I'm still chuckling that some on here had thought he'd just breezed back in and was cracking on with pre-season training on Monday without any fuss

Yes, but do you think we'll hold onto Spiderman and will Toby go to Spuds?!?!

I'd agree with most of the sentiments on here. Annoying though, this is a good signing and a good deal for Liverpool, they've done well.

Can anyone confirm how it works in terms of the selling club having to pay up the remainder of a contract for a player that hasn't put in a transfer request?

Yeah, stuck that up further on the page, decent read. Not sure how itk Mitten is, but always comes across as a sensible, well-informed bloke. -

I was just responding to Steve's assumptions on what might have been agreed with Schneiderlin. -

What happens if a Champions League club comes in with the full offer a day before the transfer window has closed? -
I reckon away tickets at Bournemouth will cost a fortune, definitely £40+.

Hardly any Cat B games. Does make sense the way the fixtures have fallen. The Cat As will sell out. Decent number of Cat Cs, plus Europa games, plus cups should give a good opportunity for those that don't want to pay the silly money for tickets.

Yeah, who knows. But we have been linked with a load of central midfielders (even taking the media summer over-drive into account) and Schneiderlin has spoken very openly about what he wants to be doing with his future. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. But, whilst speculating, would we rather take £24m now, than £28m on the last day of the transfer window for example? -

Yeah, we don't have to agree to a transfer. But I'm just reading between the lines and assuming we've made some kind of agreement with Schneiderlin that he'll be off for his Champions League football - who knows, hopefully I'm wrong and he'll be happily playing for us this season. -

Because if we are to lose Schneiderlin, we'll need to bring in a top class replacement and the longer the summer goes on for, the harder it might be to bring our first choice in. -

The thing is I can't see Schneiderlin being happy staying with us for another year. And we're potentially missing out on our first choice replacements for him. There'll come a point soon enough, we might have to lower our asking price. -
What's Spurs current Centre Back set-up looking like?

No-way can that post be serious though? -
Hazard isn't a "freak" though, lots of top players play twice a week across league, cup, european and international fixtures, no reason for Clyne to be particularly knackered by the end of January.

The whole thing getting drawn out over the summer does us no good either. Would be better if we can sell him asap and bring in his replacement, but I'm sure United and co are well aware of that to. -

He was hopeful Clyne was going to sign not too long ago. He is very open in these interviews. Agree, he does come across as a top, top bloke. -

Anyone who thinks Dani Osvaldo has just strolled back in to crack on with pre-season training can't really be serious. -
That's pretty unlikely to happen. Plenty of people have lived in Spain prior to freedom of movement, I can't see Spain wanting to get rid of them any time soon.

Why don't we sign players on longer contracts?
Sour Mash replied to stevy777_x's topic in The Saints
3- 4 years seems typical for most deals at most clubs. Saints don't want to be tied to a player on high wages that has failed and often players don't want to be tied to a club for too long. 3 to 4 years is a good chunk of a player's career and a reasonable compromise. -
Cheers. Surprising if Tadic isn't back, I'd have thought whatever injury he had would have cleared up enough to at least to be part of the pre-season process.
