Such a shame for him, thought he was our best player before the injury and by a mile his most accomplished performance so far. Yet another option taken off the table. Wish him a speedy recovery.
-
Frustrating night, we put in a decent display under the circumstances against a very good team but we just don't have the squad depth to deal with the number of injuries we have. My main concern is that we're not creating enough chances at the moment, born out by the fact we have only scored one goal in our last five games. We desperately need to add one or two to the squad but looks like finances won't allow us to do that.

The latter is the former.

Ralph has a job for life here. But no doubt he will be off to a bigger club sooner or later. Let's enjoy whilst he's here.
-
I think there's a player in there and he started well when he first broke into the team but has too many lapses in concentration, as someone said he seems too casual sometimes. Probably best if he moves on now, however we would then need to sign more cover at RB.

Credit to West Ham who made it very difficult for us and they looked the more likely to score towards the end. Again we looked slow and bereft of ideas, our tiny squad is costing us now as after the first eleven we have very few options to come in and do a good job. Just compare our bench to West Ham's. Really need to freshen things up with a couple of new additions in the transfer window, the fact Long is still our backup striker tells you all you need to know. We've had a fantastic year but you can't afford to stand still in this league and we are looking a bit stale right now.

I like Armstrong but about time he was dropped, he's been pretty poor this season. Djenepo is inconsistent but has the potential for a moment of magic, would be nice to see that today.
-
Would have taken that beforehand but very frustrating not to have won that. We are just lacking a bit of ruthlessness. Not really sure why that wasn't a penalty at the end especially considering some of the soft ones that have been given this season. I felt it was a mistake taking Theo off as he was playing well and causing them problems, plus a very nice goal. Djenepo and Redmond look threatening but flatter to deceive most of the time and Armstrong is too careless in possession. Romeu, JWP and KWP were all excellent. Looking at the bigger picture it's a good point but hard not to feel some disappointment, which is a measure of how far we've come.
-
It was Wolves not Chelsea who were awarded the penalty which was then overturned. Clear dive by Neto. Aside from that it's far too early to dream of challenging for the title. There are only 12 games played, if we are still in a similar position come the end of February then maybe but realistically we will be 8th-10th imo which would be a good season. The table is very tight and it only takes a couple of losses and we will slide down into mid table.

Whilst this probably represents our best chance to win at Arsenal in years, I would still be happy with a draw. There has to be some kind of response from Arsenal and I just can't see them losing five at home in a row. However bad they have been they still have some good players.

Why are the fans predominantly in the Chapel stand?

They were in the Kingsland but I agree with your point. Other clubs are sticking their fans behind the goal which surely gives a physchological edge. -
Saints vs Sheff Utd - Match & Reaction Thread
LuckyNumber7 replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Saints
Very difficult to find any negatives in that, they all played well apart maybe from Ings who looked understandably rusty. Think I'd give Che MOTM, his holdup play and close control is outstanding. Agree with comments about KWP, what a signing he has been and a huge upgrade on Cedric and Valery. Also well done to the fans who were there, good noise. Aside form the second half collapses against Spurs and Man Utd we have been excellent at home this season, which is a big plus! -
Agreed, if he signs a new contract he is here for the next 2 or 3 seasons at least, and possibly ending his career here. Let's hope that is what happens. Unfortunately this increasingly has a familiar feel to it and we all know the longer it drags on what the likely outcome is. Come on Danny, you are loved here and could potentially be part of something special with your hometown club over the next few years!

This x100. For all the people claiming the players are supporting the phrase 'black lives matter' rather than the organisation Black Lives Matter, whether they like it or not the two are inextricably linked. That phrase to me is toxic and associated with the far left agenda and the rioting and vandalism across the US and more recently here and does nothing to promote racial harmony. If football is really serious about taking people with them and eradicating racism as much as possible then they need to ditch all reference to BLM, the taking a knee and Black Power symbol of the raised fist. Re-focus the Kick it Out campaign and take meaningful action against any proven incidents of racism. I don't think any reasonable person would oppose that.
-
I don't particularly think it is, just trying to understand the other point of view and maybe depending on tone of voice and how it is said it could be construed as a bit rude? "That black man over there" just sounds a bit blunt, but really I don't see a big issue with it. Heard Trevor Sinclair on Talksport earlier saying he also didn't find it offensive or racist, although he was still pleased the players walked off to take a stand strangely. He also said he finds the term BAME offensive which I found interesting.
-
I think referring to him as the black guy comes across as perhaps a little disrespectful and he probably could have chosen better words, but racist, really? Watching the footage, I got the impression Demba Ba was getting angry for the sake of being angry and looking for offence where none was intended. Real genuine racism will never be defeated while we are obsessed with demonising people for things like this.

Get in, played poorly and won, rather that than play well and lose! Big JV is a man transformed, brilliant again.
-
Football / the PL chose to align itself with a divisive political organisation and then acts shocked when not all fans follow along like sheep. Dublin's comments demonstrate how little most players actually know about what they are 'taking a knee' for. What was wrong with Kick it Out?
-
Yes I think you're right, getting my Koeman seasons mixed up.
-
Pretty sure we were 4th at Christmas so we were certainly in contention for a while.
-
That's awful, looks like some crappy fake badge you would get on PES. I love our crest, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
-
If he had even shown a few glimpses in his games for us that he could come good given time, then I could maybe see a way back for him. But I can't remember a single positive contribution from him in a Saints shirt, at best he was anonymous and at worst he looked like a random guy had been plucked off the street to play. He just isn't good enough for the fast pace of the Premier League. Got nothing against him and hopefully he continues his good form for Celtic so we can recoup some of what we paid for him.
-
Won't be long before Ralph is being linked with Arsenal.
-
A massive thank you to Ralph and each and every one of the players, they are doing us so proud right now. It may only be for a few hours but never thought I'd see Saints top the PL. Just so sad we can't all be there to share and celebrate these moments together.
