  1. People can mock Leicester fans all they want, but I went to the away game there last season and their support was brilliant. The stadium was (literally) rocking with all four stands making noise, they kept it up for the full 90 minutes and they had some good songs as well. It really put the atmosphere at SMS to shame. I only make about two or three aways a season but I can't remember the last good atmosphere I had at an away game, possibly Coventry in League 1. I definitely agree our vocal support has badly declined the last few years both home and away. Think one of the main reasons is just the lack of songs we now have. As has been mentioned most of our songs are about players, and we have seen a big overhaul of the squad over the last year so many of the songs have become redundant. We really need some new ones. Don't think it helps that the one good song we do have that is truly ours seems to have been nicked by every other club in the league.
  2. That was so so depressing. I don't even recognise that Saints team with the way we played. Gutted.
  3. Ok need to get it going at SMS then as I've not heard it sung from where I am in Kingsland North.
  4. That would sound really good if we could get this to catch on. I've also never heard it sung by Villa or anyone else.
  5. Ronaldo wore no. 99 at AC Milan There are also several examples of clubs 'retiring' shirt numbers. Milan have done it with Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini's numbers, West Ham have retired Bobby Moore's number 6 shirt etc.
  6. What an utter bellend. Needs to lay off the coke.
  7. Signed for Spurs on Sunday?
  8. Sad that he's gone, end of an era but if anyone has earned this move it's him. He's given us seven fantastic years, been part of an amazing journey, and apart from a little wobble last summer has acted very professionally even when it was clear he wanted to move on. On top of that we've made a huge profit on him so no complaints from me. That's also a very classy goodbye message. Hope he wins the title next season. For Saints it's time to move on, Clasie will be a good addition and it will be interesting to see how we use the rest of the money. Merci, Morgan

This forum is so full of whingy, whiny, clueless, spoiled brats. We are Southampton not Man United or Chelsea ffs. I would love it if we sign Toby but if we don't I won't be throwing all my toys out the pram. Do people seriously believe the club aren't doing all they can within their means to make it happen?

If this is all true then it is Atleti who are in the wrong and not Saints, so I find it baffling that some of our own supposed fans are being critical of the club and saying we should spend millions that seemingly we shouldn't have to legally. A very messy affair though and you have to feel a bit for Toby who will want to know where his future lies.
  11. I agree with this, our model seems to be based more on signing younger players from lesser leagues who have room to develop and we then sell for a profit, Cabaye really doesn't seem like a Saints signing. Presumably would be pretty expensive both in fee and wages, with as you say little resale value. Would certainly prefer Clasie myself.
  12. Wish him all the best, a better fit for him than Reading was. Hope he does for them what he did for us.
  13. I like this. Simple to learn, catchy and can be repeated. We definitely need some new songs for next season.
  14. I think he's looked pretty good in most of his appearances, just a shame he's had so little game time meaning it's hard to make a proper judgement on him. Assuming we can't loan him again, if the fee wasn't too high I would be tempted to buy him.
  15. The front three in particular were outstanding today, but I just couldn't believe Villa persisted with playing the high line when they were being torn apart. They were a shambles in defence but take nothing away from Saints' performance, a great way to end the home season, and still with a small chance of finishing 5th. The thought of Mane, JayRod, Long, Pelle and a new striker (maybe Austin) next season is mouthwatering. Among the records broken today, apparently we are the only team to have scored five goals in either half in one season, fantastic!
  16. Well done Bournemouth, an amazing achievement, very pleased for them. Should make for two exciting games next season.
  17. I like Steve Davis but he had a right shocker yesterday, seemed to give the ball away every time he had it and on too many occasions slowed down any attacking momentum. It wasn't a great performance by any stretch of the imagination but winning is all that matters at this stage of the season, keep the pressure up on the teams around us. Credit to Hull who were well organised and pressed us very well, but as Jermain Jenas pointed out on MOTD, they didn't really create any clear opportunities, mostly just long range efforts. So pleased for Pelle getting back on the scoresheet, and that aside he had a very good game. Great hold up play and even some nice skill over on the left touchline near the end, followed by a sweeping cross-field ball to the right. Hopefully the confidence will come flowing back and he can finish the season similar to how he started it.

He seems like a nice down to Earth lad with his head screwed on and is obviously determined to make the most of his ability. You can't fault his attitude. But I've seen very little in his 60/70 odd appearances for Saints to suggest he is going to be a 'great' player for us. I appreciate he is still young and has time on his side, but the worrying thing is he doesn't seem to be improving, if anything he is going backwards. I really hope he does push on to the levels predicted for him by the 'experts', but at the moment I just don't see it.
  19. 1. Captain Fantastic Fonte, has been brilliant on and off the pitch this year. POTS would be richly deserved. 2. Big Vic 3. Toby Most improved Yoshida.
  20. Spot on, glad there are others who feel like this! I won't be clapping him on Saturday, but I'd rather remember the many moments of joy he gave me in a Saints shirt than a few silly comments he made when he left, and I wish him no ill.
  21. Very much this, we have been in the top 4 pretty much all season, we will probably never get a better chance. Well worth the (hypothetical) gamble.
  22. Apart from one or two daft comments, I'm still not sure what it is Lallana has said/done to cause so much hate, so it will be indifference from me. Lovren on the other hand will get both barrels if he plays, but a heroes welcome for SRL. Other than that can we concentrate on getting fully behind our own players in what is a very important match?
  23. Sad to see him go, a very good, tidy player who will suit Swansea's style very well. Thanks for everything Jack and best of luck in the future.
  24. Agree with this. People forget he was actually playing quite well last season until he picked up that bad injury at Sunderland. You only have to look at our bench yesterday to see there is certainly a place for him in the squad. Infuriating at times but there's no doubt he has ability.
