I agree. Probably need 2 quality centre backs. Need defenders who throw themselves at everything, like Monk and Williams did for Swansea, and who are confident in what they are doing. Dawson could be that man, plus another. Obviously a left back who can defend will be nice because Shaw is still young of course. A Mulumbu type midfielder would be immense. Ran the show for them against us last week. Very underrated player.

We have an ambitious manager who likes to play better, attacking and entertaining football which is great, as long as you win. Allardyce always has his teams playing efficient, organised football with defence very key for him. That's why they keep clean sheets and have won a few games. Getting the right balance between the two will make you an successful team but an entertaining one which Nigel craves.

Very pedantic. It's my opinion of their opinion. Each has their own and are entitled to them. Nigel's is the one that matters and I think Rodriguez may be replaced by puncheon today.

For god sake, another pointless thread just being miserable and spreading into others. I went to the game and the support was excellent, especially for Nigel, showing that we are behind him and the team. That's a positive. Also, we are still creating chances. Obviously our defence is poor and we aren't going to win games 1-0, but as long as chances are being created, we still have the opportunities to win games and get points.

Reading looking stronger than QPR, who seem to have no confidence at all. Leigertwood is very solid and offers good protection to the Reading back four. Gorkss also having a good game, more evidence that we may have missed a trick last summer. If reading do win, Mark Hughes will get sacked I think.

I agree, Bridge looking good but let's face it, there aren't many that make Fox look good defensively.

There is no doubt that Clyne is a great, young, English talent, but I think that might well be why he is often given the benefit of doubt from most Saints fans who would rather blame, and in most cases rightly so, the centre backs and keeper. I'm sure he'll improve, it's a learning curve for all of them.

We've conceded 24 goals after 8 games, 3 on average per game with 4 defenders. Are you seriously suggesting we could play with 3 against Spurs? Puncheon definately plays for me. Fox is a defender but can't defend, therefore rubbish and therefore can get lost for all I care.

I think the QPR prices are around £50 each, which would certainly put me off if I could go.
