Well you have answered my question with your first question - what was Sammy's contribution ? I think with all his experience he was much much more than the bib and cone man, he has managed, albeit poorly, and coached at the top level, he was on the England staff at one point (under Sven?) and I cannot see that his knowledge and experience were wasted for two years. My point is that SKD will have nowhere near the qualities that Lee has. A good addition to the staff - of course, but as a replacement like for like, no way.

i must say its a little worrying. Not sure I would be happy relying on the fitness of Austin and JayRod, not to mention Jay getting anything like decent form back. Will Long have another season like last year ? His record doesn't suggest it. Hopefully at least one of Mane or Pelle will be replaced after all.

well with no disrespect to the club's listed he has come to a club that finished 6th last year in the Premier League so arguably this is the biggest gig he has had as a coach so we shall no doubt soon see if he is any good or not. The fact no top club has bent over backwards to add him to their coaching set up hopefully doesn't suggest what I'm thinking it might suggest :-)

If he came back it would be like having to admit he made a mistake in leaving. Not many people are up for doing that, least of all a professional footballer !

not many have written him off to be fair, he sounds ok, personally not what I expected but I like the idea of going back to the high intensity pressing game. you can't deny however much icing you want to put on the cake that his record is patchy and it is limited to an average French League. Doesn't mean he won't be any good however but I can see why some are underwhelmed especially after the club bigging up us taking the next step up to Champions League in the next five year plan.

Black's CV makes Sammy Lee look like a footballing God ! Assistant to Steve Keane at Blackburn for a start, startling record at Rotherham, Wigan, John Barnes disaster at Celtic to name but three others. Doesn't compare with Sammy Lee with England, Liverpool and Saints does it ?

Think you you need to look up his CV........nothing breath taking about it whatsoever!
