He also came to us injured so was always playing catch up. It's not easy playing a few minutes here or there and he never really got a decent run of games. He has four options of which Chelsea is a no go, Man City, who knows what they think, Arsenal appear to be distancing themselves from the 25 million being asked and Man Utd supposedly have him down as second choice if you believe the press. He has narrowed down his options. Be interesting to see what he does if the big four dont come in for him.....

Would you have thought the Europa League was possible, gained through League position, two or three years ago ? There are many teams in the Champions League who cant compete with the likes of Barcelona, much much bigger clubs than us. I dont expect us ever to be able to win the Champions League, getting into the competition and playing through the group stage would be enough for me to be honest. That may happen one day, but not yet.

As far as I and many on here were concerned we knew that they had to pay us back 1.5 million if they took him back but not that they had to pay us this 3 million if they sold him to another club. the whole point being if we bid 12 million any other suitors would need to bid 15 million to match us.

If we progress to the group stages and still don't have a squad big enough the amount of experience a manager has or not is irrelevant, if a player gets tired he gets tired and if lack of resources means that player has to play twice a week for a long spell like the group stage is then the league form and position in the table will suffer.
