Cork has been out injured for a week and a half. Don't forget that we have a very thin line which needs to tackle city as well. I agree it is worrying that he isn't getting in the team, as a i fell we could use him, however I will wait to see how much game time he gets in the next couple of games before I assumed he is on his way.

So against chelsea, we let in 3 goals... none of which were fluke or bad luck... Just poor defending as was highlighted on sky. Arsenal carved us apart with ease, okay the first goal was sloppy, but they also hit the post twice before that, and the goal was another defending error. Stats wise we did okay vs the Arse, but they were far far more dangerous. We have also lost to Sunderland (weakened team granter), secured a 2-0 win against fulham who I would say are the worst team in the league and who have been beaten by most teams since via a higher margin. We were also outplayed by swansea and got lucky. There is a case to argue saying that we have flattered to deceive... We are hard to beat, and in general we make less mistakes than the teams we beat... hence getting some wins. But we are getting shown up vs the big sides. Therefore there is room for improvement. To say that we are unlucky to have lost these games due to flukes/mistakes etc is to gloss over the fact that we need to be better to achieve what we want.... Don't understand why people accept mediocrity, nor why people take labeling performances as mediocre is in anyway not supporting the team. They are simply a statement of fact. When we were 3rd people were banging on about being in a title race, we even had threads on here about it... now we have had a wake up call and can see where we are in relation to arsenal and chelsea... the first we could maybe have sneaked a draw (with luck) the second put us roundly in our place, especially when you consider how badly they underperformed in the first half, and how they raised their game and turned it around in 30min. So if people want to on the one hand get all high in the clouds over good results, they need to also accept that to sustain that level of performances the club/team need to improve certain areas. And an acknowledgement of those areas is being bloody honest. The concerns at the moment are over fitness and injury levels, lack of clear goalscoring chances and offset against that is the number of defensive mistakes we have made. Prior to Chelsea, 3 of the last 4 goals we let in were due to defensive mistakes/cock ups - needs to be tighter, and vs chelsea we just got out tactic'd (no shame) and made defensive lapses with the marking. (some want to blame gaza 0.o)

Who cares if he is ready? We are unlikely to make euro qualification this season, and we aren't getting relegated (that is for damn sure!) so lets get these kids in and blood them as much as possible, yes we may lose some games, but f**k it, its a wasted season for me if we A.) don't get europe, or, B.) Don't blood the youngsters.... needs to be one or t'other frankly.

So you don't think we may hit a wall going through the season with the same 11 players, double training sessions and no squad rotation... In fact he is actually trying to get rid of ramirez by all accounts as well as giving cork no game time... You answered very legitimate points with your usual disrepsect (not sure why i took you off ignore) for anyone with a different oppionion to yourself.... lets ignore the fact that espanyol's team struggled with the above issues shall we... If you can't see that we are starting to develop little niggles and tiredness then i'm surprised... Note that I am no point attacking MoPo, but lets face it, if he was the perfect manager he wouldn't be at saints, and every playing style has its draw backs matey, I think his may well be jaded players.... Christmas will show us, but I don't think you should be showing me the disrespect of sarcastic replies for raising a legitimate question. Christmas will be interesting. And a part of me would like to have seen what Adkins would do with this team.... he wouldn't have assembled them, fair enough, but I bet he'd have done a good job with them.

Persoanlly, I wonder if we are about to see everything that is wrong with pochettino, double training sessions, NO squad rotation, and refusal to even adapt tactics when the high line press inst working (chelsea today is a prime example, as was arsenal).... Injury, fatigue, players coming in that aren't familiar to the system.... I have niggling worries starting to come in to play. Hope i am wrong. But I do wonder what Nigel would have done with this squad of players... He was doing pretty good when he was fired, poch struggled at the end of the season (limped over the line)... will be interesting. But we've had the managers honeymoon period for sure now, had the summer, had the boards backing.... this is his test time for me. I have serious doubts about the way he wants us to play being sustainable... and if we cant manage it for just the league, we have no hope accross both cups and europe imho...
-
We didn't play great today sadly, only in glimpses anyway. We do look blunt upfront, not really sure why we brought Osvaldo, we don't seem to know how to use him effectively which is a worry since poch should know his game inside out, but he doesn't seem a team player and the detracts from team. All in all these games are showing us where we are... We can give the big boys a good game but struggle against them up front. Only the second team to clearly outplay us under poch today, and it makes iit 5-0 to JM vs MP. Wanyama went back to his usual poor dopey play, jwp was below his usual standards. Lovren was very good, and jayrod did some good work. Shaw pretty good also. The rest were fairly average.

Stupid really, they werer crap when he took over in league 1, got promoted, no budget and still they moan, yet he is a proven to be solid manager at these levels.

Crap, the English police are out on saintsweb.... gg world!

