I don't mind players piddling about, showboating and being inconsistent, so long as they do actually produce a fair number of goals, either by creating or scoring. Messi is obviously an extreme example but you can't criticise anyone who bags over 30 goals a season. Boufal I'd have expected more of than we've seen so far. Aside from two thunderbolts against Boro and Sunderland, he has failed to deliver. Even Mané on his hopeless days, you could forgive because he was good for 10 goals a season.

To think we put out a much weaker team for a first team game against Arsenal....

Martina, J Rod, Clasie, Reed, Isgrove, Long, Gardos, Taylor, Targett and Gazzaniga can all leave as far as I'm concerned.

With any foul (including offsides) the person committing the offense should always be given the benefit of the doubt. Innocent until proven guilty, as it were. For offsides, give the attacker the advantage unless you are certain he was off. For penalties, give the defender the advantage unless there was a definite foul on the attacker.

That bit is up to the judgement of the referee and will always be up for debate. For something as black and white as being beyond the last man though, like Gabbi on Sunday or that mental David Silva goal against us a few years ago, it should be used. If there's any doubt, the goal should stand. The offside decision was brought in to stop goal hanging, having someone like Zigic or Crouch standing in the 6 yard box for 90 minutes. We shouldn't be disallowing goals because someone's knee 'might' be an inch past the last man.

Yet it happens every week.

I'm not sure what the rules are regarding patterns and colours. For example this season's kits clashed with Bompey and I'd imagine also Newcastle should we play them. Not sure what we will wear at West Brom this year, have to assume it will be the grey away kit, although it's fairly close to their navy stripes. (We wore green there last year, they worse their away kit t St Mary's this year)

I think if we're going to have one away kit, surely it's got to be something which stands out from all the home kits. Yellow, green and blue have all worked well in the past, although I do like the white third kit.

If we assume yesterday was roughly our strongest XI, that leaves Long, J Rod, Austin, Boufal and Sims as our other attacking options (at least those proven to be first team quality). I can see J Rod leaving as we've got a striker too many but basically Sims and Boufal are our only AM options. I'd like to see one more.

Austin did score when he was fit and playing. Long has never been anything other than a 6-7 goal a season man at this level, his performances have been on par with the rest of his career. I agree the tactics have been poor at times (Be'er Sheva at home was a particular low point for Claude's credibility) but if CA, JR and SL had been doing their job we wouldn't even have signed Gabbi.

The worst part of it all really is that most of them really aren't that bothered that they won. To them it's just the 'cardboard, tin pot trophy'. Pretty much all of social media is full of them and Liverpool b*tching about who's got the most trophies. I'd hate to be a Man Utd fan, I honestly would. The day I'm not bothered about winning a trophy, I'm going to stop watching football.

I'd be tempted to go with the same team, maybe Hojbjerg in the middle and Sophie-Anne instead of Tadic. Would be good to see Caceres get some game time but I've no idea if he's fit enough to start yet.

Can't see Utd asking for anything like that and I certainly wouldn't pay it. I wouldn't want him as a starter but as an option off the bench and starting cup games, he could be handy.

Would assume Januzaj will be available come summer if this really is the year we lose Sunderland. At the right price and wages he would be a decent replacement for Isgrove.

As poor as we've been at times, I think Puel gets a raw deal by many. Look at how sh*t Liverpool are without Mané and we don't have anything like the depth they do to cover for him. Yes he has got it wrong at times but he's had far less talent at his disposal than Koeman.
