it would be Pelle. But really, we should be looking to hold on to him as an option, and also bring in another striker to ease the burden. Pelle, Mane, Long, J Rod and one other (Austin or Ings for example) would give us good strike force options for what is hopefully a season with more games due to a good run in the Europa cup

It's funny, because I thought Hesketh was the most dangerous player on the pitch until he was cynically done by a Burnley clogger, as retribution for Hesketh having gone in a bit late on their keeper, which I thought was forgivable considering it was his first start and he was clearly full of adrenaline. I honestly think we'd have gone on to win that game with no problems if Hesketh hadn't gone off injured. And he probably would have got a nice run in the team too... perhaps we wouldn't have then had to later put up with one-paced crap like Elia and Djuricic.

Post-Match Reaction: Stoke City 2-1 SAINTS
syd_barrett_saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Jesus ****ing Christ. How the hell did we lose that? -
2nd post in this thread. Clearly Ron reads Saints Web... but only the first page of each thread ;-)

I'm trying to decide between the two, and being a Saints supporter I'm tending towards the Muvi, and also it's cheaper and comes with a lot of kit/mounts, but would I be making a mistake ignoring the more established Go Pro? Has anyone got/used both? Cheers!

Saints website getting politicised?
syd_barrett_saint replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
Oh yeah, I meant Adsense, not Adwords - although they are two sides of the same Google ad system. -
Saints website getting politicised?
syd_barrett_saint replied to SaintJackoInHurworth's topic in The Saints
They use Google Adwords for some of their website adverts. Saints probably don't even realise that the Tories have appeared on the site through that channel. -
What about keeping Yoshida in the team (I think he deserves it), bringing Clyne back in, and moving Alderweireld to midfield instead of the suspended Wanyama? Toby looked good there briefly earlier in the season.

Not sure if this is directed at me, but I'll answer anyway as it makes sense that it would be. My Dad was actually born in London, very close to Brentford's stadium. But he lived in Southampton for a long time as a young man and started to watch Saints on a regular basis when he got into football. He watches out for Brentford results even though he never went to their matches as he was never into football as a kid growing up there. Then our family moved to Bournemouth just before I was born, but he carried on supporting Saints, and has for over 40 years now. I actually went to both Saints and Bournemouth games for a while as a teenager, because they would usually be on opposite weekends. But nothing can compete with your first love, right?
-
I was just about to take the **** about you being born in Boscombe, and then I remembered that I was born there too in the old hospital that was torn down many years ago. I'm getting old...
-
I'm from Bournemouth, but my Dad is a Saints fan and made sure I saw the light. That said, I love to see Bournemouth do well, just not against us. Really looking forward to watching them in the Premier League next season, it would be great if they could stay up.

Top 4 chance now gone? Europa Thoughts?
syd_barrett_saint replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Definitely tough fixtures, but they have also had some hard fixtures and are still on form. It would be a massive collapse in form for them to suddenly drop to less than a point per game. Would love to see it though! -

Considering their respective form, I find it amazing that you think Utd will get only 6 more points from 7 games, whereas City will somehow turn things around and get another 17 points in the same period. 5 wins and 2 draws for City seems even less likely to me than Saints going undefeated for the rest of this season. Either way, would LOVE to see your predictions come true! -
Would love us to get Benteke in. He's showing what he can do again, now that he is fit and being correctly managed. He's exactly what our team is missing.
-
Get in. Love to see Liverpool get beat comprehensively. Hope it's a miserable day for all Merseysiders today.

I'm pretty sure that Jose Fonte would speak enough Spanish to get along with him fine. Most Portuguese speakers can. Also, if Toby stays, he probably speaks some Spanish from his time at Atletico. And I would guess that Koeman does too from when he played at Barcelona (I doubt that he just learnt Catalan). Perhaps Jay Rodriguez speaks a bit of Spanish too, what with his ancestry. Must sound odd with a Burnley accent.

I don't think he was ever world class. But definitely a talented goalscorer. Beyond if he would want to come and if we could afford his wages, there is also the consideration that United might not sell him to a team they might now consider as a threat to the top 4.
