  1. On the whole the fanbase seems more relaxed for the fact we came through 2014 and now have an impeccable track record of replacing managers.
  2. We already know that the club monitors coaches constantly in case we need to go and get a new one. There's also a persistent rumour about personal tension between Reed and Koeman.
  3. You must be annoyed Liverpool took credit for your 1984 title win!
  4. Hear hear!
  5. Young centre half at Villareal, who just finished fourth in La Liga. So hardly unknown, although I and most other English fans won't know a thing about him.
  6. You'd think one day fans might let go of these sorts of things.
  7. It's pretty clear Saints wanted to keep him, and would therefore have seen him as the best option, but otherwise I'm with you.
  8. Whoever it is, they'll need a new chant. I couldn't handle the irony of singing 'There's only one so-and-so' for a fourth manager in a row.
  9. Aren't both of those things true? You might want to thank the media for informing you that Wanyama wants to leave. They are the only reason it is 'obvious'.
  10. Almost as if he said that to placate his backbenchers!
  11. We choose from those who volunteer to run. It would be a pretty exhausting process otherwise!
  12. I'm as critical as you are of the idea that selection should be based on form alone - forming a cohesive squad which can play together takes time and can't be chopped and changed too much. But it's fitness that worries me with Wilshere and Henderson. As a squad member, Drinkwater is reliable where those two aren't. We've only got one reliable defensive midfielder at the tournament in Dier.
  13. Sounds like a challenge to me! Reckon this would take some beating: Aguero Ozil Payet Mahrez Kante Schneiderlin Rose Van Dijk Alderweireld Clyne Courtois Lukaku, Vardy Townsend, Arnautovic, Redmond Fletcher, Kirchhoff Daniels, Williams, Dann, Richards Gomes
  14. The only reason Drinkwater might have played would be after injury. Given the risky players Hodgson has selected in Wilshere and Henderson, I think it's relevant to consider whether a high-performing alternative who's played the whole season might have been better.
  15. I don't think you need to, the viewing figures speak for themselves at major tournaments. For some (mostly top Premier League club) fans, it's a bit like the Europa League - full of disdain until your team starts doing well.
  16. That's not even remotely suggested in the headline or story.
  17. Being at Arsenal, which means more competition and more injuries.
  18. It's strangely disarming to see footballers talking frankly on camera. PS Noticed no one picked Ward-Prowse as most intelligent. I thought he was supposed to have a crazy high IQ?
  19. You're mad. Mourinho is a swine and would be a real test of how much I want to see Saints win. We would win.
  20. People were very excited when he signed - next big midfielder in Europe etc. Smashed a few best signings polls before (and maybe after) Van Dijk came. For me Delgado was a big 'un. I was also quite excited, if not ecstatic, about Mayuka. That went well.
  21. There's another local club around here somewhere, think one of our academy boys used to go there as a kid...
  22. Lovely stuff, and particularly interesting when he got onto Leicester and the dynamics of the league. I'd never considered his point that the big clubs' upheaval could be an advantage for the continuity candidates, of which we could be one and Leicester were an extreme example this year. European feeder club is all a bit Chelsea though - I know I wouldn't be too happy as a fan of a L1/Championship side to have Saints dictating how many games the loanees get.
  23. I heard that discussion. It was interesting, but I'm not sure we've accepted the model in the same way Sevilla have. Maybe it's just PR but it seems we've tried (and in some cases failed) to resist those market forces. The Sevilla thing seems to be closer to what Koeman had at Feyenoord.
  24. He's not a hypocrite in the slightest, and I respect him greatly for taking that job, but it would be rather satisfying to poach a player or two from him.
  25. That would be a far worse way of pricing out fans than increasing prices.
