  1. Hooper88. I had faith in my club before but it has been deeply shaken. If he makes another pronouncement the season might be all over.
  2. By the time the end of season comes Redknapp will have signed a couple more wingers and will probably have forgotten about this guy (particularly if they are in the CL). We can then either sign him outright or take another year's loan. Either way, just get us in the PL first before worrying about what loanees are gonna be here when we do.
  3. Perspective is the important thing. If Saints had 61% of the possession but went in only 1-0 up, you would be talking about the likelihood of Coventry getting back into the game and bemoaning the lack of attacking signings which would have put them away. When it's Coventry who have the possession and the goal, it suddenly becomes a more formiddable lead. I think people just want you to be more even-handed in your interpretation of things like that. Not every situation is a problem which requires a fix.
  4. And he'd spend two years there barely managing a League Cup match or two. Would be better for him to join a promotion seeking side and work his way there. Then he'd enter the Premier League as a team member not a squad member. Mind you, I said that about AOC too... ;-)
  5. "Hey, Old Greg! Show us your mangina..."* * I guarantee only about 5% of the posters here will get that obscure reference. Better than my usual percentage.
  6. Baker Street. For some reason all footballers from the early nineties liked "Baker Street". It was like a badge of honour for footballers of a certain generation.
  7. Put Kelvin in cotton wool until the derby game is over. Stick Bart in the reserves. However, if the problem really is nerves then maybe small reserve team crowds and training sessions are not going to bring out the problem or offer a solution. I know Adkins is a motivator but can you motivate big game nerves* out of someone?
  8. I thought the argument was that many "so-called fans" deserted the club once we left the Premier League? Surely if you can point the finger at those fans then you have to also accept that those people would actually come back in the Premier League. I don't think a Championship game v Blackpool is any measure of what an attendance would be in the top flight. Sure we are not a big club - but surely the idea is to build something bigger, milk those fans who only seem to turn up against top six sides, give away lots of tickets to kids and then build the sort of support that will be here in a generation. No we're not ****ing Barcelona but I can't have a go at people who would like to see us expanding the club. If we can't do it now with wealthy owners when could we? After all, the key to any sort of success now has to be through increasing incomes? If we don't we will always stay the same size club. Is there that much harm in wanting more?
  9. So the echo were lying about the £3m bid for Jutke.... Jutk... That Coventry striker?
  10. Media in "looking for angle on story" shock. Seriously, there's more of a story in the relegation-threatened side beating the champions than in the champions winning every game (unless that makes it a record of some sort). There's nothing unusual in this surely?
  11. 2-1. Late Barnard winner. Fonte and Maynard get the others.
  12. Poyet: Why yeah, now you come to mention it I CAN see them holding the hands. Or Poyet: of course, in the Urugauy, we have the name for these people and we call them that all game and it is okay. We don't shake the hands after the game though. They having the gay germs. Make you suddenly all Brazilian.
  13. He won't get picked until he's figuring in the high scorer's table in the Premiership. So, next season it is then.
  14. Given the time difference over here, that counts as a pretty ****ing good birthday present. Now time for sleep! COYS
  15. Refusing to be outdone by Al Fayed, Cortese unveiled a statue of his great hero Shakin' Stevens... as he appears today.
  16. Anyone can keep the team motivated AND keep their feet on the ground it's our Nigel. We'll have our bad patches but the other teams will likely have more. Our greatest challenge is, I feel, injuries and suspensions. If we manage to strengthen in January and keep the guys fit I have every confidence in us.
  17. We really should be beating posters like this by 3 or more. Clearly we're not promotion material, etc. etc.
  18. Isn't this what we were told to expect this season? Wouldn't two big signings in January and another two or three in the summer radically change our club into one which could compete in the Premiership? I have to say that I am somewhat scared of success as it would change MY club but I'd prefer dabbling with success to being content with mediocrity.
  19. They did it at half time too. Confused the **** out of everyone.
  20. Thank **** we're top of the table instead of mid-table. God knows the amount of petty back-biting we'd get if we weren't top and playing good football.
  21. Decisions can even out over time. For instance, you might be denied a penalty in a cup final but awarded one in the following (inconsequential) league game. That would easily make up for it.
  22. I can see your point but I'd prefer to hear us singing that in the Championship (where we weren't expected to do anything) to League One (where we were the so-called big team big scalp) as it doesn't seem so cocky. Maybe we can sing an ironic "we are staying up" to humour Dalek's prediction of 17th and bring back those good old days of "struggling Southampton" and our last day escapes :-)
  23. Can't argue with being top goal scorer in the league. Let's hope that continues well into 2012.
  24. Well if the post-cup celebrations of a few years back are anything to go by, they apparently have 250,000 "fans". As 240,000 of them weren't at Fratton Park they have a greater need of radio coverage. Everyone in Portsmouth is probably glued to the radio whenever there's a match on. Or in prison.
