That's exactly what Pochettino didn't do when he left us! I don't think we'd have lost so many, or even any, of our players if he'd done this. But yeah, Koeman signing a new contract before the transfer window would definitely give security to those interesting in joining or considering leaving.
-
Ah, fair enough. Still not sure I've got my head around it all!
-
It's worth pointing out, I think, that he made some poor decisions as well, picking the wrong man on some of our countless breaks. City's defending and lack of midfield cover was a dream for players like that - runners in Mane and Long and space to find them. Good as he was yesterday, he doesn't get that most games.
-
You're responding to a troll, but thanks for reminding us all of this!
-
Absolutely - I'm more concerned about him than Mane. Any news on who Conte fancies at Chelsea? There have been Forster links since it became clear he would take over.
-
How does that square with Chelsea finishing sixth, winning it a few years ago and taking the qualification spot away from Spurs, who finished fourth?
-
Never even twigged it was the same Bolasie! That was a great day.

The difficulty we have is that we rely on Davis to play our way. Anyone who can score goals and marshal midfield like him is earning £100,000 a week at a top club. We'd all love an upgrade who can bang them in from 30 yards but we'd risk losing other elements of our game. He's been great since moving to Newcastle, which has swayed a few. I'm still not sure but I'd love to have him here in his current form.

Tottenham build up thread ...a question posed
DuncanRG replied to Yorkshire Saint's topic in The Saints
Not sure it matters, really. They're not the type of team to give up and coast their way to the end of the season, and if they lose the league tonight they'll want to go and prove themselves next time I'm sure. The more interesting question is whether our attacking three from yesterday will be half as effective in this game. -
Not Chambers and Clyne?
-
City were absolutely woeful but god, what a great performance first half. Front four all on top form and exploiting their weaknesses. You've got to give Mane MOTM for the hat trick but Long, Tadic, Davis and Wanyama were all top notch. Sadly, same as the Villa game, we allowed their disinterestedness to rub off on us defensively at times.
-
If I were Leicester and looking for squad reinforcements for Europe, I'd very much fancy Long to take some pressure off Vardy.
-
Can't rule out a Liverpool fightback, but this is a good start for the results which affect us.

Contracts are the common denominator of incidents which led to disciplinary proceedings. Managers and agents meeting is quite different to players having a chat.
-
You're all misunderstanding what 'tapping up' is. It's negotiating or discussing contracts without your club's permission. I highly doubt Fonte has been talking to Chamberlain about his performance-related bonuses. You can't stop players talking to each other, and I can't even see why you'd want to.
-
Even if that's true, Chamberlain's situation may have changed at Arsenal since then. He was coming back from injury in January (wasn't he?) but must now realise he's never going to get enough games there.

Club unimpressed by Jay's attempt to recover pace

Sigurdsson.

Wages are an issue with all three, but Depay is by far the most talented. The chance of getting half the player he was at PSV is very tempting indeed.

Our defence clicks.
-
Harsh on Stones - he can't help that he's playing for a manager who can't coach defenders.
-
You need to watch a lot more Spurs and Arsenal games. And Leicester, while we're at it! Cedric's been good but not great, as Clyne was. We can't really use age as an excuse, as he's a couple of years older than Clyne was when he came to us. Moving to a new league is even bigger for some players though. I wouldn't be disappointed not to buy a right back in the summer but I would expect more from him next year.
-
Like the team, I think we felt a bit sorry for Villa and went easy on them. It was a strange, sad atmosphere and away fans can't help being affected by it.
-
Most of them aren't even at the end of contracts, are they?
-
Agree with all your assessments, though Van Dijk is a 4-0 thrashing, while Stekelenburg is nicking a winner at the death after mustering two shots all game. Makes you marvel all the more at our rebuilding job the previous summer.
