-
Mane in African Nations, Courtinhio still injured (6 weeks) and over two legs anything can happen. Enjoy our first semi for 19 years !!

Shearer v Arsenal for me as I am old enough unfortunately.
-
yes, excellent comment from Keown on MOTD saying he should have had the good grace to acknowledge Sims performance on debut too
-
Best we have seen this season except for the German in the Sparta home match.

exactly, doesn't reflect well on Koeman that he hadn't even heard of the boy, that's pretty disgusting actually. Blatant lie.

Sparta Prague 1 Saints 0 - Match Thread & Melt Down

an opportunity that he seems to have forgotten he has in the past few games. its his strength, you are correct, but its been rarely used recently. Im not sure it is a myth, on many occasions he has been the centre of the three and in that position his decision making is poor. But he's a young player who has been told by the manager "i dont play wingers" so hes had to adapt. Its not his fault. -

have to agree. The desire to make him a striker and trailing it every match is doing us no favours. -

JWP has a good game, we think he's turned a corner, he hasn't, he is crap in the next match. Jay Rod is totally devoid of confidence and is rusty as any player I have ever seen. He needs to be loaned out to refind his touch, playing him in games in the Europa League has hindered us. Why didn't he play 90 mins against Crawley a couple of weeks ago ? It was an obvious game crying out for him to build some confidence and fitness. Redmond is not a striker, he will never be a striker and to play him as one is ridiculous. He was awful against Liverpool and no better tonight, he's given up running at players now as well. Clasie - no comment. Martina - no comment. Long - needs a goal Boufal - still settling in and finding his feet but he will come good. Puel - I think he is stubborn and will stick to what he believes which means we will become more and more predictable. A poster warned of this before a ball was kicked, its looking like it will become a major failing. We have to buy a striker in January, there are no two ways about it, if we don't it's going to be a very tough second half of the season. i feel for all the great supporters who have travelled thousands of miles across Europe and spent a small fortune. Not a single goal and two awful performances, Milan the only performance worthy of note. -
He was superb, his best game of the season by far. I can't speak for others regarding your "hate campaign" but from my point of view Jose has been fantastic for this club, no question, BUT like it or not he likes a shirt pull, always has done, and in this current climate that's a worry.
-
I think you are talking ******** Heisenberg. He's a fine player and is adapting well to the rigours of the Prem.
-
there is a bit of video from Thursday with Forster kicking a ball around.
-
That would make a nice change !
-
Without question, this should be a priority unless he is edging his bets of course.
-
lets hope he stays sat on the bench !
-
Fonte seriously worries me now the shirt pulling thing can be spotted by refs from about 3 miles away !
-
If Tadic does miss a game because of surgery its a chance to give Boufal the full 90 mins.
-
Umm, ok, still think Jay Rod should have had match time.
-
I would be giving Jay Rod the full 90 minutes in this game, even if he is the only first teamer anywhere near it. He was denied a valuable 90 mins against Sunderland the other week, here's the chance to put that right. He badly needs game time for sharpness and to get match fit. I hope the opportunity isn't missed here.
-
Well Redmond isn't a striker but as the manager insists he is and will continue to persevere with that idea if I had to drop a striker to bring in a new one I would send Jay Rod out on loan to get 4/5 months of game time under his belt. That's the only way I believe we will see if he can regain the form he had before that terrible injury or whether that injury has taken that edge out of his game.
-
cant argue with any of that, although I'm sure some will. To let Mane AND Pelle go was risky, to keep Jay Rod because of a fluke vs Sunderland was a strange call and to rely on Long who had an unusually high scoring return last season was a gamble. We have creative players in Tadic, Boufal and Redmond, we have one goal scorer in Austin. Thereby lies the problem, plain and simple. it MUST be addressed in January.
-
Probably more to do with being a former manager of Inter Milan tbh.

Not a big fan of JWP, just doesn't do much for me BUT last night he was exceptional, the best game I have ever seen him have in a Southampton shirt. More performances like that are needed, Blackmore and Merrington were saying similar on Solent at the start of the Sunderland Cup match, but if you are only as good as your last performance then well done, excellent stuff JWP.