I believe i read somewhere yesterday that he has only lost three times at home in his whole managerial career, that is some feet if true! Either way though, he is loosing on sunday

I was so hoping this was portsmouth, seems they have dodged the bullet this season. Still they will be conference next year .... ';.;'

Ah the classic saints web manners, love it. Also followed up with a healthy bit of bedwetting by suggesting that KL wants him liquidated (does she have the power to liquidate cortese by the way?)
-
You know that 2 of them will start right? Can't believe so many are advocating dropping JayRod. Oh to be an armchair fan.

At Arsenal we also managed "your a saint and you know it" - to walcott, and a rendition of celtics Wanayama chant. There was no "one Artur Boruc" however, and I feel this directly contributed to his performance.

Pretty sure I warned at the time that paying subscription for this service in England would bite people in the arse. I'm sorry its ruined your dubai get togethers though... can you at least get the dodgy streams out there or is this going to severely ruin your saints watching abilities?

Don't get me wrong turkish, I don't think we can expect anything. There are good sides everywhere in the top 10 teams. I just think that our squad, injury free, can tackle any team we come across. I personally feel that on another day we could have got a point from Arsenal, we have shown we are a match if not better than liverpool for my money, the spuds are rocking, and united are poor. It is a real chance for ouselves and everton to do something special. I will be dissapointed if we come lower that 8th however, and that was my pre-season self talking, I have seen nothing to change it. It is a even league outside of chelsea $hity and the Arse.... and there are teams going for 4th spot. At the moment we are definetley in the running for anything up to 4th with a good chunk of the season gone.... If we managed to add 3 quality players to the team then I think we can actually realisticaly have a solid chance for that 4th spot, rather than a dream and relying on spuds manure and co ballsing it up. But for now, life is wonderful no? We even have the most entertaining goalie in the UK, maybe europe?

You really want 75% of the ground to be a family centre because a few people can't/choose not to handle their drink and spill vile abuse and aggression from their lungs for a full 115min?

Exactly this, at the eimarates there were a couple of young lads on my left, could have a good chat to them and talk about the footy. On my right thee was another bunch of young and not so young lads.... from the second they walked it in their Adidas caps and trousers it was f**king c**ts, learn to play you f'ing peice of sh*t etc etc... Ever single word out of their mouth was uncalled for swearing, punctuated by the off spit. I don't take umbridge with the odd colorful expletive, but there is a fine line that others seem oblivious to.... And frankly, it puts of young kids and all he woman that ae worth having at football (that i've met) and kids are the bloody lifeblood of any football team bar chelsea and $hitty.

We will finish top 7 barring a horrendous injury crisis. We lost to day because lovren Shaw and boruc were all missing. Lallana had to go off and that was that. We gave a very good account of ourselves bar 2 errors and at full strength would have got a draw. Boruc had an utter howler. Many chances to clear it but turns back on himself 3 times. It is awful. Left just b4 pen. But for large stretches we were on top and pushing for a goal... And that is without Adam, lovren and Shaw. Peeps need to get a grip. We are still 4th and have played 3 top teams away and deserved 5points from them tbh. Defensive errors aside we would have got a draw today. But this won't happen every week a d at least we did them against a team we have no right to expect to beat rather than a main rival.
-
Are they judged on passing ability? If so he has no chance. Its a miracle he is only directly responsible for one goal against this season. I am sure that he stop a few as well.... but that can not be judged. What is ****ing obvious however, is when he passes it straight to the opposition somewhere between our D and the centre circle! Does my head in!

As it stands, do we have a better team than ENGLAND?
Saint86 replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
I don't know. But it is apparent just how far behind the rest of the world england are tactically.... The issue is this. The commentators just said "a big part of the problem is that only 5 of tonight's England team started last weeks champions league games, the German squad that are visiting on Tuesday have 17. That is a massive part of the problem." Because that explains why Chile, with at least 2 championship players, just samba'd around our team with ease.... This refusal to accept how backward england are tactically is the only problem in my mind. There are 210 players who are eligible for england and that played in the prem last season. Plus some that would be good enough in the championship.... They don't get picked because those with the power assume its all about champions league level football and not tactics. The fact that we are 3rd in the league with 6 league 1 players should be point in bloody case. Team spirit and tactics... england lack both! -
Saints would be murder this England team. You can tell its all to slow for jay and Adam. Pressing is utterly dysfunctional and our lads don't know when to press or not. Always going to be a tough debut. Chile are a quality team... We're not talking about Poland or Ukraine or Moldova. This lot beat Spain with something to spare. Ads doing okay. Jayrod likes to run at team's. But if England don't get Chile on the back foot we are always playing through then and that doesn't suit him! Cone on saints!
-
Personally, I think its being done to keep an air of obscurity or mystery and keep the pressure off. I can believe there is a little bit of nervous-nous on his part for sure (perhaps that's not the right word for it)... but its a lot harder to play mind games with someone who doesn't speak English, and won't give you a response don't you think. Him not speaking English in in public suits us fine at the moment.
-
You don't seriously think we are going to steam role Chile do you? They are a damn fine side.
