Tend to agree, that break last week probably didnt do us any favours. I always hate the "we have had two good weeks on the training ground" statement which usually means we go all to hell. Some of the "City effect" is bound to have worn off. As long as we beat that saggy chopped tax evader next week. One win from these two games will be ok especially as results went for us yesterday.

Be amazed if Reading dont win. Probably leave it until the 93rd minute but they will win.

Lee Barnard for Oldham v Everton tonight
beatlesaint replied to Steeleye Saint's topic in The Saints
I assume you made that statement either through a haze of drink or with tongue firmly in cheek considering both players have appeared in a Saints shirt AFTER their respective "incidents" ? After watching Barnard last night you can clearly see why he is surplus to reqirements. Even if the worst happened and we get relegated he would still not be a top half Championship striker IMHO. When will he learn that you cannot bundle into a defender and not conceed a free kick ffs ? -
If we get to the Champions League in a few years time Fiona Phillips might remember where she is from

I noticed that as Matt, Thommo and Charlie clapped Jeff and Hartlepool

Lets see how Mayuka performs under MP before we start writing him off shall we ? Considering how one or two players have upped their game considerably (Davis, Guly v Everton) since the new manager arrived maybe given a chance this guy will too !

I wondered that having read Rickie's interview in the programme on Saturday. He was really gutted about being left on the bench first match of the season. It puzzled me then and still puzzles me now. As much as I was a fan of NA there is no getting away from the fact some of his selections and treatment of Rickie this season bordered on weird.
-
He can play deeper, in other words midfield, no problem. His touch, vision and range of passing is incredible. He is so much more than a big bruising centre forward. You watch Andy Carroll today and watch the video of Rickie last night. Its as different as night and day yet Carroll has played for England. Crazy.

For those that say "Spurs were a mid table team back then" etc, doesn't matter. We absolutely ran that game from start to finish and murdered them live on TV. It was a superb performance. Yesterday, for me, just beat that because of the intensity.
-
as do Villa with Arsenal and Man City up next. I think we will finish above West Ham. There, I've said it

The booking of Lambert was ridiculous, compounded when he didnt book Toure 5 mins later for a bad challenge.

Serious post or just wind up I dont know but what I do know is that if we do go down then I wont be as devastated as i was back in 2005. After seeing life outside the Premiership it no longer holds any fears for me.

Wigan 2-2 SAINTS /// Post-Match Reactions
beatlesaint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
QPR draw all these games - thought they were dead certs to win today - and people say they are on a good run. We draw these games and its not good enough, 1 win in the last 9 etc etc. I would rather be us than QPR, Villa or Wigan. -
Totally agree.

I suspect he will notice by about 8.15 this evening !

I would love to know the thinking behind the left back selection.......
-
Pretty sure Jim Stannard, Nigel's goalkeeping coach, played for us on loan in the mid-eighties too !
-
Just seeing his name here, Lloyd James....bloody hell yeah......I remeber a lot of people used to come on here and defend him, cant think why. Another one of our "defenders that cannot defend" brigade we have endured over the years. Where is he now ? Still warming Colchester's bench or has he slipped lower than that as well ?
-
It didnt seem to be a problem at the final game of last season when the guy from the Football League Show - Clem I think his name is - was walking past the Megastore and speaking into camera, a camera that was being carried and used by a man walking backwards through a crowd of people !!! Its all bull**** ! The only reason they didnt want it Monday night is in case some silly sod actually had the cheek to mention the name Nigel Adkins. Now he has been erased from the club history by NC nobody is permitted to utter his name within a 2 miles radius. Its a bloody disgrace, its bloody pathetic and for all the good he has done if NC cannot or will not see that this is all making SFC look rather stupid and petty then he really does need a friendly word in his ear from someone, maybe a member of the Liebherr family, who he respects and trusts.

Good player, always liked him. Shame he got greedy and screwed up his career.

Are we PRO or ANTI Cortese on this Forum
beatlesaint replied to Miltonroader07's topic in The Saints
For the way he has picked all aspects of the club up by the bootlaces and moved it forward then very much pro. The way he goes about some things however, Nigel's sacking and then the pettiness of removing the guy's name from our recent history, leaves a nasty taste I'm afraid. You can make an unpopular decision but still sweeten it with sugar to make yourself look a bit more classy. He desperately needs some PR advice I think. -
Absolutely abysmal player.......apparently he was total quality in training, his only problem was he was crap on matchdays !
-
If we let him go this transfer window we will be relegated without a shadow of a doubt. I cannot even believe it is being considered but a lot of people have "heard" things so who knows ?

I have a bit of a cold so if I get my white hanky out it will be to wipe my nose, please do not confuse this with me waving one ffs
