Thanks Monk. Leaves you wondering how the hell has it come to it that Spurs have been able to talk to Toby's agent (which means they must have agreed a fee with Atletico, right?), but Saints have not even had a response to their contact with Atletico. Given that we had him on loan and had a contract with a buy-back clause that had not been properly cancelled.... I just don't understand how or why we are waiting for Atletico to respond to us "making contact". Surely we were in the driving seat and should have been in contact with them from near the point when Toby's loan was ending. Really confused.

Imbula has signed for Saints for £60m?

PS - You coming back on here is just attention seeking and stupid. If you expect anything but a negative reaction, you need your head checked. But then, if you are close to Adam in some way, none of this should be a surprise.

The only deluded one here is you. If you count earning more money as bettering yourself, then great. I don't. I work for myself turn down business all the time, because I can, and because I value my time and happiness higher than earning more money. And I'm not even close to being rich - when you earn a ****-ton of money already, does getting more really matter all that much? Each to their own, I guess. But to suggest that Lallana has bettered his career by going to Liverpool, by any other metric other than financially, is completely and utterly deluded.

I'm going to be in Iceland on August 6th already! But unfortunately fly out again that afternoon, so it would probably be before the match if we happened to get drawn against an Icelandic team. But given that it's a small possibility, I'm going to check my flight booking terms and conditions to see about the possibility for changing to a flight the next day... would be so frustrating to be in Iceland on the same day as the match but not be able to go.

Fair enough... but if we get to the Europa league final we'll have about 60 games to play this season ;-) 30 games each is more than just rotation! Let me dream...
-
I'm not sure he's the answer, but who knows, with his injury and other problems behind him, he could have a breakthrough season. But I'd rather see us sign Austin and have him and Pelle rotate as we push for success in the Europa League, a domestic cup, and try to finish as high in the league as possible again. We'd have a far better chance of all that with Austin taking pressure of Pelle, than we would trying to rely on Gallagher, unless he surprises us all (which I would love to see, but I am skeptical).
-
I think we need a direct challenger/alternative option for Pelle. Right now I can't see who we would play in his role if we need to rest Pelle (as we should have done more often last season, and will certainly need to do this coming season with the extra Europa games). J Rod, Mane and it seems Juanmi all suit the positions behind the main striker better, Long could play there but I'm not convinced, so unless Gallagher steps up this year we really need a player like Austin who can play up on his own to challenge and rotate with Pelle for that specialist position.

Cheers! I might not bother with the membership then. I suppose there might be the possibility of another trip home during the season, but probably not worth getting the membership now just on the off-chance of that.
-
Do you think that membership would increase my chances of getting a ticket to the Europa league qualifiers on July 30th and August 6th? I'll only be back in England/Europe for that time window, so they would be the only games I could get to in the next year.

A Bavarian cabbie also just told me the same!

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan

...and nothing has changed, he's still not Premier League standard. -
We should try to sign Austen and Elmohadhammy too ;-)

We're all going on a European tour
syd_barrett_saint replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
We'll be seeded in the 3rd qualifying round, like Dortmund, so won't be playing them. We probably wouldn't be seeded in the final play off round after that though, so I assume there is then the chance of playing them in that :-/ -
Weird, but funny.
-
Ah, maybe. I've never really noticed ;-) I would still guess that there are more white players than black in the league, though.
-
Well, when you have a large % of white players, and a small % of black players, but pick the same number of each in an "ugly top 10" then yes, you are potential heading towards racist territory. You big racist.

Pelle's goal should have won goal of the season, pretty ridiculous that fans voted for Long's effort ahead of that. Long took advantage of Given being off his line, with lots of time and space. A lot of players would have done the same. Pelle's was pure skill and grace. And even more impressive given his stature.
-
Exactly, apart from the Gazzaniga shock (and really, can he be that much worse than Davis has been?), it's a good side. Toby back at CB is the most important... it might not even matter who we have in goal with that back 4 shielded by Wanyama and Reed.
-
I bet Gazzaniga plays a blinder and everyone suddenly starts to think he's the answer while Forster is out injured. And then he goes straight back to being crap again.
