  1. Mea culpa from the Torygraph reporting that the City is also struggling post Brexit: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2023/05/17/barclays-paris-traders-hiring-city-of-london-brexit/
  2. Bonkers Liz on a visit to Taiwan is calling for an "economic Nato" to combat the Chinese. I don't expect she knows what she means, and I certainly don't, but it did strike me that we used to be a member of an organisation dedicated to economic cooperation between European democracies.
  3. No-one seems prepared to invest in a UK battery production plant at a time when it is desperately needed if car manufacturing is to survive at scale in the UK. I wonder why? Tesla chose Germany for their European manufacturing base. Funnily enough, it's in the EU.
  4. It's a betrayal. If only Baidenoch had kept the faith we could have had a bonfire of all those pesky EU regulations and worked all the British hours God sends in unsafe British conditions.
  5. 42 appearances 3 goals and 5 assists - seems solid rather than spectacular. Let's hope he kicks on next season.
  6. Indeed, businesses are going to the wall across the country thanks to Brexit https://www.thelondoneconomic.com/politics/imf-forecast-botched-brexit-deal-contributing-to-economic-malaise-346599/
  7. Meanwhile in my home town of Ashford, 100 million quid has been pissed up the wall developing a huge site with utter contempt for local opinion and planning regulations because Ministers believed their own bullshit and not the expert advice they were given. It will never be used. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jan/21/giant-brexit-border-control-site-sevington-kent-ukrainian-pets
  8. Roses are red, your passports are blue, you voted for Brexit so stand in the queue.
  9. Of Premier League teams, only Leicester and Saints have won more points away than at home. It's only West Ham, they're just as shite as we are, are in a worse run of form, and I'd love to see them relegated. We have every chance. COYS!
  10. Palace vs Leicester is a dire game - they both look very poor

  12. We'll struggle to hold on to Lavia, KWP and JWP if we're relegated. Depending on how Livramento's recovery goes this is going to mean we're short on numbers and quality at full back and in midfield.

  15. Bree Orisic Eluseless
  16. I don't see the point in a new manager whose teams play in the Hassenhuttel style, but who has been less successful. Why didn't we just keep Ralph?
  17. Respect to the club for going for it, I only hope it's going to be enough to keep us in the division
  18. Thanks for that depressing comment
  19. I'm not apathetic - let's tear 'em a new one COYS
  20. It's achievable even we don't get anyone in - we're no better or worse than the other teams at the bottom of the league, we just happen to be bottom at this point. Of course new players would help, but they'll help much more if they're "oven-ready." I liked the look of Jackson but I don't think he falls into that category.
  21. Nothing to do with Brexit, I'm sure https://www.theguardian.com/business/2023/jan/22/uk-will-be-15-years-late-in-hitting-1tn-annual-export-target-figures-show
  22. Such a tragic mess, and a huge loss of prosperity. There is no longer any point in arguing that Brexit has any benefits. "You will remember his claim that the subs paid to the EU only had to be redirected to the NHS to transform it into a world-envied health service. Strike one. What we actually have is a collapsing NHS. Another of their boasts was that the UK would “take back control” of its borders. Strike two. Unmanaged migration is not falling, but rising. The most critical promise was that the economy would roar like a liberated lion just as soon as the UK was “unshackled” from the “sclerotic” EU. Strike three. The UK is the sick man of the G7, the only member with an economy that is still smaller than it was before the pandemic. As for that fabled vista of fantastic exporting opportunities for “Global Britain”, businesses are writhing in all the red tape generated by Brexit while the UK has yet to secure a single better trade deal with a significant partner than we had as members of the EU. Quitting has not been empowering, but enervating. Every credible study concludes that Brexit has introduced new impediments to prosperity while aggravating pre-existing problems. Our trade has had a feebler recovery from the Covid-induced global slump than comparable countries and the inflationary surge fuelled by the war in Ukraine is sharper on these shores than elsewhere. The self-harms inflicted by Brexit also include the suppression of investment and shortages of workers in key sectors. Nothing in the Brexit prospectus has survived contact with reality. Never has there been such a bonfire of vanities."
  23. Well, I've watched half the YouTube video and I'm sold - guy looks a real unit bring him in 🙂
  24. While we're far from brilliant at creating chances, our expected goals have us higher up the league than we actually are. The stats say that our big problem is be putting away the chances we create. A problem which I very much hope our stats obsessed overloads will address, because Adam fucking Armstrong aint the answer. https://understat.com/league/EPL
  25. Sounds like he's coming anyway
